  • How to activate the lock screen windows 8

I have a new computer with windows 8 (non-professional version). When I started my computer last week the screen lock always came first. Now, I noticed (a week later) is not longer to come, but goes straight to the log in page. I went to my bar of charms and customization selected and noticed the screen lock options are grayed out and in red letters is says "this page has been disabled by group policy" I am the owner and the administrator and have never knowingly changed anything.

I did some research and everyone says to change that I need to access the local Group Policy Editor by typing pgedit.msc in the run bar. When I do that I get nothing. More research says that this feature is available only in windows 8 Professional. I don't have the professional version then how this lock screen changed. More importantly, how I have re activate the lock screen?

  • Pavilion office 550-154na: Windows 10 & Lock screen customization

    Hello

I have a brand new out of the box PC 64-bit HP Pavilion Windows Desktop 10. I learn the tricks of the trade for Windows 10 and, above all, everything goes smoothly.

However, I am struck a problem when customizing the Windows lock screen where Cortana, help and research-online help don't prove useful.

My problem: I can't get the lock screen shows that I'm here. (Perhaps my expectation does not?)

I know that to go to start - settings - customization - lock screen.

    In this screen, I chose:

. "Windows features" as my lock screen image.
. "Mail" to "choose application display detailed status.
. "Weather" 'calendar' 'Bank' and 'Messages' to 'Apps to choose to display Quick status ".

'Display the background image Windows on the login screen' is to 'Off' (I don't think this is related to my question).

    I restarted.

When the lock screen comes into play, I see a Spot image as well as the date and the current time. The Spotlight image never changes. I don't see anything more. There no indication in the corner bottom right of my screen for mail, weather, calendar, store or messaging applications although each application is permanently enabled and working.

My expectation: when the inside lock screen shots should show current spot image, time / date, some details of the Inbox, local weather conditions (location is enabled), calendar, some info about the Store and info some info e-mail.

I'm still at the experimental stage in an attempt to solve this problem. In the meantime...

    1. is my correct expectation? Am I missing something?

    2. do I need to already have the Email applications, weather, store and open mail?

    3. is there a link between the lock screen and the screen time-out settings? Or are these two elements absolutely nothing to do with?

    4. lock screen coup in like a screen saver? How long should it take to kick lock screen? What is available to customize or fixed?

I could on the road to a dead end. I do not know!

I thank you for reading my post and for any assistance you can give.

    Kind regards

  • How to lock the screen/window

I'll try to find a way to lock the screen/window so that using the touchpad do not inadvertently change screens?

    Hello

One possibility would be to disable the clickpad function that is causing this behavior.

    You can do the following.

Open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  In the new page layout, select the entry of Synaptics.

The option, you must disable is called "Edge slips" - just click the box to remove the check mark, then click on apply and Ok to save the setting.  For an example, see the picture below.

  • How to simulate sending 'windows' key + L key for the lock screen?

    Dear Sir

I write the code of provider identification information of the recognition device of vein (usb device) to winlogon in Windows 7. I realized the function XP with Gina.

There are two parts of the requirement for the function, must be acknowledged the vein information and control the system startup, the other is that the screen of the machine must be locked when the usb device is connected to.

For the first part, it should be ok with referring to the example provider of microsoft credentials.

However, I have two problems on Windows 7 for the second part. Please help me.

In Gina, I can create the timer to monitor the connection status of device with the machine, if the device is not connected with the machine, Gina will send the sas order and lock the screen.

on Windows 7, the credentials provider dll is load and unload dynamically, I can't create the timer to monition connection of device status, after logon to the system.

question 1: is there a good way to monitior the device status after login the system?

question 2: how to send the command to the system of lock screen?

A forum script would be a much better place to post this question. Here is a VBScript that will detect the arrival or the removal of a USB mass storage device within 10 seconds:

    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\.\root\cimv2")
    Set colEvents = objWMIService.ExecNotificationQuery _
("Select * from __InstanceOperationEvent within 10 where" _)
    & "TargetInstance isa 'Win32_LogicalDisk'")

    Do for real
    Set objEvent = colEvents.NextEvent
    If objEvent.TargetInstance.DriveType = 2 Then
    Select the objEvent.Path_ box. Class
    Case "__InstanceCreationEvent".
MsgBox objEvent.TargetInstance.DeviceId & "Drive" & "has been added."
    Case "__InstanceDeletionEvent".
MsgBox objEvent.TargetInstance.DeviceId & "Drive" & "has been deleted."
    Select end
    End If
    Loop
To lock Windows you must run this command:

    RunDll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation

-In my case, I installed a jdk latest software last weekend while I had the old version of the jdk (I was not aware of his presence) and that caused the problem in the end of this week.

    - So, if you install software that is already present in your system. (be it in the previous version)
    You might face this problem.

-I would suggest Microsoft; In window 8 it must be provided some warning if someone tries to install software that is already present in the system. So this problem cannot arise.

  • How to what a notification outlook 2013 on the windows lock screen 8

I have Outlook Office 2013 2013 in 64-bit and Windows 8 Pro version.  In the Windows 8 lock screen, you can get notification for Windows Mail, Skype, calendar and some other app.

Since I use my email in Outlook 2013, so I want to have Outlook 2013 email notifications in the Windows 8 lock screen, so I know when there is new incoming e-mail.

How do I do that?  When I go to the windows start screen 8, then right swip, parameters-> change PC Settings-> customize, I tried to add the 2013, but he's not here.

    Please notify.

    Thank you.

Windows 8 is a finished product, and Outlook 2013 was a finished product even before that. So I think it's a very safe assumption that it will not change in Windows 8 or office 2013.

But remember, Windows 8 is and has always been the automatic built-in ability to display the unread emails for Outlook/Exchange/IMAP accounts on the lock screen.  All you have to do is to add your e-mail account in the mail application so it can do.  You never need to open, use or see the messaging application. Just set once and relax with the lock screen feature you want.

  • I don't want to use the screen lock on Windows 8. American holidays on the calendar,

    Hello

Anyone know if it is possible to disable the locking of Windows 8 screen function. I don't want or to do it and it's annoying to have to connect to my own computer at home whenever I want to use. I spent some time trying to sort out, but couldn't find anything.

also, I'm English American not and do not even live in the UK (or US) and I can't find how to set local or UK public holidays on the calendar. is it possible.

Finally, more techno-creepiness, not Google this time or even Avast (know of I am English). just looked at my lock screen this morning and it is the display name of my wife somehow I never would have recorded it over his birthday, how are Windows knows we have a relationship and what stupid System Designer thought that I would see his birthday notification without personally record me the event on the calendar. I hope that techno-creepiness will not worsen in the future.

in any case if someone has sensible answers to my two questions, thanks in advance.

    Hi Douglas,.

Lock screen displays events that are added to your calendar.

See this link to change the way the notifications appear on the lock screen, so that it will not display unnecessary events.

To change the details of the event from the calendar on the lock screen

Check out the options of different connection using which you can connect to your user account.

Can I connect to Windows without a password?

If you want to disable the lock screen, see this link.

To set the UK holidays in your calendar, please connect to your Hotmail account using Internet Explorer and change the country/region settings to UK.

  • Where the Windows 8 bing app stores images of bing of the day that you set as your lock screen?

When you use the bing app you right-click on the screen and set the image of bing of the day as your lock screen. On the account settings, I see the ones I put as the front lock screen and switch between them, but where he stores them on the hard drive?

    Thank you

Is not bing Office. In Windows 8, there's a bing app, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/apps?ocid=GA8_O_WOL_Hero_Home_Apps_Pos5_01#Cat=t1. Its at the bottom of this page. In the built-in applications, there is one called bing.

    Hello

Because the Bing App works directly through the internet, the images are probably stored in a temporary location.

I installed the Bing app and found the images in the following folders.

    C:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Bing_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\INetCache

When you expand the INetCache folder, you will see several subfolders that have random alphanumeric names similar to the following.

    AO87Y66Y

These subfolder names will be different on your system

Open each of these files and set the large icons view to see the images.

You can save these images in a different folder, if you wish.

Don't forget, these are temporary files and they may disappear when you clear the browser cache.

Let us know if that helps.

    Hello

What you see is by design.

Defining a custom lock screen is a specific option of the user. These options are not applied until you connect with a specific user account.

The custom lock screen picture will not display that you connect to the computer.

Once you log in, press the Windows key + L to display the lock screen and you should see your custom image.

  • Windows 8 is the gel to the lock screen.

I have no problem after startup or when using the computer, but almost everytime when I lock the computer for an extended period of time I am unable to reconnect. I can move the mouse, but there is no cursor and nothing responds on the lock screen. I have to press the reset button on the tower and restart the computer. Anyone else having a problem like this?

I think I finally discovered what was causing it. I got Bitdefender and Malwarebytes installed at the same time. I uninstalled Malwarebytes, and the problem has not returned since. Not sure if it was a combination of these two classes of installation or if Malwarebytes was the problem.

  • Why don't unlock the lock screen?

I know this is a long post, but I would be very happy if anyone with time on their hands to read.

My computer works well and has had no virus since I installed windows8 (a few months ago), but today, he worked, and I rebooted, then the keyboard and mouse would not unlock the screen no matter what I do! Normally, when I click or press a key, the screen will slide up and he asked me my password, but now, it won't work.

I tried different mouse and keyboards and all confirmed working on different machines. My work of mouse and keyboard in my bios and windows 8 s shift f8 mode. I tried different ports. I tried to unplug all USB ports and then plug on the lockscreen. I managed mode shift f8 and tried several options. Safe mode produces the same result. I tried to system restore but it gives me an error report something to do with my antivirus avira. After a Google search I found avira secure systems can't do system restored until avira is uninstalled, which I just can't do it right now.

While in the lockscreen, I have several signs that the system is not completely frozen. The changes of time. When I unplug my USB WiFi adapter, the icon changes to WiFi and it changes back when I plug it back in. Initially, my keyboard volume knob does nothing but after spamming all the buttons, turn the volume change the volume, as indicated by the meter of volume of windows 8.

Please help, I need to use my computer! I would prefer not to have to restore it because I don't want to lose a 2 TB of HDD to a value of things. I either need to find a way to uninstall avira has no access to windows and you try and the restoration of the system, or find a solution to the question itself.

I tried to follow an online guide on how to uninstall programs with cmd, but it failed. I typed in wmic and that the command was successful, the next step was to type in product of is name, but who gave me an error code and it said invalid class. After some research, I discovered that x 64 systems do not come with preinstalled WMI command-line, but I can't install it without access to windows.
