Linksys connect to Vista

I have a router from linksys e2500 and cannot connect wireless laptop to my daughter.  It is running Vista Home and the router connects but onlay have local access.  I have two other laptops, running Windows 7, who have no problem connecting.

Hello

1. the computer windows vista laptop sees the wireless network?
2. can you ping the portable Windows 7 by the name and IP?

Step 1: update the firmware of the router. You will need to contact the router manufacturer to update the firmware of the router.

Step 2:
1. Click Start, type cmd.
2. right click on command prompt in the search results, and select run as administrator.
Then check if the DHCP computer is the same on Vista computer as on the Windows 7 laptops.

The computer Vista laptop gets a good IP address and not an Apipa address. (169.254.x.x)

Step 3: If you use an anti-virus such as Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro, you want to ensure that the file and printer sharing is enabled on their firewall.

Step 4: Check the name of working group on ALL computers is the SAME. In Windows Vista, the default workgroup name is "WORKGROUP". They must be of the same name.

Step 5: on the computer running Vista: go to the control panel in Vista network and sharing:

1. Discovery Network: WE (if you can see other computers)
2 network set to private (Public is to the hotspots WiFi, airports, etc.)
3 file Sharing: WE
4 public folder sharing: WE (in Windows Vista, the Public folder is the same as Windows XP Shared Docs)
5. protected password: OFF (unless you want to configure identical user names and passwords on all computers on your network)
If you have it ON, you will be asked a user name and password when you try to access a Vista computer on a Windows 7 computer unless you have the same user name and accounts on all computers.

Now check if Vista can join the wireless network.

    Hello Neelie

Without much explanation here, in my opinion, you can try to resolve this problem if you remove the package of added value of the system (Control Panel > programs and features), restart your computer and install the latest version available on the Toshiba support page.

You can find it under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

    Hello!

I have the internet connection for PPPOE. It works fine, but I want to autoconnect when I start my PC.
I tried to create a network connections shortcut and copy it to all the programs/startup.
    It did not work.

OK, try this. Open the Control Panel and select Internet Options > connections . Make sure your PPPoE connection is highlighted and always set the default connection is checked. This assumes that your PPPoE connection is your default value.

  • Unable to connect to Vista Home Premium DMA2200

I recently had the need to re - install my HTPC (Vista Home Premium). When I went to set up my DMA2200, it gets to the point in VMC, where there a checkbox in 'Setting media locations', and he is reportedly trying to connect to the DMA2200 ("connecting to Extender").

At this point, it takes much more long as it should and VMC possibly errors with the message "Extender didn't connect." On the DMA2200, I see "Login failed."

Looking at the Log on the HTPC case, I see five entries in the Media Center newspaper during the time that I was trying to match my DMA2200 + HTPC (oldest to newest):

    1. HTPC beginning of the installation of Windows Media Center Extender with the following options: Firewall (0,0,1,1) Power management (0) media settings (1)
    2. The installer of Windows Media Center Extender configured successfully, the Windows Media Center PC for use with an Extender.

    3. Windows Media Center Extender DMA2200us (sditz5ep3yi0) 'uuid:689C2DE0-4282-48BA-BF44-9C56E2176767' found at the address 192.168.1.135.

    4. Windows Media Center Extender Setup has exchanged certificates with device 'uuid:689C2DE0-4282-48BA-BF44-9C56E2176767'.

    5. Windows Media Center Extender account Mcx1 was created for device 'uuid:689C2DE0-4282-48BA-BF44-9C56E2176767'.

As far as I know, everything looks great. In addition, I am able to desktop remotely for my HTPC and ping my DMA2200. I have not either a complicated network. Just my HTPC, a Linksys router base with the default configuration and the DMA2200. I have the firewall running on my HTPC, but I allowed the Extender pass. I also tried to stop the firewall, but it did not help. I reinstalled Vista and reset the DMA2200 to default settings. Same question.

The only thing at this point that I can think of who can help is when I got my DMA2200, I remember that it came with an installation disk (someone check?) and I used it. I am no longer able to find such a disc, nor I see any kind of tools package available for download.

Does anyone have any ideas where I should go next? I'm almost ready to return this as a defective unit.

This eventually be due to a change in registry/dll to enable RDP on Home Premium. I forgot it was on an image I found a new installation. After having finally dig my Vista disk and reinstall the old fashioned way w / nothing else Vista & drivers, the problem has been resolved and has not recurred.

  • Configure the router linksys on windows vista

Recently I bought a linksys wireless router and have problems when configuring it on windows vista home.

I have read many articles that while configuration that I need to connect the DSL modem (DSL in my case) to the router (WAN port) and also a thread more (that came with the router) to the laptop. If I connect my laptop with router then how is the wireless network or if it is required to do the installation?
Do I need a PC/laptop always connected with wireless router and then only I can take advantage of being wireless (I hope not)? When can I disconnect the cable between the router and the laptop and use internet as well?

The reason for asking this question, is that my laptop LAN port is not functional. If I use any other laptop for the initial setup and then use my laptop to connect to the router if it works without using b & w computer laptop and router connection?
