  • Sound of Z51-70 LENOVO fan (by clicking / singing)

    Hi all

    I'm having some trouble with my recently purchased lenovo z51-70. I noticed a chirping sound coming from the turbine (which resembles noise that makes HARD drive for access). I update the BIOS to v2, but even if the sound is quieter, he is still there.

    How do I know if it is and hardware problem?

    Thanks in advance for your support,

  • g510 Lenovo fan noise

    Hi, I bought a lenovo g510 a few months previously, he worked very well until a week ago, when I heard a loud noise coming from the fan of the laptop as soon as I pushed the power button to start the machine, after a second or two, the sound went and the laptop starts fine, but a few days ago This happens again, now if I put my ear close to the fan I hear a noise level of the fan almost sound like a rattle of the rotation of the fan, very low however. I need to fix this problem or is not a big problem?

    Thank you.

    Hi Alisheikh,

    Normally, if the laptop fan is running, and a moment ago the angle of the fan change a little and can generate its minute, this is normal and it will not have any problem.

  • Stop Windows Wireless Service to try out Lenovo's own product

    Hello

    I have problems with my wifi connection cut a LOT.  Diagnosed several relevant systems (router wireless, interference, cable provider, modem, driver card INTEL 4965AGN, etc etc.).  Want to try out the exclusive Lenovo Wireless Connection Manager, "ThinkVantage access connections" to see if that makes a difference.

    Given that my wireless connections are managed by 'Windows Wireless Service' I want to stop it for a few days and start using Lenovo CVAT.

    Question: How can I turn off the Service of wireless in Windows Vista?

    Thank you if anyone has any ideas.

    P.S. I have a Lenovo T61P running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

    Click Start and type services.msc in the list look for autoconfiguration WLAN service and open the properties, and you can turn it off

  • G780 Lenovo fan noise

    My laptop fan made a lot of noise lately, I checked already a lot of forum, if I already checked the easier solutions. I removed the dust of my fan (there is almost no dust!) I checked my CPU for portable use, this is about 3%, is not because the CPU is overheating. It starts just making a lot of noise for no apparent reason, in my opinion. What can I do? should I just install a new fan? In my opinion, my fan is in good condition, as far as I can tell.

    The only reason why my laptop heat keeps the fan running all the time.

    My computer does not detect any problems. But the noise is really irritating.

    Thanks for the support.

    Temperatures look good, so this isn't a problem.

    If the fan made this kind of noise then it must be replaced.  Not quite sure about what Fan / Heatsink heat your model contains as the guide indicates the possibility of 3 it might be.  Your fan should have a part number FRU about it for better identification.

    An alternative is to buy just the fan only.  The fan can be disconnected from the heat sink and just replace it.  EBay is a good source for new fans.

  • Z2 Lenovo Vibe Pro - availability?

    Hello

    When and where will be available with the purchase of this model? In europe?

    Thank you

    Comment to Moderator: New thread is created. The topics here and below are edited for clarity.

    It is available in the countries of Eastern Europe more. I heard the reason you can't get it in Western Europe is that Motorola does very well, and that Lenovo now owns Motorola they do not want to compete with the two features of Lighthouse on these markets. It is always a little too bad, because Z2 Pro is more beautiful than the new bike.

  • The upgrade of the card Wifi in T420s AC

    I think the upgrade of my wireless card Intel AC card.

    As far as I understand there is a white list of BIOS for the authorized material that will require flashing before you install anything with non - Lenovo FRU. As I have not been able to find a card that is dealt with by Lenovo, I don't really see option to blink.

    Could someone point me in the direction of a work card, or a mod of BIOS work? I thought the 7260 Intel as a replacement card.

    Did anyone done this before? :-)

    Welcome to the forum!

    There is no wireless card out-of-the-box-work AC for a T420, so looking for a mod of BIOS.

    There are places online that specialize in the provision of modded bios, I doubt anyone here will post a direct link with one of them on Lenovo's own forum.

    Time to put the search engine of your choice to work.

    Good luck.

  • Re: W700 - purchased at the Service of the United States in Germany

    Dear Lenovo Service:

    This mail is a customer very disappointed and angry of lenovo who owned several "ThinkPad" produced by the past both at work and at home.

    Well, this is my story - I ordered originally my W700 on 26 Nov 09. After of many calls/emails to Lenovo customer, the machine finally arrived on December 22, two weeks after the original delivery date (Oakland, CA, USA) not to mention that I had to cancel my flight/lodging the 17 in Germany which I had arranged before hand a tolerance of 9 days of delivery time would be appropriate. It turns out it was a bad management and cost me US $350 to reschedule my flight itinerary;

    On 31 December, I was on a flight to Germany for training of technique of 8 months. The third day after my arrival in Germany, the laptop screen is suddenly cleared and restart/connect to an external monitor both ended up a failure.

    So the next day (4 January), I called Lenovo in Germany Customer Service line and explained my situation and literally supplies to speed up the process (I had badly need for modeling 3D CAD to work); Guess what, the representative was told that he did not know if my warranty can be carried over to Germany since the original purchase was made in the United States. Including, I told her that I bought an additional 3 years international warranty and they should be able to verify with a small "click" with the mouse. on the contrary, it took them 5 days to get back to me telling me that the guarantee has been verified and MOST UNACCEPTABLE, they asked me to send the computer laptop for the filing of repair on my sense of the part I find time at the post office and have to pay for shipping... it is not how the company was performed in ancient times with IBM. In the old days, I would get an empty box delivered to my door the next day and everything I need to do is put my laptop in and picked up by the local courier. IT IS RIDICULOUS; This isn't how Lenovo should treat its customers; as a loyal customer of IBM/Lenovo for years, this isn't how you pay me back with...

    aside from the default screen/graphics card.

    1. the keyboard is terrible. Flexible, noisy and feels like a piece of cheap plastic
    2. the program kept sends me errors when I tried to burn the "Recovery DVD" (of course, it was until the system broke down and became completely devoid);

    To a valued customer of Lenovo (if you really want to say so), I would make the following requests:

    • have the laptop fixed as soon as possible;
    • replace the original keyboard with keyboard FRU42T3143;
    • provide a DVD of Win7/WinXP original;
    • reimbursement of my port (I'll include the receipt in the box of the future)
    • HAVE SOMEONE ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MESSAGE AND RESPOND. (not too much to ask, isn't it?)

    Note of the moderator; subject edited for relevance

    senw, welcome to the forum,

    I'm sorry to hear that you have encountered problems. I'm not able to help you directly, but would like to offer the following as documents of information for you, if all goes well, he could ease your pain a little / or not, you will have to be the judge.

    • have the laptop fixed as soon as possible;

    You are invited to send your W700 to Geodis to Heppenheim; I have sent customers ThinkPad for them for almost 10 years and have never been disappointed by the level of service systems received, IMHO, they are excellent at what they do. The rule of thumb is 5 working days, including shipping to and back again.

    • replace the original keyboard with keyboard FRU42T3143

    I don't know if they will be able to grant this wish, but it is certainly worth asking explaining them your concerns. It's something that is unknown territory for me because the situation is, in my experience, never came.

    • provide original DVD of Win7/WinXP

    You can certainly order a set of recovery discs for your system that you have been unable to create your own. It may take some time because they don't have them in Germany and will be sent from abroad.

    • reimbursement of expenses of Harbour

    At least that an additional servicepak was purchased for "collect Courier' standard warranty in Germany called 'bring-in '; the customer is responsible for getting the system to the repair center. It of unfortunate for you in this case, but has been the standard procedure even when IBM ran the show. It is a zone where levels of service may differ from one country to the other.

    • HAVE SOMEONE ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THIS MESSAGE AND RESPOND. (not too much to ask, isn't it?)

    It is a peer to peer forum, where members try to help others. There are a few employees of Lenovo who help you here in their free time, but unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will receive an official response.

    Concerning

  • T500 Vista: Roxio Creator) 1 not installed, missing since 2) C:\SWTOOLS\APPS and recovery) 3?

    Do a clean install of Vista 64 on a separate hard drive to upgrade my T500 Vista 32 following Lenovo's own installation instructions here. Having correctly installed and updated all the drivers and now starting to install applications from the C:\SWTOOLS\APPS directory.

    I discovered that, although the Roxio Creator and MyDVD are installed on my Vista 32 preload factory, the Roxio Creator CBED subdirectory is missing in C:\SWTOOLS\APPS (all applications are there including WinDVD).  I checked on my backups as soon as possible once I unpacked the T500 in December and am fairly certain that it was never a subdirectory of DEC there. There are also a couple of previous forum discussions indicating that I am not the only one with a missing directory DEC.

    So I used my Vista 32 recovery disks to create (once again on a separate disk) Vista 32 factory settings system restore. On this system, I find that Roxio Creator is not installed, but for example WinDVD is installed. In addition to the system generated by the recovery disks all the C:\SWTOOLS\APPS directory is missing!

    Then, I checked my T42 I reset to factory settings with its recovery discs and all of the C:\IBMTOOLS\APPS directory as it was then called present.

    So what happens here, a Lenovo has changed its policy regarding the directory C:\SWTOOLS\APPS or is it a bug that it is absent from the factory settings system restore?

    Can anyone confirm that if I the Badger Lenovo support by sending me to the new recovery disc for my system Vista T500 32 they would understand the C:\SWTOOLS\APPS directory?

    If this isn't the case, any other ideas how I could get Roxio Creator installed on my Vista 64 system?

    Thank you erik.

    Before you call Lenovo support Monday, I decided to do a more thorough search of the disk with Vista 32 system restored to the factory since the recovery discs settings, that I got burned.

    And I found a directory apps much smaller that my factory preload C:\SWTOOLS\APPS. It is C:\Program Files\MLPS\APPS. But the success - it did not contain the directory of DEC. Since the Readme in this directory:

    Easy Media Creator of Lenovo is in two parts:

    Easy Media Creator
    Drag2Disc

    MyDVD is installed as part of Easy Media Creator.

    In a State of preloading, both parties are installed using
    This file can be used in silent mode to silentsetup.cmd.
    Re-install both or one of the applications.

    To capture applications for individual use
    a network environment, all you need is the files
    Since the following directories.

    EPC - Easy Media Creator
    Drag2Disc\x64 - Drag2Disc for Vista64 or XP64
    Drag2Disc\x32 - Drag2Disc for XP or Vista32

  • T61 broken frame/hinge

    Hi all

    I searched the forum for the info, but had no luck.  My apologies if this has already been answered.

    I was wondering if I have the latest post (08/08)? MoBo in my T61, don't know how to find out by using the serial number.

    starts, LCD is always white, I'm in the area so no VGA cable to confirm the operation, but was working before hinge/frame off taken... story below if you need more information...

    I am a true IBM / Lenovo fan, grew up in the shadow of Poughkeepsie... Currently, typing this post on a R51 I picked up for $200 in silicon valley.

    My problem is with my beloved T61. A hard life has made it's magnesium internal frame broke. He had a hinge/framework sloppy for about 18 months and finally let go. I just he returned to North Carolina, (have extended warranty), hoping that someone he will have pity on me and say it's fixable.

    Not sure if the framework is covered by the warranty, but paid enough for it security, so hoping for the best. If this isn't the case, I really don't want to take his retirement this machine and I'm ready to shop for a frame of e - bay IF the motherboard is a newer version...

    Thanks for any help!

    John "selectric" (if you have to ask, you're too young!)

    About the map system, there is no way to tell by looking at, part numbers, or any other method if it's the gpu revised or not. The ONLY conclusive way is by the number of unit series/date code. 08/08 or later version is good, prior is uncertain. You can made a guess by looking at the date of the GPU, but I came to the conclusing that the gpu of old design and the new were produced at the same time, perhaps in different factories, or production lines, so the date of the single chip is not conclusive.

    If you need a new framework for your system, I have a couple and that he would be open to trades and trade... send me a PM if you want.

  • X 220 do not recognize the wireless card?

    Hi all

    First post here, Hello to all!

    I just got a X 220 with SSD 160 GB, made from the site of decision-making of the United Kingdom but has been described as new.

    He beautifully lit and W7 64 bit Pro came with a few setings to fix, but for some reason, it won't find a wireless card.

    He finds bluetooth, Device Manager and the Manager of Lenovo's own network tools all find the bluetooth and ethernet, but not wi - fi.  The switch works physical (i.e. the machine recognizes when it is on and off) and bluetooth turns off with the switch.  There is a light small icon bluetooth and wi - fi, bluetooth lightdsup OK but wi - fi has never turned on.

    The list of standard generation shows 2 flavors of wi - fi, but I do know that if it's just a bad driver - probably the device management under W7 could observe the card, even if it has been incorrectly installed or disabled?

    Any thoughts on how to fix?

    No card installed!

    Some variants of decision-making have apparently funny configs if they are built for subsequently cancelled orders. The technician with a card and all is well.
