Lightroom (import from multiple locations)

Hello

I'm fairly new to lightroom.  I am trying to import my photos in several locations in Lightroom.  However; When I use the option import into Lightroom, the entire catalogue of images that I previously imported gets erased and replaced by the last selection that I imported? -Don't you must manually create a folder with your pictures/videos in, or can "add you" to a catalog instead of an import replaces what was originally in your catalog.

Thanks in advance

In the import dialog box, if you have the "ignore duplicate files" checked, that already imported files will appear for you.

In the library module, there is the "previous import" group, which changes with each import do you.

If you do not create your own groups to put the pictures, the folder hierarchy will be the way to find.

  • CC will be accessible from multiple locations after the purchase?

For some reason, I am unable to access the "Buy now" screen when you try to buy a CC offer time-limited for students ($15.99 / month a) from my laptop. I wonder if I proceed with the purchase of another computer, I would be able to have access to a serial number of this purchase that would allow me to improve my system of the free trial version to the version purchased on my laptop?

    Thank you!

There is no serial number with CC. You can simply sign in and in turn that means that you understand your connection problems on the dysfunctional machine one way or the other, without worrying. Just work the internet connection is required.

  • Ways to speed up the import from iphone?

I'm under Screen Shot 2016-09-29 at 10.14.06 AM.png with the last update on my iphone 6 s.

Import about 400 photos takes almost half an hour.  Whereas, with the Photos app its less than 10 minutes.

I heard that Lightroom does more with the photos then import the photos as face detection XML sidecars geo-tagging app etc.  But all that is impossible after import?  Is it possible to get just the things on the phone/card in order to eject and go about my day while Lightroom makes some other analytics picture he wants?

    Thank you

Based on the only time wherever I left Lightroom Import from my Android phone, my recommendation would be to manually transfer the images from the phone to the computer, then let the LR to import the images from the hard drive.

  • I moved the files in Lightroom 5 from one drive to another (created the new folder and dragged).  Now I see warning of metadata.  What has caused this?  Can I import or rewrite the difficulty catalogue?

I am reorganizing lots of photos in Lightroom 5.  Some who were on my hard drive, I moved to an external drive.  I did all this in Lightroom.  I created a new folder on the hard drive, external, selected all the images in the folder on the hard disk, trained to the new folder.  Made sure they were there.  Then deleted the folder on the hard drive.  When I looked in Windows Explorer, the (empty) folder was still on the hard drive, so I deleted it there too.  Now, I get the warning on the images in the new folder metadata were changed in Lightroom and an external program.  The options are to import from disk or rewrite from the catalog.  I would like to know what caused this and how to fix it.

Thanks for the clarification of Nancy.

The warning of "metadata conflicts" is an indication that Lightroom "sees" a discrepancy between the data in its catalog and the data in the image file (or in the xmp file) on the real situation which could be due to permissions at the new location.

You should choose the option to replace the parameters, that is, rewrite in the Lightroom Catalog can write changes to metadata of the catalog itself.

(Import of the disc would cancel the metadata changes that you did until now)

  • How to import from an external hard drive to LightRoom.

I'm brand new creative cloud and LightRoom. I have read and listened to the import from card memory, but I'm not sure how to import since the backup of my old Mac Pro drive to my new iMac. The external drive is already the backup for the new iMac, is connected and works. I can see the HARD drive in the LR Panel and you can find the 'pictures' folder in the drop-down list. I don't know if the 'folder of photos (on the left panel) is the old b/u or the iMac HARD drive. I can get to where I need to be so I can understand what I'm looking at and what I should look for that for the 2 discs HARD, p/c or iMac. I know the right panel, but the interactions are completely unknown to me. Thanks for any help and advice. TCrowe

If you are importing from a hard disk, then you don't need to worry about the right panel in the import dialog box. This would allow you to locate the file you want to import in the left panel. At the top of the import screen you choose the option 'Add '. This will add these images to your catalog without having to move them anywhere. If you want to place copies on another hard drive then you would choose the option copy the top of import. Then the right panel will allow you to specify where you want to place copies.

  • I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now want to import some RAF b HD files

I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now have to import some RAF of the HD files but LR shows them as dazed out and said that they have already been imported when I hover over the thumbnail. I have this problem when importing files in the same HD Canon CR2, and who have been treated exactly the same. Anyone got a clue as to why this is happening? Thanks, Phil

    Hi Phil,

If Lightroom then reads these as duplicate files, it shows that they are already present in your Lightroom Catalog.

You can search by file name and check if the image is present in your library.

  • When you try to import from Sony. The ARW in Lightroom 5.7 files I received the following message: the files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. (3) what is the problem?

Why do not accept Lightroom 5.7 import from Sony. ARW format?

This version of the LR does not see your new Sony camera RAW files.

  • Lightroom 6.3 cannot import from computer HD

6.3 LR is no longer able to import images from anywhere on my HD computer!  Library photo previews are grey (no image at all).  If I double click on the preview, I can see the picture but trying to import hang up (no images found).

Import from card reader or a camera works very well.  All solutions?

If the new catalog has also done the same, then we suggest you to reinstall the Lightroom application.

    Kind regards

  • I open Lightroom import images from an SD card move to develop and receive a disabled development msg module.

I open Lightroom import images from an SD card move to develop and receive a msg saying that develop the Module is disabled.  Close lightroom, reopen and sign in.  I am registered and every time I close lightroom and open again, I get the same msg. What am I not doing?

What mistake you found is because of permissions problems. Check out this link.

Error in downloading, installing or updating Adobe Creative Cloud applications

Setup cannot write files in a certain folder because it is marked as a system folder and your username does not have write permission.

The latest version of Lightroom is CC 2015.3. LR CC 2015 is out for about 9 months with 5 updates, 1, 1.1,.2,. 2.1 and maintenant.3.

Clearly, you have not a newer version. In fact, you're 6 behind, communicated LR 5.7.1 and 5 that I posted above.

  • Lightroom: Time to Capture for videos imported from iphoto does not appear in the metadata

Hi, I imported all my photos and videos from iphoto to Lightroom recently with iphoto import plugin.  I think that all my photos have been imported, but I noticed that all my videos have no capture time, while they became grouped in my collections.  But I think that I can still see their capture time in the 'gray' text on each photo.  Why did this happen and how to solve this problem?  I really want my time to capture in video metadata, and I also want to see my videos in chronological order on the right with my videos.   Strangely, the videos imported into Lightroom directly from my camera SD card do not have this problem, don't do that those imported from iphoto.  Thank you!

LR does not correctly manage video metadata in general, and in particular, he often misses capture time.  Sometimes it works: choose a video, make metadata > edit Capture time and then click all change (without actually modifying the corrected time).  If that sets the time of capture at the right time, you can select all the videos of problem, metadata > edit Capture time, and then click all change.   If you have a small number of videos, you can manually fix the capture time to help change the Capture time.

See for more information in the official forum for feedback from Adobe for more details, vote on it and give your opinion: Lightroom: metadata applied to videos in Lightroom is not available in other applications

  • import from a hard drive on a mac

I use LR5 for the first time on a free trial version. I am trying to import my photos from the hard drive on my mac. As soon as I clicked on import, then pictures he says no photos found. I have pictures and photos in iPhoto on my mac, but I can't locate interface LR5.

You cannot directly import from iPhoto, using the Lightroom Import dialog box.

I think that in versions of LR 5 prior to version 5.7, you would have to export photos from iPhoto first and then import into Lightroom.

In LR 5.7 or later, LR 6 or Lightroom CC 2015, there is a built-in feature to import from iPhoto.

  • Import from SD card does not store the files on hard drive, but only references to SD card after import.

Hi - for some reason, files of my card SD imported into lightroom, but referencing only the SD itself card and as files within the usual on my macintosh HD library, of course, when I eject the SD of my iMac, lightroom do not know where the files are more. I tried to delete LR and re-import but the same thing happened. I also saved the DCIM folder on desktop and tried to import from there, but again, it is important files directly to my address in LR, which means that I have to keep my SD card. I use LR for a while and this is the first time that this has happened. I imported the files to another SD card later and everything worked as it should. I really want to make sure that my original files are where they should be on the hard disk and in LR, so I can safely eject my card and not to lose my files. Can someone tell me how to go about this please?

When you perform the import, you must select the COPY option, and under the Destination on the side right, you must select a location on one of your hard drives.
