Lightroom Smart Object disappeared

I edited photos in Lightroom to help edit in Photoshop using Smart Object.

I saved to Lightroom and I exported the final images very well... but

A day later I went back to make changes and my smart images are no where to be seen.

Obviously a noobie question, but how to see them again?

You are in a collection: portraits of Web site. Are you sure that the photoshopped file is part of this collection? Simply click on a parent file of lets you put in Photoshop. "Right mouse-> go to the folder to library." Look over there, if you find your file.

  • Citing the free transform on the smart object place encompassing top left

I've got something weird going on in PS CC 2015. It runs on a computer Windows 10. I placed a psd file of a company in the active document logo. I shot it, scaled and added some layer styles. Then at some point I had to resize it again, so I called the free transform command, but now the framework encompassing loads in the upper left corner of the document. Any changes to one of the settings in the Panel Options F. T. causes the logo to disappear completely, even if I can go back to the default values. This occurs only after I added a mask to the layer. Without the mask, everything works fine - add the mask, and I get this oddity.

    No idea why?

  • Photoshop - artifacts on Vector Image smart object

    Hi people,

This is my first post. There may be a response to this somewhere on the forum already, but I can not just understand the search terms to use because the question is so specific.

I have an image that has been live traced in Illustrator, then placed in a Photoshop document. The photo was traced to the highest possible fidelity in order to maintain the good detail. It was traced from an image of 72 DPI in order to raise the quality of a print run of 300 ppi. The problem I have is with the anti-aliasing in the dough or the place function (it happens to be) in Photoshop. I copied the part of the vector image and moved the opposite side of the object, as it was necessary for the design and then grouped it upward with the main object. In the image below, I circled the part copied in red:

    RGPUe49.jpg

All sounds good in Illustrator, but when I paste or place it in Photoshop with active anti-aliasing, then a plethora of imperfections arise as wavy lines grey in passing a copy of the vector image, which I hope you will see below:

    YO8isvP.jpg

If it is difficult to distinguish, simply compare the flowers duplicated on top left of the image of the original on the right of the image.

If I turn off anti-aliasing at the image collage/placement, then these grey imperfections disappear, but the mix of colors and the edges of the leaves and flowers become jagged black background. To this end, I need to have the anti-aliasing feature enabled at the time of the image in Photoshop to maintain high image quality I'm after. The final image below shows what happens to the color of fusion when I do not use anti-aliasing:

    xv0DXfw.jpg

I hope someone can tell me what I'm missing here. The problem affects only the part a copy of the vector image. I guess this is where lies the answer, and so must be something that I have to change/do with the original in Illustrator vector so that it copies all information correctly; I don't know what it is that I need to change.

    Thanks in advance, people.

    Ben

Update: I managed to find a solution, even if I can't always work on what caused the problem in the first place.

The solution was to duplicate the vector smart object containing the flowers (circled in red in the first frame in OP) I duplicated originally from extended trace. I suspect it's just a quirk with anti-aliasing when you work with vectors in Photoshop. I can't be certain if.

  • Camera Raw open as smart object is not re-opening Camera Raw on double click!

I can't get the Camera Raw dialog to reappear after I open an image as a smart object in Photoshop.

Note that I'm opening Photoshop CS6, no bridge or Lightroom. I use Open as... (Shift-Ctrl-Alt-O), then select Camera Raw in the file Type drop-down list to open a standard PSD file. It happens in the Camera Raw dialog box. After that making edits (and savings as a preset) I SHIFT-click on the CR Open button to change to Open ACE Object.

It happens in Photoshop with the changes. The thumbnail of the layer shows the small icon of the smart object to this topic. But when I double-click on top the dialogue came not from Camera Raw. Instead, Photoshop opens what appears to be a copy built of the original image with no editing. It carries the extension .psd, not the usual .psb extension. In addition, any changes to this document and save it has bizarre results on the original image.

I swear to you that I managed to do work once earlier today, but now he does this again and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I thought that maybe that's a small problem, but rebooting did not help.

Thanks if you can understand this a ton!

Since I realized this file to open a JPG or PNG (and probably a RAW) as Camera Raw works very well. In other words, I can edit in Camera Raw, and then shift-click to Open the Object and the smart object works fine in Photoshop. It's only when I try to open a PSD file type by using the file > open as... (File type: Camera Raw) I get the weird behavior when I opened CR mods as a smart object. Someone know why it works with a JPG or PNG format, but does not work with a PSD file?

AFTER THAT I have the JPG or PNG opened as a smart object, I can then save it as a PSD and smart objects work fine.

  • Transform will not work on a smart object in Photoshop CC 2015

I can't to scale the smart object. I take the transformation handles and pull it where I want, but when I let go of the handle the transformation box disappears and the image returns to its original size. He will not keep the transformation.

It's been a while, but I know that I've done it before. A suggestion that I read was to rasterize the smart object. Who does not use the transformation, but it removes the ability to open the smart object and make adjustments in Camera Raw. When I'm compositing, I want to use the smart object to quickly set things like the color temperature.

    Anyone know the solution?

Try to reset your preferences: ctrl/cmd-alt/opt-shift at the start of the PS.

  • Smart object editing: move the tool doesn't work does not correctly

If I use Photoshop via 'open as smart object in Photoshop' in Lightroom, make a selection (using the magnetic lasso) then try to move the selection, the whole image moves (and not only the selection).

But if I edit the image via "Edit in Photoshop" I can make a selection and move it properly. What I'm doing wrong with the function "smart object"?

    Hi quilkin,.

This is an expected behavior for a dynamic object. When you 'Open as smart object,' Lightroom going on your original (usually raw image) source file to PS and PS places in a wrapper (the dynamic object) and returns a flattened image of the result.

When you double-click the thumbnail of the dynamic object, you can change the contents of the dynamic object. If your original data is a raw file, this will open in Camera Raw.

If you want to select an area and make changes, you must do one of two things:

    1. Rasterize the smart object (which defeats the purpose of having a dynamic object), or
    2. Make a rasterized copy on a top layer (create a new layer above the smart object, and then press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E or Cmd-Opt-shift-E to "Merge visible layers". Make your changes on the new copy of layer, keeping the original data in the smart object.

Dynamic objects offer a wealth of versatility, if make you use of their right of way. If you want to learn more about smart objects in Photoshop, check out my series of tutorials on this topic: working with objects in dynamic in Photoshop - a Compilation of tutorial - Mike Hoffman

    I hope this helps!

  • RE: Camera Raw and smart objects

    Hello everyone.

    I have a question please.

Inside of the 8.1 camera raw workflow options, I checked the box to open in Photoshop as smart objects.

I noticed inside the Camera Raw, open the Image box to turn to, the open object box.  I clicked open, and he opened the Image as objects inside Photoshop the Smart.

If I make changes to the Image, and if I Double click on the smart object, it will open in Camera Raw again which is good.

I also noticed that if I make changes to the Image inside the Raw to the dynamic object camera after clicking Open Smart Objects I see the changes inside the Photoshop too.

But if I make the changes to the Image inside the Photoshop, and later I Double click on the Image, the Image opens inside the Camera Raw, without modification.

Here's my question: still The Smart object Image is a Raw Image?

    My next question is:

I don't know if I open a Raw Image Inside the Camera Raw and if I click on fact, the image is always a Raw Image, which is good, and if I click on Reset low, will reset back. If I change only the White Balance and click on go back the Camera Raw and I chose as shot, the Image goes back to the Original Raw file.

But if I do other changes such as exposure, any color change and click on I did can never return to the original...

Last month I was in collaboration with the Lightroom and I noticed if I open a raw image inside the Lightroom and modifications to make the Image, any time I can click on reset and the Raw image dates back to its origin.

I don't think that we can do this with Camera Raw can us?

Claire removes the settings in camera raw completely. You will not see the setting on the thumbnail icon in Bridge

By default Camera Raw will display the icon and double click on the thumbnail will always open in Camera Raw with the default settings.  The default value is "As Shot", that's why you see no difference. It is when you select a default Custom you want. He will stay with the Camera Raw file.

See this article by Julienne Kost.

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/jkost/2009/10/setting_new_camera_raw_default.html

Another difference is with JPEGs. Open a JPEG in ACR, making an adjustment, click 'done '.  Select 'Default Camera Raw' and it will always open in ACR instead of Photoshop.  Select 'Clear' and it's a normal jpeg which is still open in Photoshop.

Basically it's all I know, I normally don't use ACR much.

  • The PSB (textures 3D and Smart Objects) are stored in the PSD file?

The subject line is the main issue. But I have a few other questions: the PSB files are stored (in the Windows operating system) in the folder Temp of the user. Why? My Temp folder has a dozen PSB files with various dates. Is there a reason that they do not disappear when a PSD file is saved? Remains of the PS crashes?

Same questions for Smart Object PSB files.

    Thank you

Yes, a smart object is a container for a file embedded as a PSB (large Document of Photoshop), EPS, PSD, TIFF, PDF, etc.

Material 3D textures are incorporated in a document by using the mechanism of the SO.

    Sengstack wrote:

When you choose to edit a written Photoshop, SO the ER is incorporated into a temporary file and opens in a new window.

My Temp folder has a dozen PSB files with various dates. Is there a reason that they do not disappear when a PSD file is saved? Remains of the PS crashes?

Photoshop will normally remove the temporary file when the master document (the one containing the SO) is closed. If you wish, you can watch the creation and deletion of these files. An accident before closing the document master is expected to be the only reason that there is a PSB wandering in Temp.

  • How to change a smart object

I don't know how I go on this point, but I had the text in Word and pasted in a gray background in PS CC. Now, I have a smart object. Look great, but I forgot to add a period. I did some research on google, and he says to choose layer, change the dynamic object (or double-click on the thumb).

But then, he brings the text in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (is part of the suite CC?), never seen before.

I can select some text there, but the keyboard does not work to remove or add anything. I'm stuck. Thank you.

It would be more simple paste the text again. You cannot change the text in Acrobat Reader

Copy the text from the Word document. Create a new text layer in Photoshop by clicking anywhere on the document with the text tool.

    Then stick.

The text should now be editable on a new layer. This layer is not a smart object, but you can make it if you want by layer > smart objects > convert to smart object.

  • What is the best way to manipulate the shape of a layer to smart object in Photoshop?

I have a smart object in photoshop which is a rectangle, and I want to deform slightly so it looks it was filed on the ground (basically, I need to change the position of the corners to make it look in perspective).

If I did that to an object in Illustrator I was going to just use the direct Selection tool and drag the anchor points in the corners of the rectangle. I know there is a direct selection tool in Photoshop, but my smart object doesn't seem to have all the anchor points on it to manipulate (v. new Photoshop user, sorry).

I know you can use a mesh of string objects, but as this is just a simple rectangle I was hoping that it would be a less complicated way? That it's just the positioning of the corners that must fit.

    Thanks for the tips!

    Alanna salvation,

You can use Edition > free transform or Ctry/Cmd-T, to reshap the smart object.

  • No linked smart objects are loaded in the RAM of the Scratch disk or storage?

Building a computer and I need to know where to invest.

If a graphic artist made use of the dynamic in a file objects, and then when they "open" one of these smart objects, will be that load into memory (assuming that it has enough memory allocated), the disk scratch or - given that the dynamic object is 'stored' in the original file - the file work constantly read and writing directly from the drive the main file is saved to?

I'm certainly not an expert but I understand that Photoshop has always the image in RAM to be able to work on it. (SO or something else)  If this RAM is not enough then Photoshop uses the drive working to "expand" the RAM. But even if it is enough will always be used the drive working. That's why most people use SSDS for zero and regular hard drives for storage.

Remember that Photoshop is not the only one who is eating your memory. The operating system and a myriad of other programs and background processes all want their share...

  • Change of image when converting to smart object

Well, that's a new one on me.

I have a simple image with a layer and layers of setting three on top.

Mixer - with blue layer refused to 0%

    Posterize - 3 levels

Black and white - no changes to the default values

It gives me a black and white posterized picture-as I expect. All blending modes are normal and without layer effects are applied and there is no other layers on.

However, when I change to a dynamic object - level poster borders move (see example cut the corner of the picture below)

If I open the smart object - everything is as before, if I close (save the object) and discovers the smart object in the main image, change the posterization.

I work in 16-bit and image and the dynamic object are in Adobe RGB. I get the same effect with the GPU acceleration on or off

I am at a loss to explain why I see a change while creating a dynamic object.

Just to be sure: to view > actual Pixels?

  • How to save a smart object without a background?

I wanted to change my smart object but it won't save without giving me a background... What am I doing wrong?

As I said in my first answer is that you must use Save as and save it as a buffer or psb. You need to replace your happy smart object with the new saved file. No quick way to do it.
