Linksys WRE54G Range Expander

I have set up with linksys E4200, but it does not connect to my computer, the blue light showing but the link light will market

Well well its compatibility problem... Because the router that you have a router Wireless N technology and the amplifier you are trying to install is wireless G technology... So it won't go to work... However, you can get a with N-technology wireless range Expander that works with your router and the model number for the same is RE1000.

  • Will be wireless G range expander router work with WRT160N wireless

I have a WRT160N wirelesss router set up in my house.  I recently moved the router into the garage for a cable internet and VoIP phone installation.  Now my wireless printer in my basement that allows to print properly is to get an unacceptable signal. Probably due to a density of wall in concrete or something that does not ask before.  I want to install an Expander store but I have WPA2 security enabled on all my wireless devices.  The amplifier Wireless G does not mention if it can use the WPA2 security.  Only WEP.

I have to downgrade my router security to WEP to use the Extender to put away or will it be compatible with my current security?  Information about the product and FAQ does not cover this subject.

    Thanks for any help.

You can use WRE54G with router WRt160N... However, WRE54G Range Expander don't support WEP and WPA WPA2.

  • East - what to expect two WRE54G range extensions I have installed?

I bought a WRE54G Range Extender for home use with a router WRT54G home. My laptop and iPhone had low signal strength in the room at the other end of the House of the router. I put everything in place, it seemed to work ok, so I bought another to do the same thing at work.

Now that I've had a couple of weeks, trying to use the bar end of range with several iPhone and several laptops, including 3 hours on the phone with Linksys support (level 2) yesterday, I'm disappointed by my results. I have the same problem on two systems on both devices, configured to the Linksys and the routers wireless of Fortinet. Here's what I mean.

If I start a laptop or an iPhone to range of the router, I join the network very well. So if I wear the device closer to the Range Extender, the signal becomes stronger after a minute or two, and my problem is solved. But then the device loses the signal from the network at the end of 3 to 10 minutes, she resumed, but now I do not get an IP address, so I can't do anything. The only way to get back on the network must carry the device to the router, reconnect, and then carry the rear of the unit until close to the Range Extender. Home Range Extender is now about 25 feet from the router. At the office, it is about 70 feet away.

On one of my laptops at home, if the laptop is connected via wi - fi with the average signal strength, when I turn on the range extender, after a few seconds the laptop stands wi - fi altogether. Then it shows that it is connected but doesn't 0.0.0.0 for the IP 169.x.x.x. usually the only way to get this laptop at work is to turn off the Range Extender.

On my iPhone, I have a wireless diagnostic application. From there, I can see all the wi - fi signals, a couple of weak force those neighbors. I have my network on a channel not used. The router and the range extender are defined with the same string, security settings. They both come with the same name.

I would be able to connect to the Range Extender instead of having to connect to the router first, and then switch to the Range Extender? Is it normal to keep losing signal every 3-10 minutes? I've never had any of this wrong with the router, only with the Range Extender.

Maybe that I need another device and the Range Extender is not supposed to do what I'm trying to do. Someone at - he had experiences or ideas to share?

As a last step, I have updated the drivers for the card wireless on my laptop. Now everything works fine.

  • WRT54GL router and WRE54G Range Extender

    Hi all

Can anyone shed some light on the link between a range extender wireless (WRE54G) with a router (WRT54GL): -.

1.) is it compatible with each other?

(2.) what distance will be extended the range? Currently the router itself has a range of about 10 to 15 meters

If you would use the WRE54G, otherwise, how could I extend the range?

    Thank you

  • WAP610N like Wireless Range Expander

I have a WAP610N I would use as an extension of range on an existing wireless network.  I want to be able to move seamlessly around the House and the yard, using my router and WAP without getting disonnected.  The WAP610N can be configured to operate in this way?  Any special about parameters?

    THX!

the basic parameters of the wireless router wireless must match the settings on the AP basic wireless.

  • Linksys E4200 - range WUSB600N V2 / signal issues

    Router Linksys E4200 dualband and Win7 64 bit Linksys WUSB600N v2.
Both in the same room, the distance is about 10 meters.
I compare the results on 5 GHz btw the stick of Linksys and btw another laptop with Intel Advanced-N 6200 AGN wifi chip.
Running a wifi 5 GHz N on the stick of Linksys, leading to the signal strength low and reduced its speed.
Practically, I can't improve the signal than the Intel + 15 to 20 dB...

    Negligible:

    distance / Intel / Linksys:
    <1 m ="" -26db="">

    5 m /-50 dB /-65dB

While Intel radio affects 300 MB/s, the Linksys is somewhere around 200 MB/s only. in the same room
Anyone else knows a bad signal with the WUSB600N v2, as well? I bought the stick to stream HD media, but with - 65dB is not much of an improvement to what I had on 2. 4 Ghz, 802.11 g (())

Sorry, but how is this releated response must keep the problem I described?
disable the firewall on the router spi?
I checked the possibility of automatic channel selection and channel 20-40 establishments width (automatic channel selection does NOT work correctly from either). I still have the experience that the stick has lower than intel one signal. regardless of the setting of the router firewall

  • WRT310Nv2 I need to add a point of access that are compatible?

I have a very weak signal, where my PC is against my wireless router, so I want to add as a Repeater access point, but I can't find a compatible list. I ran into a problem, try to add a Repeater or AP to a previous linksys wireless router and it would talk only with the exact same router, so I want to check before you buy something.

    Thank you!

You can go with WRE54G Range Expander or WAP200E, repeating the signal router WRT310N Wireless Access Point.

  • in WRT54GC 5dBi antenna - how to tie

    Hi all

I recently bought a 5dBi antenna for my WRT54GC router. However, I don't check if the router's original antenna is detachable and unfortunately is not. Does anyone know if there is another way to attach the new antenna or if I'm missing something.

    Thanks in advance.

Instead of use the antenna I suggest you use WRE54G range expander. This will help to expand the wireless router.

  • Upper range router need

    A week ago I bought Linksys WRT120N

My House has three floors or flooor unit is located in the Middle floor, the perfect working unit on the ground, that it is installed and on the top floor it will only work in a room and there is no signal to reach another rooom 1st and 3rd floor...

Please advise me the device model linksys that has expanded the range of the signal... to cover all 3 Banglow flooors...

You can define WAP4410N as a wireless Repeater, so your WAP will receive a signal wirelessly between your router and transmit signals wirelessly to your wireless computers and they all will be able to go online.

  • Computer "is" more low-signal router instead of range extender

I've seen a few similar posts; but nothing seems exactly like my problem; or I missed it.

I have a router WRT54G and WRE54G range extender; seem to be working well and talk to each other.  (Took a while, but I got it; and it has been fine since.)   I connected to the signal stronger WRE fast when Internet and slow Internet when WRT connected to the lower signal (which is further) - just like one would expect.

The problem: my computer (only place Office) will be unrelated to the stronger signal "Range Extender".  I'll work some time or leave and come back - and the link will be back signal Extender, fast router signal slow, lower.  I can click on my profile; Connect and sometimes come back on the most powerful signal.  (If not, try again and again until it crashes into the most powerful signal.)  [Even with "site survey" - I select Connect to the stronger signal, but it seems to connect randomly either.]

    - & - Another post, I think I could do something with the MAC addresses - for example, block my USB MAC of the router wireless receiver, so he 'only' to connect to the Extender.  (Better yet, I can say my network connection to connect only to the MAC of the extender?)

    Operating system is - 2000

Here's something I put in place earlier - for the most part just repeats above:

    Equipment:

LinkSys wireless router; WRT54G; 6 worm.  Firmware 1.00.7 (now 1.02.7)

LinkSys Range Extenders;  WRE54G; Firmware Ver 3 3.01.01 (now 3.04.01.)

USB LinkSys network adapter: WUSB54G Ver 4

-WHY it keep coming back to the lowest signal from router?  (The big question).

-Why, when I do a site survey, select the strongest signal and select Connect, enter the WEP code, he still occasionally connect back right at the lowest signal from router, even if I've highlighted the stronger signal Repeater when I hit the Connect button?

-If I create profiles with the most powerful signal, it is always the same (that is, sometimes it connects the signal the most powerful signal "Extender" and sometimes the Repeater weaker signal, except that I do not need to enter the WEP code if I connect to the profile instead of the signal of view survey.)

-According to information online, I found that the router must be on 'Firmware version 2.02.2' to be compatible WRE;   But - if I check for the latest version of the firmware for WRT54G version 6, it is 1.02.7 - does that mean the Extender is incompatible with my router?

-Are there a way to "force" the wireless network connection to bind to a specific MAC address - so I can restrict to a stronger signal of the Extender?

Scrooge, thanks for the suggestions.    Earlier, I tried the following solution, based on a similar condition a few - this on another post:

Solution: Configure the router MAC filtering does not to allow connections to the MAC address of the wireless USB network card.

Since I tried this a few days ago I was followed and it worked.  So, before he would keep switching to the smaller Repeater link.  In saying the Repeater from the heat to let the link not only the Extender to post a link and it is now to stay connected to the Extender and the speed remains constant.

  • WRE54G V3 - Web: gateway no response

I configured my WRE54G, following the instructions and moved in my living room and confirmed that the link linght has turned blue.  Since my iPhone wif' are and my Nokia N97, we now see a signal of 100%, up from 45 percent before installing the expander control.

However, every time we try to connect to the internet using a phone, we our using Wii or PS3 wireless gat error messages various mainlyWeb: front door unanswered.

My router is a router Dlink ADLS2 + (DSL-G624M), the SSID is hidden, secrurity is set to WPA TKIP.  I havesouble checked on the WRE54G the IP of my router (192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0) is defined as the door, the SSID is my existing network, the channel corresponds to my existing network.

Any ideas what I should do to get this work, or access of all newspapers etc. to determine exactly what is the issue?

You must make sure that the default IP of your Range Expander is 192.168.1.240, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.1.1 (Router)...

Also, you should do a full power cycle-

Unplug the power cable from the amplifier, wait 30 seconds, unplug the power cable from the router, wait 30 seconds, connect the power cable to your amplifier, wait 30 seconds and connect the power cable to your router...

If this does not work, you need to change the Security Wireless WEP on both devices and then perform the power cycle... It should work... If you want to use WPA-TKIP you must ensure your amplifier and your router are updated to their latest firmware...

  • WRE54G amplifier does not not with WRT610N router

I'm trying to configue my amplifier wre54g to work with my new wrt610n.  I have configured the router to perform both G and N signals.  I have connected my expander directly into a laptop and and manually configured the expander control with the settings needed to connect to the router.  When I press "save settings" on the main screen, my browser reports a "your changes have been saved...". Reset. • Is the WRE54G compatable with the WAG54GS?

Hello my client has a WAG54GS router and I just bought a WRE54G range extension to help its wireless network coverage. But I have since views information here and there on the possibility that these two devices are incompatible with each other.

    Could someone please confirm?

    Thank you very much

v.much thank you for taking the time to answer

It turns out that I got them to work together easily... updated the WAG54GS firmware to v1.01.03 then connected the WRE54G via ethernet to the WAG54GS and ran the WRE54G installation CD. Then I made the WRE54G has been placed in an appropriate place to receive the signal of the WAG54GS. Job done.

  • wrt54G and wre54G speed

I connected these 2 together and both work well.  I use my laptop out in my trailer parked in the driveway and the router is inside the House.  Before you get the expander control, maybe I was getting (sometimes) 1 bar, 2 on the laptop and was very sensitive to the where I was in the trailer.  I tried several places between the House and the trailer with limited success and now have the expander control in the trailer near a window.  I now get 5 bars on the laptop and it works better, but still a bit slow.  The two blue lights on the expander control are stable.

Total distance maybe 30 trailer have so many House sideing aluminum, but the two units are located by windows.  I searched for this issue, but there is no any definitive true (that I found)

Is the (strength) speed of connection I get the speed for the router on the laptop or expander control and y at - it a way to measure the strength (speed) of connection between router/Expander?  Works the extensor is at full speed or not at all (connect or no connection) or it will connect at different speeds depending on the location/obstacles?

    Thank you

The main system of your network wireless is your router, which is responsible for distributing the signal with good resistance.

Range Expander is a device that just extend the reach of the signal from the Router. In another word if the signal from the router bit is low so there is noway willl get you good signal Range Expander as there is no DHCP on the amplifier... It is therefore very necessary that your router is to distribute the signal with good strength so that he can properly communicate with other systems (such as Range Expander) wireless...

Speed signal you get on the laptop's high-end Expander.Range Expander works at full speed, but he eats half the speed of the router.

Yes the Signal strength depends on the position of the device and the obstacles...

  • wag200eu and 3 wre54g

    Hello forum,.

Yesterday, I set up my Wag200eu of Access Point with an SSID - home, Channel 6, key WPA-TKIP. I also bought an amplifier 3 wre54g ver. 3. I have 1 facility in the first floor of the second amplifier in the second floor and the third in the third floor. I also installed the same SSID - Television - and wireless key and I changed the ip address of each repetition. For example access point has 192.168.1.2 - first floor 192.168.1.3 - second floor 192.168.1.4... etc. I checked that the Repeater located in the third floor is connected with the repetition of the second floor, the second Repeater floor on the first floor and... everything works very well for 3 hours. Then for some reason that I lose connection on each floor, and when I ping access point does not respond until I turned off and then I turn on the power cable. I did also last updated firmware to the latest version 3.04.01. but nothing

    Do you have any idea?

    Thanks in advance

So the problem solved when I changed the security of my wireless WEP Access Point WAP200 and 6 extensions WRE54G range. Now works fine without problems.
