  You can not have brushes or traits of variable width within a live paint group.

  Hi all

  I tried to fill this paint group direct (and others) with a gradient, but the gradient does not fill the entire form. It seems that the location of the gradient is confused so that it only fills in the center of the shape. I have attached a screenshot below as an example.

  I suggest you expand the live paint group and then selecting forms by using "select the appearance even." You can then easily move them to their own layers.

  I'm having a problem with the live paint groups that I can't understand, or find a workaround for.

  I create all my lineart for the illustrations in Adobe Illustrator. I use the tool pen in combination with the line tool width to create the thickness of line. Once I finished all the work of the line, I select all and Expand. This translates not have refills for the areas of illustration that need to be colored.

  From there, what I do is select all > livepaint > make. I then fill in each area in a base color, using the Live Paint Bucket tool. Once finished, I have to select new all > expand. This leaves me fillings that I can choose indivually to apply gradients and work directly with.

  This process works fine until I have develop the live paint group. After developing, there is a thin white border around that meet two distinct colors. This occurs only after having developed, this does not happen when it is still a live paint group. I tried all the options in the window to develop and achieve the same result. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

  I exported the work done in several formats (eps, .jpg, .png) and the lines are still there.

  I've included a picture to show the problem. (the Red arrows point to the issue of borders)

  Turn anti-aliasing off the coast in the preferences. If the line is still there: you have a problem.

  1 duplicate the lineart and place it below the layer and lock the original

  2 convert the lineart in a contour line by going to effect > contour line, then object > decaying appearance

  3 open the Pathfinder palette, and then select all and unit/Add it.

  4. all change no line and no fill

  5. Select all and then convert it in live paint

  6 deselect the converted path and start using the live paint bucket.

  7. after that expand and separate so you can pass the path to fill. you will also notice that it will remove all the path you have been converted.

• The missing in Illustrator CS5 live paint bucket tool

  The Live Paint Bucket tool does not appear in the Toolbox of Illustrator CS5. I looked at other threads which suggest to delete the file "Adobe Illustrator CS5 préférences". I did and it has no effect. There is no empty space in the palette where the button should be, she is just completely missing, as it was never installed (either its hidden somewhere I'm fairly new to Illustrator).   I just downloaded the demo version of Illustrator CS4 for Mac. For a class project. I'm my no teachers to the letter, but I can't. I guess change of letter, it is size and angle duplicaate then it and resize and variation of the angle of the second. Then select direct painting and paint more polished sections of letters. The problem is that when I select both letters and go to live paint it won't let me choose ' do ' so I can't paint. And I can't use the fill bucket, it says "the selection contains objects that cannot be converted." Anyone know why it does this and just so that you know that I'm a COMPLETE newbie to this is my first time using this program.

  Looks like you are trying to make a group of LivePaint live text objects. You can't do that. As the alert, you can use paths.

  You can convert the text into paths objects by selecting the Type > vectorize.

  Many things come to mind: using filters. warping selections, getting a different gradient for each letter, without creating separately, masking, etc..
