• How to limit the voltage common mode for the switch

  The user manual mentions a maximum of ±12V ground for my switch (pxi-2536) but I do not see an entry in the field on the pinout of the connector. If I have a floating supply, should I connect the ground to the chassis on the ground on the back of the PXI? Is there a better way to limit the common mode voltage?

  Thank you specify, it makes much more sense!  The best way to go about this that seems will be grounded to the negative terminal of your power supply to ground the chassis security, as I think you suggested at the beginning.  I don't know what frame you have, but you should be able to find a "Reason for connection security" section in the manual. For example, here are the 1044 chassis manual, with the present article is on page 2-4. http://www.NI.com/PDF/manuals/371360a.PDF

  This should take care of it and avoid Earth loops!

  I am looking for a free solution to make monthly backups of my routers (2821), Catalyst (X 3650, 3750-X) switches and ASA (5510). I'm in a Windows environment and have you not mind doing a bit of coding.

  I did some research looking at other popular solutions:

  -SNMP and a combination of Bash scripts, but that does not support switches Catalyst from what I've read.

  -Rance, on Linux & OS X, not something common in our environment

  -Tools of Tao kiwi, not free

  Is there something (or if applicable, somethings) that I am missing that will do this from a Windows environment for free?

  If you are looking for a centralized solution and you machine to act as a collector, rancid is really the best option (if you can allow non-windows machines).

• Several ports to listen for SSH on Catalyst switches

  Hello community,

  On Cisco routers, you can set up multiple SSH ports (instead of the default tcp 22) in combination with rotary groups. Then attach these rotating groups of specific VTY lines. It works very well.

  But it seems on Cisco switches, you cannot set different ports of SSH. The order Router(config) #ip ssh port portnum Rotary group is not available. You can use the rotating on the VTY lines, but it does for Telnet connections.

  Did someone knows if it is possible to use rotating groups on switches with SSH? What I'm trying to achieve is, I want to use multiple lists of AAA method and define these specific VTY lines slot. In this way, I am able to designate specific users, connecting from specific IP on a dedicated VTY line addresses, with a personalized list of AAA method.

  Any help is very appreciated!

  I finally solved this annoying problem, my laptop is a Satellite A660-18

  Out of the box it just wouldn't connect to the wireless network. With the combination of keys Fn + F8 of the report: "Wireless communitcation is disabled, please enable the wireless communication switch.

  Of course there is no such switch, just the FN + F8 key combination. After having tried various forums and technical support, I solved the problem myself.

  The solution is:
  Go to the folder on your c drive "program files\Toshiba\TBS. Then scroll down the list of program files and double-click the file named TBSWireless.exe and hey presto, wireless communication goes on (Amber Light lights on the lower right front of the computer). Now the combination of FN + F8 key it will turn on and.

• C3750 interVLAN routing - no internet access for customer switches

  I have a stupid question with my itinerary (intervlan).

  I have a test configuration to a stack of C3750 as core and a few 2960's like access switches.

  http://users.fraeco.be/setup.png - switch at the bottom is the new network (VLANNED). The switches on the left is the current network of production (10.1.1.0/24)

  The C3750 to the router is a 30 network.

  There will be 6 VLAN but at the moment I have one configured. VLAN50 - 10.5.1.0/24

  The C3750 I can ping my network current production, internet, other VLANs in the testsetup... Everything.

  Of the C2960 I can ping other VLAN, join the entry door, reach the router, reached the currenct production network. But I can't reach internet. I have configured 'ip default-gateway 10.5.1.254' on the C2960. C3750 relevant config is down below.

  How can I reach other networks connected to the router and the internet not switches to access? I'm trying just to ping 8.8.8.8.

  I have no idea about your configuration exactly but for the account information that u as far as I can tell... Configure all the respective host to its ip address vlan respective gateway.

  There should be a static route pointing to the router on the switch of the MLS.

  And also, make sure that it should be static (or entered dynamic in case you use PGI) of all subnets of VLANs pointing to the ip directly connected inverter MLS.

  It will certainly work.

• SG300 security problem for the Switch

  I think it's a security risk to have a port configured as anything other than access if it's only to be "dumb" connected hosts (printers, workstations, etc.).  So, I usually only assign the VLAN management as the PVID of a trunk port that goes to a server or another switch / virtual machine host and a port configured in the access mode with him VLAN management implemented because its PVID (unidentified), and then a PC can be connected directly to access the web management interface.

  My concern is that no matter what VLAN I assign a port to, both when trunk or access, I can connect a PC and navigate to any IP VLAN (*. 254) and press canvas logical interface of the switch.  What a security risk?  How can I configure the switch so that the only way to access the management interface is via a host that is directly connected to a port that has the management VLAN, as is PVID?

  That sounds about right. But something can be done about it.

  Let's say that there are management VLAN 10. Also, there is a production 5 VLAN - 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. It is a place that allows traffic to pass from one VLAN to the other router.

  Someone of VLAN 50 will be able to access the 10 VLAN (VLAN management).

  By implementing a firewall on the router we can restrict access to certain hosts or networks to VLAN 10. For example, VLAN 20 is admin VLAN (your computer is connected to this VLAN), so we load the firewall to reject all traffic to VLAN 10 unless it comes from VLAN 20.

  At this point, there will be no access to the page web of the switch to anyone else than you.
