  I used first elements 9 since it was released. We were always able to add video and audio effects on the timeline. Recently, one is more able to do. When we try to drag an effect to the timeline on a clip there is a circle with a line through it. No idea why? Our source for files has not changed.

  OK, so you mentioned audio. I've noticed in EP audio track has been locked to the video track and was 5.1. I shot in stereo. So I moved the audio track to a new audio track which is stereo. BAM! All the effects work now. Thank you for helping to help/no. HAHHAA not too sure that what happened between the last few videos we shot and edited until one. Im guessing an update screwed with the prefs.

  I'm a mac user, but at work, we're stuck on Windows XP. I much prefer Final Cut. But I guess this will do on the windows of crap at the moment.

  I have a Rebel xti. I thought best to upgrade the lenses before buying new camera body. L-series lenses work effectively with xti?

  Now, I don't know that I would like to make a general statement that you need a L lens.  At least, not if you have two non - L for the price of a L and significantly expand your range of glass.

  What goals do you have?  What kind of photography do you have / want to do?  Finally pass you to full frame?

  Respond to those, and then decide what to supplement or replace.  If it's just replacing kit lens (s) then I would recommend looking at something like the 18-55 / 2.8 or the 15-85.  The 24-105 L is an objective quality and very cheap for an L, but the focal range is not quite as convenient on a culture as a full frame.  The bonus, which is fine, if you ever decide to go FF then you have lenses that will work.

  There are also primes non - L, which are large, like the 100/2.8 macro, 85/1.8 or 50/1.4.  Depends on what you are looking for.

  So I'm animating a stray light (AE Lens Flare effect applied to a black layer solid base defined on screen, Flare Center) to follow the end of the line graph "grows". I did the graphic animated by making several points of mask and application of race (solid layer) and the percentage of 'End' keyframing.

  However, I realized that I I want to change the speed in the future and it would be very useful if there was a quick way to also change the position of the center of the Lens Flare without going through a ton of keyframe points. I was wondering if there was a way I could just parent the Center Flare path at the same mask (or a way to follow) and control the speed with less keyframes or anything that works. Pickwhipping "flare Center" at the end of the line "" just changes the values both horiz and green what is the percentage.

  After searching other forums/tutorials, I've not found a way yet.

  You don't have to do it all.  Highlight the property of retouching.  All keyframes highlight.  Right click on one and use the Rove across time control.  Now when you move the beginning or ending keyframe on the timeline, between both keyframes move.  Very handy to speed up or slow down.

  1. Create a black video clip and add it to a track above your background video.
  2. Add flare to the black video clip and edit according to your needs.
  3. Add an effect of correction of color of our choice; Tint can work very well for what you want to do, or Hue/Saturation: Dennis suggested.
  4. Rotate down the opacity for the black video clip and change the linear density (add) or screen blend Mode; they'll both knock out black, but one will be "clearer" than the other.

  This will allow to color the stray light, but will not affect the video background layer. If you are not on CS4, after return. There are other ways around it

  I put in a graphic and loaded on the timeline where a a second term 4plus. I added a Lens Flare effect that I forced around the chart, so the Lens Flare effect would be to only the graphics area of the screen. Now I want the effect to cross the fastest graphics enhance the overall effect. When I right click on the clip and go to the speed / duration option, the percentage of the speed window is grayed out. When you try to use the rate Stretch tool, there is a red line through the icon.
