Broken BACKSPACE key, replacement? (Satellite L10)

Cleaning of my key and the BACKSPACE key broke.

Satellite L10 281

Anyone help out me on how I would go to get a replacement?

Useless Toshiba site can't find one thing.

As far as I know that it is not possible to Exchange simple buttons just the entire keyboard. Call the Toshiba service. Maybe they have a keyboard used, where you can get the necessary button.

    Hello

In my opinion your FN buttons do not work properly because of missing drivers.
    Do you agree with me?

So the only solution may be to visit European driver of Toshiba and reinstall the software.
Drivers and tools are in the area of the Archive of the European driver page.

I recommend to install first the common Modules and then follow the installation instructions in install Instructions txt file.

By the way; These themes have been discussed here several times. So search first.

  • Replacement of battery for Satellite L10-114

    Hello

I'm looking for a replacement battery for my Satellite L10, bought in September ' 05. Not the battery. is PA3420U-1BRS, 14, 4V Li-ion 4300mAh and I can't find an exact replacement on this site under the Accessories heading.

This battery has been replaced by another with a similar number of the part?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

    Mike

    Hello!

Just google for this number of battery, and I am sure you will find some dealers in your area. You can also search PABAS059, PA3420U-1BRS, PA3420U-1BAS, PA3420U-1BAC and PA3450U-1BRS, these are the same types.

  • Many combinations of Fn keys do not work on my Satellite L10

Hi, I had a portable Satellite L10, used with a lot of software. However, many of the key with the Fn key combinations do not work. FN more Esc, F6 F12 and the arrows above, everything works, but others that I can't do. Is it possible that they have somehow been disabled? If so, how can they be enabled again?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Hello

Please see the following [SITE | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp], choose the machine that you have and the operating system that is installed, download all the drivers and tools and install them, no matter if they´re already installed or not.

Eventually the FN keys should work again. If not, back up all your important data from the HARD disk and perform a reinstallation of your operating system with the embedded restore CD. The installation goes automatically, so Don t be worried.
After recovering from the machine, the keys MUST work.

  • Replacement of transistor on Satellite L10-104

    Hello everyone,

I have a Satellite L10-104. My problem is that my monitor didn' rooms discovered anything. I turn on my laptop and it works but I don't see anything. I saw that there is a Transistor or something like that on the motherboard, which is destroyed.

It is in the close not USB-slot on the back of my laptop. It is located next to the resistant R8. I want to change the unit of construction, but I can't read the label. I can just read w... but the rest is destroyed. I know it's a bad description, but I hope someone can help me.

I need the name of this thing. Maybe someone can give a circuit diagram, or something like that, for me.

    Best regards.
    Carina

Don t think that someone here will be able to help you because the patterns of the motherboard are not for public use so no one here could post a link or anything that would lead to this teaching

I think your last option is the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country

But I put t think it would be possible to repair the motherboard on the simple fact is that you need to remove this small part, with the help of a soldering station if you need experience in electronics and soldering

  • The internal keyboard BACKSPACE key does not work

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite and the BACKSPACE key does not work.

He will start work the rare opportunity, but then it just stops working again.
This happens on everything, including word and internet ect.

It has been like that for a few weeks now and I turned the laptop and turn off many times.
Is there a way to fix it myself or I send for repair?

    Please, * don't * tell me:
    Get an external keyboard
Try it turn on and off
Just highlight the words and use the delete key - it's annoying to have to do this all the time
Type carefully and do not make so many mistakes

    Thank you!

    > Please, don't tell me not to:
    > Get an external keyboard

And why shouldn't t someone recommends you to check the functionality using the external keyboard?

It s recommended to connect an external keyboard to verify how the BACKSPACE key would work using 2nd external keyboard. In case the back might work properly using USB keyboard, the question is very clear; in such cases its main shortcomings. The key cannot be replaced or changed or fixed. In this case, need to replace the entire keyboard!

In case the BACKSPACE key does not even using the external keyboard, then this would mean that the internal keyboard controller is faulty and in this case only the replacement motherboard would be useful.

But to be honest, I think that its simple keyboard failure and a replacement would solve this.

  • Satellite L10 - Hotkey.exe error after booting Windows 2000

I've installed Windows 2000 on my Satellite L10 rather
XP. After installing the utility Hotkey-I get an Error Message at every boot:

Hotkey.exe - Entry Point not found
The procedure entry point WTSUnRegisterSessionNotification could not be loaded into the WTSAPI32.dll dynamic link library.

Same error Message When you try to manually start the Hotkey.exe.

How can I solve this problem? The system works, but the
    Keys not.
Thank you in advance for help!

P.S.: As I read on the web, this error has nothing to do with the missing operating system XP - maybe the HotKey software does not work with Windows 2000. Where can I get a Hotkey software work for Windows 2000 for Satellite L10?
I try to find it on the download from Toshiba site, but there is that some drivers for the L10 on Toshiba.com and the European server are only readers for XP :(

    Hi turmeric

All the drivers, tools, and utilities are designed separately for each operating system. This means that you can not use tools designed for Windows XP Home edition with other operating system. You don't find utilities and tools because your device is not supported for the Windows 2000 operating system.
    I'm sorry.

  • Satellite L10-270 - error Power Saver, utility

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-270 and because no standby power utility has been installed on.

Then I looked for the Toshiba Power Saver, utility and try to install it, but I was unable to make it work. The battery is very low, I really need this software to work.

    Sometimes I get a message:

"A fatal error has occurred. The program will end.
    "Code: Ox7E.

    And sometimes the message:

«Cannot be opened because you do not have access rights to use «Toshiba power saver»»

I hope you can help me, all brands have a power management utility work, I was hoping that it was the same for Toshiba. I hope!

Any solution, a way to run the Toshiba Power Saver or any other software that could replace it.

I have another question, where can I find the phone numbers and e-mail technical support or service after sale?

    Thank you.

    Hello

The energy saving was not preinstalled on this unit because this utility is not supported on this device (Satellite L10-270).
It would be very interesting to know where you found this tool?
I put t I think that this energy saving will not work properly because it was designed for another unit. In this case, you must use the Power Options of Microsoft Windows that you can find in the Panel

In addition if you want to contact technical support please visit this site. You will find detailed information.

  • Satellite L10-232: black screen after closing the lid.

    Hello

I moved my laptop (satellite L10-232) in another room, it wasn't stop (just closed it). When I opened it there was nothing on the screen and the battery is not empty (processor still does some things). Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

    Thank you

    Easy...
PowerManagement is weaker and less stable features on any laptop. (especially with the defective batteries).
NEVER try to count on the home screen etc. It will work time 999 and 1000 it don't.
Now, you're done with a laptop computer hanging.
    The ways:
    1. the easy way:
-push the power button and keep your finger on it for 10 seconds. (5 is enough, 10 to be sure)
    -remove the battery
    -plugin powercable
    -push the powerbutton

    2. the less gentle way:
    -remove the power cable
    -Remove the battery
    -wait 24 hours
    -Insert the power cable
    -push the power button

    3. the hard way: make sure THAT YOUR HARD DISK IS NOT PASSWORD PROTECTED, to OTHER YOU LOOSE YOUR DATA.
trying to understand hat is the startup key sequence to reset the BIOS at startup. (it should be described in your manual somewhere)

    4. the hardest way:! ONLY BY A PROFESSIONAL!
IF MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DISK IS NOT PROTECTED BY WORD, OTHERWISE YOU LOSE YOUR DATA.
The laptop must be open and all batteries must be removed. All the capacitors must be emptied (leaving a laptop without the battery for 72 h). Then turn on
    the laptop.

Please note that I can't be held responsible for any damage or loss of data under any circumstances.

  • Keyboard replacement Satellite P10 804

HI - so like a fool I spilled water on my keyboard - I immediately switched it off and dry it gently for a few days. All they keys work except for the BACKSPACE key. So I guess I need a replacement keyboard. My laptop is out of its warranty - I'm in the United Kingdom. I think I could replace it myself - is it possible to order as a spare part and install it myself?

Or would I need to pay Toshiba or one of its service partners to replace the keyboard? I looked at the site of Toshiba Computer Systems, but can

    Hello

the same thing happened to me a few years ago. I don't know what happens to the United Kingdom, because I am in Germany. But that's what I did: I took the keyboard out of the machine (was easy enough) and I tried to clean it, but without success. So I went to a service partner and the technician replaced it with a used keyboard (which was cheaper) and I only had to pay for the room itself.

  • 'Bad Machine' error when I start the recovery on Satellite L10 media

    Hello...

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-103 and I want to make the recovery, since I have constant errors and my wireless does not work.

When I put on CD, everything is ok, I press F12 and get the choice when I want to access computer. I select the CD/DVD drive. That produces the recovery starts and I get this error message:

"Wrong Machine! This software is designed for personal computers TOSHIBA '

    What's wrong with it?

    Hello

Are you sure that the recovery CD you are using is designed for Satellite L10 - 103 to 110%?
    Please check this!

But if you use the same recovery CD that came with the laptop, and you still get the same error message, then the false DMI information that is stored on the motherboard might be responsible for this error message and might prevent to recover.

This can occur if the motherboard has been replaced and that the technician has not updated the DMI string.

  • Satellite L10 DVD Super Multi Drive - E/s of entry Error Message

Does anyone know why, when I try to play a CD or CD-ROM, I get a box saying i/o error of entry?
I have a Satellite L10 with a DVD super multi drive. It can read DVDs and DVD ROM

I thought maybe it was a cable connected the drive itself, but if it's that I need how out of the car and how to support.

I tried updating the driver and uninstall it then reinstall the drive, but I still have the same problem.
Cannot use the accompanying software as is all the cd.

    Please can someone help me.
    Thank you

    Hello

In most cases the entrance of e/s, error message is related to a hardware malfunction (CD/DVD drive).
The readers of the lens laser can not calibrate properly and therefore it can not read the CD inserted.
These errors are not uncommon and occur mostly after a long period of use due to a material stressed.

    But let's check the last possibility of solution;
Go to Device Manager and remove the drive from the list of devices CD/DVD.
Then start the registry (regedit) and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then, restart the computer and check if it of possible to read CDs.
