  • I don't want to use the screen lock on Windows 8. American holidays on the calendar,

    Hello

Anyone know if it is possible to disable the locking of Windows 8 screen function. I don't want or to do it and it's annoying to have to connect to my own computer at home whenever I want to use. I spent some time trying to sort out, but couldn't find anything.

also, I'm English American not and do not even live in the UK (or US) and I can't find how to set local or UK public holidays on the calendar. is it possible.

Finally, more techno-creepiness, not Google this time or even Avast (know of I am English). just looked at my lock screen this morning and it is the display name of my wife somehow I never would have recorded it over his birthday, how are Windows knows we have a relationship and what stupid System Designer thought that I would see his birthday notification without personally record me the event on the calendar. I hope that techno-creepiness will not worsen in the future.

in any case if someone has sensible answers to my two questions, thanks in advance.

    Hi Douglas,.

Lock screen displays events that are added to your calendar.

See this link to change the way the notifications appear on the lock screen, so that it will not display unnecessary events.

If you want to disable the lock screen, see this link.

To set the UK holidays in your calendar, please connect to your Hotmail account using Internet Explorer and change the country/region settings to UK.

  • Myself locked out Windows (by accident, oops!)

So, I wanted to set up a dual-boot between Windows 8.1 (update 1) and Ubuntu for Android development on my Acer Aspire V5-571P-6429, rather than using a Virtual Machine and have to share resources. I went to change my settings for UEFI and changed for Legacy UEFI BIOS to disable startup secure, then apply changes and away I went. Or so I thought. I got the PCIE splash screen and if I cancel it, or if it fails (which always happens), he continues to say the operating system is not found. I've seen different solutions, such as here:

    http://community.Acer.com/T5/notebooks-netbooks/aspire-V5-571-quot-operating-system-not-found-quot/m...

.. .that mention to press F2 at the STATION. I tried which, like all the other keys F on my keyboard. I even plugged a second keyboard to make sure it was not defective or something and none of it works. I'm basically locked in the BIOS and Windows 8.1. I'm running on an Ubuntu Live CD (I can access all my readers, including files on my internal drive, so he didn't there absolutely no problems with the drive or disc hard themselves), so I'm not completely in the dark, although I'd really like to have access to Windows 8.1. I have a USB key with an 8.1 on this installer, but I would really like to make sure that I can reset my BIOS first before having to start Ubuntu, once more and save all my files (which I wouldn't do, because I don't really feel like immediately wipe). 8.1 installer doesn't have an option to let me access the UEFI settings, either. All I have is a command prompt.

Is there anyway I can force me access my BIOS/UEFI (don't know what the right term to use is here) and return this change? Even if I can just reinstall the BIOS to reset to the default values, or some kind of loophole bit I can use (like a kind of miracle Live CD), nothing to keep me from wiping and reinstalling would be the best.

Oh and needless to say I probably won't touch this setting never after this correction. I'll probably find a few other laptop to install Ubuntu on as griddle not this one.

So I decided to look into the BIOS update files, and I managed to extract the files from the most recent BIOS update the firmware using 7 - Zip, then I manually installed the files using the applications is it came with, WinFlash32.exe within the environment that took my USB W8. It reset my default BIOS settings and allowed me to join Windows again!

For those who have the same problem I had, do the following:

    1. install 7 - Zip on a secondary computer.

    2. open the installation file (mine was VA410218.exe) in 7 - Zip (this is a 7-Zip self-extracting file) and extract the files to a second drive.

    3. open the file launch.bat in a text editor, then took the USBs and they inserted into my laptop and starts windows 8 USB. I went to the repair of Windows, then open a command prompt.

    4. I typed in F:/WinFlash32.exe/bcp/SD /ver /cvar /v/endkey / / silent bbl /cac /cbp 30/line F:/BIOS.cap, plugged my laptop, and then press ENTER. (NOTE: the F drive may change depending on your computer.) Try a few different drives and try the 64-bit version, WinFlash64.exe, as well.)

    5. let it do its thing and it restarts, then flashed the BIOS image.

    6. he restarted once more and restarted correctly in Windows 8.

  • What happened to the "Log-in as long as different user" when the computer is locked on Windows XP?

I work in the it Department in a company and recently we have improved some of the computer to windows 7. For security reasons, computers must be locked when they are inactive for 30 minutes. The problem is that if another user needs to use the computer, it must be connected to the wide, because even the "shut down" and "restart" were removed from the "locked" screen Now on XP, in addition to these two options, we may also log in as a different user.

So my question is: is there a way to unlock the computer apart to disconnect the power cable? Should ' t the administrator be able to unlock it?

    Thank you

    André

    Hello

Yes, you are right. This is perhaps due to the issue of the domain. As I suggested in my first post, please post this question in the TechNet forum.

Do you have the drivers updated through windows update? If so bad move, all drivers must come from Lenovo.

CCleaner is not an AV or malware analysis tool, I hope that you do not use the registry tool.

  • What happens when I click on the button "lock" on Windows?

Original title: I have Windows 7 Home Premium.  What happens if I open start and click on "lock."

I have Windows 7 Home Premium.  What happens if I open start and click 'lock' with my mouse? I be asked to install a password before my closing and locking PC, or I will have no way to restart my computer because I hit the lock.  Thanks in advance.

Once you lock, you can press CTRL + ALT + DEL to unlock. If you normally connect with a password, you will be asked to enter this password to unlock. A shortcut to your lock screen is using the Windows key + L (lowercase).

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I disable the automatic locking in windows 8?

The computer locks after inactivity of approximately one minute in windows 8... I must return my password. I tried everything, power options, customization, and it's still not remove. All the functions that relate to disable automatic locking are too broad. Help please!

Found a solution, under user accounts, click Reset security policies seems to have solved the problem. In addition, it sets the problem of not being able to change the screen saver timeout. I wasn't able to track down the specific policy caused the problem in the first place, but it works for now.

  • How to activate the lock screen windows 8

I have a new computer with windows 8 (non-professional version). When I started my computer last week the screen lock always came first. Now, I noticed (a week later) is not longer to come, but goes straight to the log in page. I went to my bar of charms and customization selected and noticed the screen lock options are grayed out and in red letters is says "this page has been disabled by group policy" I am the owner and the administrator and have never knowingly changed anything.

I did some research and everyone says to change that I need to access the local Group Policy Editor by typing pgedit.msc in the run bar. When I do that I get nothing. More research says that this feature is available only in windows 8 Professional. I don't have the professional version then how this lock screen changed. More importantly, how I have re activate the lock screen?

  • Locked in "Windows is Shutting Down"

    Salvation;

Version 2.0.6 of fusion.  I just installed the updates of Windows XP Home Edition and had chosen the option restart.  I was working on something on the Mac side and also had to do a restart.  I thought that Windows restarts has been completed, but it was not.  When I turned the computer back on, my Fusion is stuck in windows is the stop downwards and I tried blocking down and reboot of the guest, sending a ctrl-alt-delete, but don't know what else to try and I Googled it and did not get a response.

I really appreciate help with this!  Thank you very much!!!

Hold the Alt key while clicking on the virtual computer option in the menu bar (and keep Alt until you have selected an option in the menu!). 'Shut Down' would become 'Force Shut Down'.
