yesterday, I tried to start it with a dead battery by pressing the power button for 10 seconds after which I put in the adapter and the battery. I also removed the battery and ac adapter and tried, but it did no good. Please help me ASAP

My specs:

Lenovo r61 7743-a17

Intel Core 2 duo 1.8 ghz

4 GB of ddr2 ram

Windows 7 64-bit operating system

If the laptop works properly without installed drive, then it's what you need to do. It is difficult to tell what is causing your problem, it could a short circuit, a dirty or component connector defective.

    Hello!

I have the original cd of Windows XP Recovery for models R61/T61 lenovo.

I currently have Lenovo R61 type model A32-8933.

It installs fine, but after it goes off randomly gel:

-In the bios, I choose the compatibility mode no AHCI, due to the fact that Win XP SP2 do not have the necessary drivers.

    -J' updated BIOS

-J' updated all the drivers via for the Lenovo system update utility. (no yellow exclamation in Manager)

    -Installed SP3

-Installed driver Intel matrix storage (no effect)

Freezes are random, I can't copy them. In Event Viewer, I get no error.

To stop the freezing I shut down the computer.

!!!! I am currently using Linux Mint 13 Mate-> not a single problem so far. Fine work, so problem in hardware but not software related.

    And ideas?

So I put the finger on the problem.

It WAS WIRLESS CARD - Broadcom 4311 model.

It was not supported by lenovo and it was the origin of the random freezes.

Yesterday I updated for Broadcom 4321 model, and it works a lot better + do not freeze.

I also uninstalled lenovo conectivity programs + Power Manager and it works even better - WINDOWS 7 proffessional.

  • What the correct update BIOS for my Lenovo R61?

    Main question:

I have a Lenovo R61 15.4 "laptop computer screen with IEEE. 1394  What is the good BIOS update version for my system?

    * The version on the Web the matrix file BIOS Lenovo page, 7KET72WW (1.22 - 1, 06), seems wrong and outdated compared to this page:

    http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache: jqsAECxdXDoJ:www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68183.html+7OET24WW&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us

which indicates that it should be 7OETC1WW (2.21). **

    Background:

This Lenovo R61 laptop has always been slow and difficult, with performance much worse than my old XP system with worst record.  Originally, I tried to reinstall Vista to remove the useless factory software I thought may be responsible for slowing down the system.  This was the beginning of many problems.  I had added a stick of 1 GB 2 brand new RAM for the system, and I couldn't properly reinstall Vista with the ThinkVantage tools.  When I contacted the support, they told me it was due to the system are different from the original specifications (additional RAM).  It's ridiculous, but also to correct.  In addition, my Windows key at the bottom of the laptop sticker was scratched and unreadable, directly from the factory.  Support told me that the key is not useful or necessary because the only way to reinstall Vista is using the ThinkVantage tools.  Once again, ridiculous, but after removing my extra RAM, I was able to reinstall Vista.  This did not help the performance, even with the additional software deleted.

    On the current problem:

I have experience several daily BSOD. Analysis of accident of Vista generally points to the USB driver, sometimes the network adapter driver and often does not return anything.

I want to update my BIOS, but I don't know which version to use.  According to the information of the system, my system model is 8932CTO. The current system BIOS is the 7OET24WW version (1.03).  I did a search on Google for this BIOS and found the following cached page:

    [ http://74.125.45.104/search?q=cache: jqsAECxdXDoJ:www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68183.html+7OET24WW&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us] It lists the following:

This version supports the following systems:
    -ThinkPad R61 - 15.4-inch wide screen models
    Machine types: 8930 8933, 8934, 8935, 8936, 8937
-ThinkPad R61i - model widescreen 15.4 inches with IEEE 1394
    Computer type: 8932

The latest BIOS for my system model number is indicated as:

The first version of this list, 7OET24WW (1.03) matches the BIOS on my system, which indicates that I have to upgrade to the current version, 7OETC1WW (2.21).

This page shows that my system model supports IEEE 1394 (Firewire), and of course, the Device Manager shows a RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller, even if my laptop is not a firewire port!  Then...

QUESTION: why does my laptop have an IEEE 1394 controller, but no port?  It is used to something else? Safely disable the controller driver if it is pointless?

The same page also lists the history of BIOS for thise models, and the current BIOS version does not match the name on the matrix of the file BIOS Lenovo - ThinkPad page here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=BMOE-3VAM8Y#r

My computer is a R61 widescreen 15.4 inches with IEEE 1394 (at least the controller).  NONE OF THESE VERSIONS OF BIOS MATCHES THE OTHER PAGE, I FOUND, WHICH SEEMS MORE ACCURATE!  Also, only one of the many, many BIOS versions presented on this page are from 2008.  So the page of the Lenovo BIOS file matrix totally out of date or what?

What version of BIOS should I use to upgrade my system, and what else can I diagnose these BSOD and performance problems?

Agotthelf is correct; 2.21 is the latest version of the BIOS, and to install it, you must burn it to a CD as an ISO file. I was too lazy to do.

My R61, too, is the 15.4-inch (1680 x 1050) model, but unlike you, I have XP Professional and a 1394 a miniport. The reason your system shows Firewire, it's Ricoh Board which controls the 4 - 1 or 5-in-1 memory card reader includes the R61 Firewire controller. I guess it's convenient is you decide, as I do, to add a CardBus (or, as the case may be, an ExpressCard) with full major ports 1394 a(1) FireWire, 1394b (FireWire 2), or both.

    Hi all

I have attached a sample application which I parse SOAP api and received the answer of webservice and convert UTF8 response but QString turns not in UTF8 so can you check my app?

I convert as below but still not get

    QString finalVal = responseValue.toString();
    finalVal = finalVal.left(finalVal.length() - 1);
    finalVal = finalVal.mid(1);
    QString text = QString::fromUtf8(finalVal.toStdString().c_str());

Note :-if I put static QString while they convert to UTF8 but I put Analyzer QString then they do not convert to UTF8.

You will need to make sure they are off escaped as well.

    for example:

    If (next == 'r') {}

  • Lenovo R60 do not turn on with battery

    Hello Sir,

I have laptop of lenovo thinkpad R60. A few days back, I used to get error message saying stuck key 44 when I turn on the laptop and when I press ESC it used at startup. After a few days my laptop does not run with the battery. But when I put the card connected on AC power, then my laptop is turning on.i does not work with my laptop for 2 days and when I turn on the laptop without external power, it works with the battery. Then I worked on it for 4 days with the stack and in time when I'm not working with the laptop, I used to charge the battery for 1 1/2 hour. Suddenly, I was again the same problem IE computer laptop is not turn on with the battery but light with external power. I read some of the forums and I removed my battery and pressing the power button for 50 seconds and immediately put the battery and turned on the laptop, but doesn't. Please solve my problem.

    Thanking you

    Hi karim,.

As ajkula66 suggested, your battery needs replacement. If you can get a spare battery to view, share and check if it works very well.

    Best regards

    Mithun.

  • Lenovo Y580 turns is not on

I pressed the power button and the light came up during 5 seconds. Then he disappeared.
Nothing came on the screen. The CPU fan was not working and the keyboard does not light up.
I tried to hold the power button for seconds.
I tried to turn on with AC adapter only.
I tried out the RAM and then lit.
    Nothing works...

I am a Thai student in Okinawa, to the Japan.
So now I'm so nervous because I won't have a computer to work on.

Those who know this problem, you please please please help me solve this.

    The said warranty status
Warranty has expired, but upgrade warranty is still active until the November25th, 2014
So I can fix it for free?

If nothing does, then maybe it's motherboard is gone or this AC plugg on the motherboard is broken, causing the power not to enter fully at all but I doubt it would be if the light comes on for a few seconds, then turns off so it sounds more like a motherboard problem if the power adapter is cause of it.

  • Clock again R61 does not properly take the time

My new R61 is chronically displaying the wrong date and time. Basically, it runs fast. I have reset several times over the past days.

For example, there are about 20 hours, I turned on and found that it contains a date in 2009. I reset the date and time at the moment, and after 20 hours of the date that is displayed is 6 days in the future. I have not studied it enough to know if it is related to a particular power supply situation. Part of these last hours 20, the computer was hibernating on the battery power, part of the time it was running on AC and part of the time it was closed.

Has anyone else seen elsewhere? I am running SUSE Linux (installed by Lenovo).

This has been resolved. I installed Ubuntu Linux instead of SUSE Linux Enterprise Edition that was installed by Lenovo. The clock now works perfectly. Thus, it was not a hardware problem, but a problem related to the interaction between the hardware and the operating system.

  • R61 turns off without reason

    Hello Lenovo community,

I am writing, because I noticed a weird behavior of my ThinkPad R61 for 3 weeks.

To be more precise, it's my ThinkPad R61 8918 DEG, I bought 12 months ago.

I'm on Windows Vista Professional (with Service Pack 2) top.

Windows Update and ThinkVantage System Update run twice a week.

If Windows, all the drivers and the Lenovo Applications are up to date.

Okay, enough about the specifications and back to my problem.

First time I saw the error I wasn't really noticing, since I wasn't on the laptop

When he arrived. I have just returned to it and saw that it has been disabled.

For 2 weeks, this error will occur on a random basis without any reason, that I have met:

    (1) computer laptop LCD goes black - laptop is not out yet (I let him play music in the background to make sure that.) The music continued to play)

    (2) music stops and continues to play again (as when the system is under a heavy load)

    (3) music finally stops

    (4) computer laptop LCD is to stay off and the laptop is simply turn off.

So far I don't check for possible hardware problems.

I did a complete reinstall of Windows Vista and just had a complete PC-Doctor 5 for Windows check running which showed no problems.

For the next Checkup, I'll have a true memtest - the bootcd is right next to me already.

Though I doubt it will give any other result.

The fan is not a strike, but I'm having a temperature/voltage /-fan speed check every 20 minutes for a day, to see if that might show any possible suspicion running.

After all, I thought that maybe someone here has an idea of what my problem might be subject.

    Kind regards

    xap2009

  • Lenovo SL510 will not start.

Then I made a mistake. I reinstalled the operating system on the computers of dozens of times and never had this problem. I have Lenovo SL510 and tried to reinstall using the dvd player. I am entered bios and changed the boot for the reader settings dvd was first and then started but he went directly into windows 7 hard disk. I tried again, hit f12 at startup and specifically selected to boot from the DVD drive and again it would start directly from the hard drive ignoreing completely DVD player. Finally, I opened the DVD of windows and installed over the old operating system, intended to delete old files after installation is complete.

The installation went well, everything worked, except that I had no internet. It turns out that the wireless card was not recognized. I opened the Device Manager and it was showing under "Other devices" as a network with a yellow exclamation point controller. I go to track down and install wireless drivers after you connect with an ethernet cable. I tried the program of chipset intel and it not to install the appropriate driver, I tried lenovo support program and it is impossible to install the driver, I downloaded and installed the driver manually and nothing happened. I tried several different wireless drivers and the result was always the same. I was working on the issue for at least 8 hours.

Finally, I decided it wasn't worth it and why not reinstall again. This time, I have created a bootable USB key and went through the same process, boot order has changed, no result booted from the hard disk, you press f12, selected the USB, the same result. Finally, I installed the new OS image on the existing operating system from USB when the computer was on.

Install the OS on the older operating system was certainly a mistake, but it seems that the crux of the problem was that the computer just wouldn't start on anything else that the hard drive itself, I did not realize the implications that this presented, and during the final installation of the operating system of the USB, the computer restarts during the installation. Of course.. the computer does not reboot from USB which meant he came just a black screen, the operating system has already erased from the hard drive, but could not boot from USB and so simply rises blackscreen.

The first thing I tried to do has been reset in the BIOS, was not the case. When I try to access bios it would simply blackscreen with power on indefinitely. Of course I tried f12 Boot and using several times to try to move back from USB to DVD and so forth, but just black screened.

Then... Help? If the computer could not boot from USB or DVD then the only option was to start from inside the original OS, but this caused a driver error massive that I couldn't solve little matter what I did. And now, I think that the computer is completely lost. The only idea I have is to try to use a friends computer to install an OS on the drive the SL510 hard then resintall the hard drive in the laptop to see if it boots from it. I paid this entire Forum and found many similar problems, but no one seems to offer answers or solutions outside of a message 'we are looking inside' casual.

I tried this solution without effect. What I finally did to solve the problem, is to remove the hard drive from the laptop and insert the hard drive in the computer of a friend, once I did that the other computer booted from the USB drive very well and I managed to install the OS on the hard drive. After that I recovered the original hard drive to the laptop and booted from the hard disk and the computer was delivered very well

It seems that the main issue here is that for some reason lenovo laptops in this series are unable to start something else than the HDD for an unknown reason, perhaps it has to do with the bios update I've ever done. Anyway, problem solved, if anyone has the same problem, hope this work around works for you.

    Hello

How are you? I am new to the community.

I am facing a problem with my laptop Lenovo G 500. The memory is as follows:

When it is plugged in, the battery light is on (white color). But when I press the power on button/recover button, the power led starts for a second and then the two LED lights (power and battery) turns off. The screen blinks but turns off immediately.

I tried to unplug the power cord and took out the battery and then you press the Start button for 30 seconds and then reinstalled battery and plugged the power cord. But the same thing happens again.
