  I have confirmed that SSH is enabled on an esxi host 3-3.5, but I'm getting connection refused when attempting to connect using WinSCP or PuTTY. I'm on the same internal network and there is no firewall between the two.   Checked if my computer can talk to esxi host on port 80, 443, 902. all ports are accessible.

  Disabled the Symantec endpoint protection and checked. no positive results.

  Finally, I tried the ESXi web navigation browser host http://ESXi-IP-address which redirects me to HTTPS connection with Certificate error, when I continue with the cert error, loading of the URL guard and the host page doesn't appear as it should.

  This questions are on both hosts. :-(

  Finally things started working now.

  The problem was with the configuration of the workstation's NETWORK adapter.

  The link on the NETWORK adapter speed was set to Auto negotiate (default), but the speed was detected as 100 Mbps instead of 1 Gbps and MTU has been set at 9014 which I defined manually long back.

  Things use to operate in this configuration that I have configured hosts with MTU 9000 and cisco SMB switch default Jumbo.

  the LinkSpeed of 100 Mbps is bugging me, after changing to 1 Gbps (manual setting) the card NETWORK has deactivated, and it reminded me to switch!

  So I put the LinkSpeed Auto negotiation, MTU 9014, stop the two hosts, restart the switch. restarted my computer.

  Since it uses for things were in a normal state.

  Even the question of the console (black screen) disappeared. :-)

I want to install ESXi on this computer, and then run VSphere via localhost to manage computers from the VM on the same host.   You can certainly run a Windows VM on the ESXi host, but you will still need another system to access. ESXi itself does not provide a graphical interface, and I'm not aware of any 3rd third-party tool that adds this feature either.

• I/o control of storage - "connected to one or more hosts pre-4.1 version...".  No, I'm not.

  Subject says it all.  When I click on the control of i/o Storage box, I get the message '< name of the data store > data store is connected to one or more hosts pre-version 4.1 that do not control of storage i/o support.  This is false.  There are only two servers connected, and they are the two 5.0 with the latest patch.  What gives?

  Apparently, it's a matter of having the correct license on you host.

  One company more SIOC support so if any host without it is connected to the data store, you will get the error.

  After thinking that out, it was to allow only on data warehouses that are connected to the Ent host exclusevly + and it worked without any errors.

  The one with my installation/ISO-files must have this option disabled because it is shared with the hosts having licences below.

  Of course, I pulled my hair on the error and started watching the bad VMs now outdated information for VirtualCenter until I found this blog:

  Hello, I have an existing the vcenter server install managing two esx 3.5 hosts. The vcenter is version 2.5.0.x. I want to manage my new hosts of vsphere 4.1 esxi through the vcenter. I would check that if I improve my vcenter 2.5.0 for the last version vcenter Server required for the 4.1 that I will be able to manage my old esx 3.5 hosts?   You can mange ESX 3.x host with vCenter 4.x - you can't manage ESX 4.x, vCenter 2.x hosts

  I think that in a place of upgrade will keep the license server - otherwise you will need to reinstall the server-licensing

  I recently ran a question with the DSC alarm event & logging. I have a number of all shared variables libraries set up to record data and alarms at the Citadel. I double checked that the library itself is configured for data recording and alarms, as well as all the variables. Using the DSM, I can see all alarms active in the system across all libraries and can receive all the alarm by program change events.

  For some reason, alarms to one of the libraries are logging, and attempt to query the historical events & alarms via MAX raise an error at about 14 of 15 times (with no code error or indication of why it fails). I have also tried to check the database of the Citadel, with it fails with an error unspecified (presumably during archiving on the side of things alarms, archive data seems to work).

  Can anyone offer an overview on how to solve the problem, preferably without data loss? In addition, how can I avoid this problem in the future?

  Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the llb related, but it could not remove existing data. That said, I managed to resolve the issue.

  Removal of the database of alarms (not only the alarms), did the trick. My approach was:

  1. stop all libraries through DSM

  2. create the new base of Citadel by MAX

  3. use DSC Archive Traces VI to check in the footsteps of the database active for the newly created database

  4. remove the active database

  5 detach the new database

  6. move the new database on disk for the location of the old database

  7. set the new database with the same name as the old database

  8. start all libraries

  At this point all the alarms started logging in correctly and I can query the alarms without problem. The system is on a UPS now, so I hope that any future power failure does not affect the things.
