  • May be defective lid switch on Satellite L500-19Z

The monitor on my L500-19Z is off to angles more in lower - right now, it stops to open near 90 °.
Am I right in thinking this is probably the lid switch and if so is it what can I do about it?

I think that cover switch doesn t react when the display is open 90 °. This switch reacts when the cover is almost closed.

There must be another problem, probably display connectivity to the motherboard (wired to the display).

The warranty is still valid? Maybe you should contact Toshiba service and leave check your laptop.

  • Satellite Pro M70-275 - where is the lid switch?

    Hei,

I have problem with backlight in my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro M70-275). I think that the problem will be solved completely if I find where is the button of the cover.

I hope someone can help and guide me to the location of the switch.

    Hello

Are you sure that the problem is the lid switch? Normally if the backlight doesn t work on the screen inverter FL needs to be replaced.
What happens if you connect an external monitor to the laptop? You see an image?

The FL switch is normally placed under the cover of the display. It s a little trickier to Exchange because it is necessary to remove the plastic cover of the screen.
Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help.

  • Satellite L10-187 wakes up when the lid is closed

I got this Toshiba Satellite L10-187 for a few years now, and since I bought it I had problems with it to wake up even if the lid is closed.
Suspended or hibernation is not serious, he always wakes.

More annoying is when I have it in my backpack and I noticed that the battery has been drained, when I want to use the computer.

    Is this a known issue?

    Hello

L10 is old enough laptop model and if you noticed from the first day, I wonder why you waited so long time and didn't search for solution before. In any case, enter the BIOS settings and disable Wake up on LAN option. As far as I know wake up the system can also be result of active Windows update Service. Disable it.

Please disable both options and report us what happens now.

I can't say much on battery. Just a question: is the battery just when the laptop is in sleep/hibernation mode or this will happen even if the laptop is turned OFF?

  • How to check if the lid switch is broken on Lenovo Thinkpad X230i?

I have problems with my new Lenovo Thinkpad X230i lid switch and I would ask you how to test if the lid switch is physically broken. Since I bought the laptop a few weeks ago the laptop suspended when I closed the laptop, but still I had to press gently with my finger on the lid so that the laptop has recognized that the cover is actually closed. Now, this trick no longer works.

Now, I would like to find a way to better test if the lid switch is physically not works. I found this article in the forum: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-does-not-detect-lid-open-close/td-p/49626... and I followed the steps. I entered the BIOS and closed the cover, but on my laptop, the screen goes out, even if the cover is completely closed and even after pressing gently with your finger.

I cannot conclude now that the switch of cover material is actually broken and I need the service of Lenovo?

switch cover on the X 220 and X 230 is triggered by a magnet. The laptop enter the BIOS menu, then use a magnet and see if that turns off the display. IF this is your lid switch is working properly and the problem you are experiencing is most likely software. If it isn't then it is broken, and you need to replace.

  • Satellite L10-232: black screen after closing the lid.

    Hello

I moved my laptop (satellite L10-232) in another room, it wasn't stop (just closed it). When I opened it there was nothing on the screen and the battery is not empty (processor still does some things). Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

    Thank you

    Easy...
PowerManagement is weaker and less stable features on any laptop. (especially with the defective batteries).
NEVER try to count on the home screen etc. It will work time 999 and 1000 it don't.
Now, you're done with a laptop computer hanging.
    The ways:
    1. the easy way:
-push the power button and keep your finger on it for 10 seconds. (5 is enough, 10 to be sure)
    -remove the battery
    -plugin powercable
    -push the powerbutton

    2. the less gentle way:
    -remove the power cable
    -Remove the battery
    -wait 24 hours
    -Insert the power cable
    -push the power button

    3. the hard way: make sure THAT YOUR HARD DISK IS NOT PASSWORD PROTECTED, to OTHER YOU LOOSE YOUR DATA.
trying to understand hat is the startup key sequence to reset the BIOS at startup. (it should be described in your manual somewhere)

    4. the hardest way:! ONLY BY A PROFESSIONAL!
IF MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DISK IS NOT PROTECTED BY WORD, OTHERWISE YOU LOSE YOUR DATA.
The laptop must be open and all batteries must be removed. All the capacitors must be emptied (leaving a laptop without the battery for 72 h). Then turn on
    the laptop.

Please note that I can't be held responsible for any damage or loss of data under any circumstances.

  • Satellite L10 - could not get the wireless operation

    Hello

I reformatted my Satellite L10 and managed to pull the best of drivers to use, but I can't seem to get the wireless working.

I installed the Realtek driver http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads

I also tried to install the InProComm driver, but the installer crashes just after a while.

Anyone know what could be the problem? All solutions?

    Thank you

    Naushad

    Hello

What operating system do you use?
I checked Toshiba driver download page and looked for the driver for Satellite L10. Here, I can only find a driver Intel WLAN for Vista and the driver InProComm for XP but I can t find a Realtek WLAN driver.
It seems that your laptop is equipped with an Intel card check so the Toshiba site again:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Before you install the driver WLAN make sure that WIFI is turned on with the hardware switch on the computer laptop and FN + F8.

  • Satellite L10-202 & Creative Audigy ZS PCMCIA Notebook2 - does not work

    Hello!

I bought Notebook Audigy 2 PCMCIA yesterday and I have a big problem. My laptop Toshiba Satellite L10-202 (Celeron M 1.6, 512 DDR, PCCARD II with Texas Instruments PCCARD controller 1410) does not detect the card Audigy.

What should I do to solve my problem? I have a pcmcia controller update?

Help me, please... I don't know what I have to do...

    Kuba

    Hello

I don't know if an update of the PCMCIA controller will help solve this problem of m.
I think you should first check some settings in the BIOS. There should be a configuration of device option. Here, you can switch to Setup OS or all devices.
If it has been set for all devices, you will be able to change the PC Card controller mode.

    Check it out.

    Hello

I have a portable Satellite L10 that comes without WLAN.
I bought and installed an Intel pro wireless 2200BG card on the MiniPCi slot. I have also installed and connected the mini-antennes.

The device is activated but does not connect. I installed ConfigFree and the result was: "status of Communication Wireless: OFF." Switch where the arrow is pointing. "My laptop does not have this button, a plastic cap is here.

Also, the combination FN + F8 does nothing.
How can I solve this problem?
How can I put it ON without having this button?

    Thank you.

  • Satellite L10 151: I can't install Wireless Lan

Since September, I have this Toshiba Satellite L10 151 with wireless card. I tried to activate the card, but it still shows as disabled when I look at the properties.

I am currently using a Modem BT Voyager 2000 Wireless ADSL, I have to use it with an Ethernet cable to use the internet, which is not ideal when my sister wants to use its desktop pc.

I followed the instructions in the box of BT Voyager but you can configure not wireless.

I need instructions in secular s words on how to activate wireless on the laptop.

    Hello

First of all check if Device Manager the WiFi card is that there are enumerated and installed correctly. After that, use the wireless switch and allow the wireless connection. Using the FN + F8 key combination you can see if the wireless is enabled or disabled.

If you are sure that your wireless card is properly enabled, open the properties of the wireless network and go to the wireless networks tab. If your wireless router is enabled it must be visible under networks available option.

If you can see it, configure it and enjoy life.
Don t forget assign IP address automatically.

  • Satellite L10: I want to install a wireless connection - how?

I have a satellite L10... and I want to install a wireless connection on the help on the config free pages it is said that the alternative "quick connect" appears after the installation of the projector toshiba wireless... it is what? and is anyone knows how I can do this without getting more confused?

    Hello

    It's Toshiba projector Wireless:
    http://www.ProjectorCentral.com/Wi-fi_toshiba_tlp-T501.htm
As you can see it's not a fast connection wireless card or something like that.

First of all, it would be very interesting to know the name of your unit, because I know if your laptop has a wireless card or if it of possible to update the device with the Mini-PCI Wireless card.

If your laptop has a wireless card so you need activate the wireless antenna. The switch on the side of the unit, you should find. In addition, choose the wifi with the FN + F8 key combination.
Well, now you have an AccesPoint in your neighborhood. If there isn't one available then you should see it. Go to network connections. Here, you must select the list of wireless network in network and refresh.

But if you have a wireless card so you need to upgrade your laptop with the minPCI card, or the wireless USB stick or a PCMCIA wireless card

  • Fan with Satellite L10

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10 and in the past months, he has been making more more more hot that I use. There occaisionally off overheating - once the fan had been working uninterrupted since the start. last week the fan completely stopped working. And now the laptop stay for less than 10 minutes, overheats and shuts down.

I cleaned the fan better as I could, but unlike other laptops, there is no way to remove it from its position to clean. Is it possible to have the fan replaced? Someone at - it any other suggestions as to what may be the issue? There is no other symptoms aside from the fan is spinning at all.

I can't really have to do with buying a new laptop that I am a student and lack funds a little to replace it. If anyone has useful directions for steps to resolve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

    Oli

    Hello

In my opinion, the fan and the malfunctions cooling module and it should be replaced or cleaned professionally.
It very stupid situation of s that the guarantee is not valid more, but as the previous user said the laptop must be verified by an authorized partner.

Anyway, there is another possibility. You can visit a nearest computer technician and may ask for a professional cleaning. If the professional cleaning and new thermal grease will not help to prevent the overheating of laptop I recommend to replace the cooling modules.
Each part can be ordered from the ASP in your country.

By the way; I found a statement detailed how open the Satellite L25. This series of laptop is very similar to the L10.
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaL25/satellite_L25_laptop_overclocking_1.htm

But note; If you don't have any experience please don t remove the lids and don t disassemble the laptop yourself!

  • Satellite L10-119 - Win XP green bar is happening and happening again

    Hi all.

I have a computer model toshiba satellite L10-119.

It was working great until some time he began to delay a lot at the start.
Specifically in the Win XP loading screen that this green bar is happening and happening again and again.

I have if it can be a program or driver or even a virus that delays the start after some effort I decided to do a format and therefore a clean install of Win Xp (using the supplied by Toshiba with the notebook installation CD).

Everything has been installed perfectly, and indeed this laptop has been commissioning within a normal period...

When I turned on the laptop the next morning he started to again delay the start to the top! Once again to the Win Xp loading screen!

When he finally connected to Windows I did immediately a reboot but this time it starts very well!

Just to sum up things... computer laptop .the delays at startup ONLY if I leave it off for a long period of time (i.e. for a day or more). And as in the first start! If it starts the first time and session windows logs I can stop or restart for as many times as I like (consequtively) and it connects without any delay.
However, if I let him off for a day or more and then turn it on, this model a lot to log windows! And we are talking about a 4-5 minute wait time! The waiting time is increased according to the time that the laptop has switched from...

I tried to install winXP even using another CD but I still have the same problem.
I though it was a battery problem, so I removed completely, but I still have the same problem...

FYI the laptop is always in the power socket. And FYI when it connects to windows performance is also great. No delay at all. The only delay is starting...

If anyone could help me or has an idea how to solve this really strange problem I'd appreciate much.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I guess it's very old notebook and I think that the HARD drive was not replaced in the last time
It s only I guess, but I think you should check if the HARD drive does not start to malfunction.
I doubt that there could be something wrong with the battery because the battery would not affect the start-up procedure it has no influence on the performance of the OS.

So it could be either something wrong with the part as a HARD drive, you know

You can try to download the HDD drive fitness test.
This tool is free and it will help you check the HARD disk for errors

  • Satellite L10-204 does support mini PCI slot?

    Hello, all.
In a first time - sorry for my English ;-)
I would like to install a wireless card and I don't know if my computer (Toshiba Satellite L10-204) have a mini PCI slot? I prefer the mini PCI card PCMCIA card, because in my opinion, they are better in some aspects.
    DRM for me, cheers!

    Hmm? ¦ bad news man.
The wireless card is not available on this laptop and it cannot be upgraded too.
This means that WLan minPCI slot is not present.

You will need to switch to an external solution. Maybe an external USB WiFi key is an option for you. If this isn't the case, then you can use the PCMCIA WLan card!
