Locking the Terminal Server with group policy

Hi guys,.

I was lock a light client terminal running Windows Embedded 7.

I made sure the terminal auto logs on and IE is running in full screen mode, I also locked of many other options so that the only thing they can do is to browse our brochure line/website and log.

Somewhere along the line, something has gone wrong as whenever I click a link on the web page, I get "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.

I tried a guide I've seen suggests some reg keys may be damaged so I ran the following:

REG add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.htm/ve htmlfile, f/d

REG add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.html/ve htmlfile, f/d

REG add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.shtml/ve htmlfile, f/d

REG add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.xht/ve htmlfile, f/d

REG add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.xhtml/ve htmlfile, f/d

It seemed to work but after 2 reboots it started happening again.

I guess that something I did GP is overwhelming this when the script runs?

Any thoughts?

Thank you

Harri

  • Add the .jar to the Windows Server 2003 Group Policy

So I have an executable JAR file that is intended to run our ads system employee. It reads the data from a separate txt file and displays it in a JFrame. My goal is to have this launch when you connect to all the computers in the workstation. The program works great! However, I can't start automatically. I added to group policy, as well under Windows Logon and start the system. I added as a .jar, such as a .bat, not even as a shortcut... no dice. Is it possible to get a .jar to run automatically at Windows logon via Group Policy?

Also, I realize that JRE must be installed on all computers in the workstation for the .jar run. This isn't a problem, as many of our programs already require JRE.

For customers it does not implement try to use the GPupdate command in these machines. Also, you try to apply a restart on these machines and may also attempt to refrech domain and Active Directory.

  • Allow a standard user to install software designated as updates of Adobe reader with group policy

    Hello

I have the users configured as standard users to prevent them from installing unapproved software.

This causes problems with products such as java and adobe reader running automatic updates.  We then get cranky users because they are prompted to install the update and approval from the administrator.

Is it possible with group policy to allow pre-approved software to install as update of adobe reader?

    Thank you
