License cluster interconnect

Do you need to buy ports for both the subordinate and the interconnections of active tissue? I assumed it would be one license per cluster pair. After you apply a new license on a primary port of FI, I could download the same license for the subordinate, but it does not show the downloaded license file tab and the corresponding port is still without a permit.

Yes, a permit on each FI is necessary because they are not shared in a cluster.

  • SFR in license cluster mode?

If I run two ASAs in cluster mode, is there a special setting that I need to do on the modules of sfr?

The pair of cluster ASAs forwards traffic to the two modules of sfr?

Documentation is very vague on the subject of sourcefire, clustering, everything he says really is to "maintain a coherent policy on the modules of sfr and do not use areas during your period.

Are there additional licenses required? IE I have control of x 2 + protect however only 1 AMP / URL license

Does this mean that only SFR modules can process the malware and URL filtering?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Are you running the ASAs in a pair of Active-Standby HA with module of firepower on each of them?

If so, the licensing of the modules must match each module. Otherwise, you will not be able to appply URL filtering and policy file (AMP) on one of the modules.

If the ASAs are truly in a cluster 2 nodes (not active-Standby) so it is even more important that licenses match because only by flow of traffic can take another Member as a transfer device.

Ideally simply build you a set of policies in the Management Center FireSIGHT and apply them to two modules of firepower.

  • two or more frame with fabric in cluster interconnect

    Hi experts

I just want to confirm the proper way to connect two or more UCS 5108 chassis with a pair of interconnect fabric 6120xp clustered.

I though that they should connect like this: the tissue Extender first of all chassis must connect on interconnection fabric A and second all chassis tissue Expander connects to the fabric interconnect b. as on the diagram here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-5949

However, I saw someone did: 1 chassis connects as I went through although above but for the 2 chassis, fabric Extender 1 connect to the B interconnection fabric and fabric fabric Extender 2 interconnect a. -

can someone tell me which is appropriate/best practices? no reason the second chassis enjambment?

    Thank you

    Ming

Ming, you must fix this implementation.  It's like ghostbusters: do not exceed the streams!

Always systematically cable chassis fex to interconnection fabric.  Most common installation:

Interconnection of fabric (primary) is connected to the hand (looking for the rear of the chassis) left FEX

Fabric interconnect (subordinate) B is hand-bound straight FEX.

Why?  You will get errors (can't be bothered them up!) and if you move a Service profile to a chassis to another chassis that is wired differently, it will not work (CNAs wired to different financial institutions, where the living are active / inactive = bad).

PS - to change this, if I were you, I would like to turn off the entire system - fabric interconnects, chassis, everything.  then re-cable.  then turn on the fabric of the interconnections and chassis and check configurations are ok.

  • RAC extended: 2 site without interconnection SAN cluster?

    Hello:

First of all thank you for your time and your support.

We intend to deploy a Cluster extended RAC with 2 nodes (Dell PowerEdge) and SAS (Dell Powervault MD3220) 1 box on site A and the same on site B (and a third site of Quorum with vote NFS disk)

the two sites will be interconnected with high-speed redundant (interconnection of cluster) and a redundant connection to the public network.

I know that usually a SAN interconnection between site A and site B is necessary too, but the question is:

It would be possible to deploy a cluster of 2 site without SAN interconnection between site A and B?

It is possible to deploy the cluster without the dedicated storage site (SAN link) connection?

ASM may reflect storage from site A to site B and vice versa through the cluster interconnect network ?

    Best regards.

    Hello

As far as I know, we cannot build cluster without SAN interconnection between site A and site B.

No, ASM provides mirroring across SAN

  • ESA license request

I have an esa with a 500 user license + cluster (free) licenses, now we brought 2 new sec we have obtained licensing cluster that is free, now, I know that I collect all this e-mail devices, then it wil work and share the licenses to the cluster.

Now the question is that I want to delete my old DRY with a 500-user license, will have 2 new sec will continue to work after I have remove the old esa of the cluster?

    Hello

When you cluster ESA/s they do not share license information. You need to import the license keys individually for each device.

    Thank you!

  • Oracle RAC private interconnectivity problem

    Hello

We set up Oracle RAC on RHEL 6.5.

Our reference document is "deployment Oracle RAC 11 g R2 Database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6" verion 1.0 of Red Hat Reference Architecture Series.

    According to the document.

Two subnets have been used for interconnectivity.

    Two physical switches were used.

    rac.png

My Question: I see that there is a connection between two switches. What is the purpose of this link?

Please let me know example of configuration of Private Switch A and Switch B private.

    Thank you.

    Sajeeva.

Because its use of redundant interconnection function because the function HAIP is officially called would say that networks need to be in different subnets. So, if we ignore the diagram above we'll finish with the following configuration:

eth1 of each server that is running on the same subnet:

    Server1 - 10.0.1.1

    Server2 - 10.0.1.2

eth2 of each server that is running on the same subnet:

    Server1 - 10.0.2.1

    Server2 - 10.0.2.2

FAQ for IP highly available (HAIP) for version 11.2 (Doc ID 1664291.1):

"Each NIC is defined as a cluster interconnect (using oifcfg setif) on a given node will have a static ip address assigned to it and each cluster NIC interconnection on a given node must be on a single subnet."

The only advantage I see of HAIP, is that all your interfaces are active at all times where as with collage will be you almost end up with an active/passive configuration.

    Kind regards

  • May 4 ESX and ESXi 4.1 exist in the same Cluster?

    Hello all-

    Installation program:

    vSphere 4.0 Infrastructure

    • CLUSTER1 = 2 ESX 4.0 hosts (Enterprise license) (HA/DRS)

    • Networking is standard vSwitches

    • Storage is Compellent SAN Fiber Channel

    • About 20 mV

    • 2 = 2 ESX 4.0 hosts (EnterprisePlus licenses) cluster (HA/DRS)

    • Networking is Cisco Nexus 1000v Distributed Virtual Switch

    • Storage is Compellent SAN Fiber Channel

    • About 15 virtual machines

    The question is this:

How can I upgrade correctly these four hosts 4 ESX to ESXi 4.1 with very little or no interruption of service?   Yet once ESX 4 & gt; ESXi 4.1

    Notes:

    • Assume that I already have vCenter Server 4.1 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 with a compatible SQL database.

More information?  I can provide.  Can I just disable HA/DRS, upgrade to a host at a time and then add it to the respective cluster and configure?  What difficulties will be the Nexus switch vDS cause?

  • Disk groups creation fails

After having manually by selecting a desired group of HARD drive and SSD for creating a disk group, the operation took place, but there is no group created disc.

There are currently two possible problems that can be the cause of this behavior. In most cases, it has to do with Virtual SAN conceded not correctly. License cluster via the Web Client vSphere Virtual SAN. Virtual SAN feature is not automatically added to the cluster when a Virtual SAN license is added to the catalog server vCenter license.

The second possibility is the vSphere Client Web refresh time out. Depending on the number of disk groups and the number of disks, the end of the operation can take a long time. Disconnection of their system and log in.

  • Oracle RAC 11 g 2

    Dear gurus,

I'm relatively new to the RAC clusters and hoped someone could help me out here...

We have an oracle 11 GR 2 CARS running on a cluster of 3 nodes (all in a case, Cluster of interconnection running on infiniband switches).

We want to replace the machines running with new ones, also replacing the infiniband with switches passthrough.

    My plan was as follows

step 1 - MAJ running cluster interconnect with ethernet interface and unloading of infiniband switches

step 2 - Add the oracle software prepared new nodes or machines to the cluster running

step 3 - remove the old machines in the cluster (script deletenode)

Step 4: install switches passthrough and passthrough interface connecting pole shift.

Is this plan ok? Perhaps a better approach is also possible?

I also have a few questions for RAC...

    1. travel of the current cluster interconnect with local Interface... I have in total, 2 Ethernet ports per blade both in a single bonded interface, the public network of oracle running here... Can I move the cluster of interconnection on the same servile interface? or am I forced to have another Ethernet port?

    2. everything in preparing the new machines to add to the cluster running, I have to have the SAME GRID and DB version? Or only the same version of GRID?

-the current versions are 11.2.0.1 for grid and DB. Can I add this group machines that have the same version of grid (11.2.0.1) but a more recent version of the db (11.2.0.3)?

    Thank you

    Saad

    Hello

You don't need a separate option for dataguard.  If you use Oracle Enterprise Edition, you can use the free dataguard feature.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b28294/standby.htm#i72073

Oracle Data Guard is available only as a feature of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. It is not available with Oracle database Standard edition.

I would not have thought that the GI version would be useful to the dataguard.

As long you run IG at 11.2.0.3 and the BDD to 11.2.0.1, you should be fine.  You can't physical datagurd through different versions.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e10700/standby.htm#i72053

The same version of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition must be installed on the database and all data pending

  • ORA-00481 and Patch 3659289 - how to check if the patch has been applied? --

    Dear all,

Currently my client uses the oracle 10.2.0.4.0 database (RAC). However sometimes during treatment (the application attempts to write/change data), they are several ORA-00481 errors and then the database crashed. But I'd say it's an automatic restart sort of as the newspaper has said.

Trying to get on a few articles on this subject and found one saying this is due to internal bugs, and the problem solved with patch 3659289 .

So far, I couldn't find much information about this hotfix (3659289) and I need some help here.

    1. I wonder if it is the case of my customer database?
    2. how to check if this specific hotfix (3659289) has been applied?
    3. be appreciate if you have access to this patch and post the details here.

Advise, Suggestion or jokes will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thank you and best regards,

    Hi, Eric.

Sory for these last response time.

If you are looking for a special patch that is exists or not, you must run below

ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID and opatch as mention in my previous post, that it is the value

    lsinventory opatch | grep patch_no

If she reports record than his average you past. If its does not provide that the problem is that you do not have this patch

  • Verbose output for srvctl

    DB version: 10.2.0.4

I know that oracle recommends marketing and stop instance/db using SQL * more.
But with srvctl, you don't get to see the messages.
    $ srvctl stop instance -d obprod -i obprod1
    $ srvctl start instance -d obprod -i obprod1
When I tried the 'Comments' option
    $ srvctl stop instance -d obprod -i obprod1 -v
    PRKO-2002 : Invalid command line option: -v
How do I view messages (that you get with SQL * more) during the shutdown and startup when using srvctl?

    Hello

How do I view messages (that you get with SQL * more) during the shutdown and startup when using srvctl?

I always watch the process of starting and closing of the database using the database log file (alert_ . log), even using srvctl or sqlplus.
This is the best place to identify the problems during the startup and shutdown (for example the Session with the closing of the database, or see a clean boot).

    Find your alert.log on background_dump_dest:

    SQL> show parameter background_dump_dest

    NAME TYPE VALUE
    ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
    background_dump_dest string /u01/app/oracle/admin/db10g/bdump
