LiveCycle on IBM System Z Linux

Hi all

I am currently on a customer who wants to install LiveCycle on a mainframe IBM running Z/OS (not AIX). From what I understand, Z/OS has a built-in Linux component called IFL (built-in for Linux), which is apparently based on SUSE, but I'm not an expert in this area.

A that someone does something similar to this before? If so, were the positive results?

See you soon

Greg

Will not work.

LiveCycle has some components non - Java C++.  By their very nature, these must be compiled for the mainframe CPU architecture.  They are not.  LiveCycle is supported on SUSE Linux, but only on the Intel/AMD x 86 and x 64 processor architecture.  LiveCycle on SUSE Linux on IBM POWER architecture running AIX 5.3 L (L is synonymous with support for Linux), does not either, for the same reason.

  • Install the IFEN SYSTEM on Linux

    Hello

For the test I want to install a server of RDB database on a desktop Linux, is this possible?

    Thank you.

    Search for BLOB to http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/rdb/pdf/sql_ref_v72_part1.pdf

In a list, you can store unstructured data such as large amounts of text,
long strings of binary input from a data collecting device, or graphics data.
Any data type can be stored and retrieved from a list. The data is stored in
unstructured bytes. For example, you can store character data in a list and
then interpret it as hexadecimal data. Except for the length of the segments,
Oracle Rdb does not know anything about the type of data contained in a list.
There is no limit on the number of segments within a list.
Each segment stored on a page is referenced by the line index structure, which
uses a word offset and a word length. The page structure imposes a segment
size limit of 65,535 unsigned bytes.

I wouldn't do anything with rdb unless you have access to a person with experience.

  • Oracle on Linux for IBM Power systems

I have 2 questions about running Oracle on Linux (RHEL) OS on Power systems similar-P8.

    1. Why IBM power based Linux is not listed in v$ transportable_platform where we check for platform endian format? Is it because it is not supported?

2 .   Oracle is 12.1.0.2 or any other version of Oracle DB is certified on RHEL on IBM power?

    Thank you

    Aerts

According to Oracle Database 12 c Release 1 (12.1.0.2.0) for IBM AIX on POWER Systems, it is only supported for AIX. PowerPC is a different endian Intel format.

  • Must we give up Linux because of the asynchronous IO?

    Versions of RDBMS: 10.2.0.5, 11.2.0.3
    Current platform: AIX 6

To reduce costs, we intend to spend half of our DB of AIX servers to Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 (UEK) and rest to Solaris 11. Already in negotiation with Oracle on pricing.

One of our managers (a big fan of IBM) complains that Linux is bad in asynchronous i/o. He asked us to google just Linux and AIO. Things like the following came.

    http://bouliiii.blogspot.com/2011/10/disk-asynchronous-IO-mess-on-Linux-and.html

Basically, that's what I understand about asynchronous i/o. A process may issue several requests of writing for the Linux/Unix kernel and continue to do other things, and in the meantime, the kernel will perform all your queries IO in the disks and inform you that all your applications have been made. It is parallel processing with respect to the i/o. Am I right?

I wonder what Mr. StallMan and Mr. Torvalds think about these allegations?

BTW. Any idea what is the meaning of the term "Sub" in IO subsystem? What is so "Sub" to this topic?

Oracle database machine broke many records of database performance. There are very few other RDBMS suppliers who compare the scalability and performance of ito.

Machine database Oracle Exadata (nodes of storage server), run the Linux command. No AIX.

They also use Infiniband. No Gigabyte Ethernet.

Tangible evidence of what real h/w uses in the real world to deal with the actual data - very fast and very scalable.

Evidence that the 'management' and 'architecture' fail to see and understand.

My largest database (12 node RAC) addresses on a raw lines 100 billion per month - about 40 000 inserts/s, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. It does this by using Linux as an operating system.

Only a fool of first class will question the ability of Linux as an operating system for the RDBMS to Oracle and Oracle RAC. Feel free to send this word for Word to your manager "IBM/AIX...

  • Satellite U200 163 and Linux - sound disappeared

    Hi all

I just installed ubuntu 9.04 on my u200, it worked very well with the live CD with almost any linux, but the sound no longer works after a while
I think the problem is with the bios or could be fixed with windows settings
Unfortunately, I deleted windows so now I have to find another solution
I am sure that this is not a software problem, but more tied to the bios or strange sound equipment.

    Thanks in advance
    Stone

    Hi pierrot2027,

of course, it is the bios... It is evolving without interaction...
    I'm kidding!

which leads to believe that the bios is defective when:
-its has been authorized for a period of time
-you do not change anything inside the bios or hardware

try to modprobe a new soundmodule, perhaps some stock loading a bad module...
    or reinstall the system...

BTW: windows is an operating system like linux - if it's a hardware failure, you are not able to fix in any os at all.

  • Can install ANY Linux on x120e

Hello, I bought ThinkPad x120e, and my primary operating system is Linux. Now, I have used Linux for 10 years now, and I have not through such a problem until now, even if other people say that they installed Linux on the thing with success.
I tried to boot ArchLinux from the flash drive USB, passes GRUB, but starts then stops at the message "kernel startup".

I tried 15 Fedora and Ubuntu 11.10, the same thing. That once Ubuntu has successfully started (I don't know how it happened, by chance I guess), and it worked perfectly.

I am very disappointed by this

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

I found the problem. When I make a change in the BIOS and then select 'Save and Exit BIOS', the laptop will not start hard, but will be the attempt to load the operating system. In the case of Linux, the kernel will not start. When I turn off and turn on the laptop, Linux starts as usual. Is there anyone with x120e, who can confirm this? Is there any where that I can report this bug for Lenovo? Thank you.

You should contact HP sales and support they have some portable Linux and that they would be more useful to see if it meets these needs.
