Please help me a.s.a.p.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, I understand that you are locked out of your laptop after system upgrade.

I would like to know some information.

  1. What happens when you try to sign in with your Microsoft Account password?

  2. You get no matter what error code or error message?

  3. Were you able to reset your password correctly?

You can also check if the built-in Administrator account is enabled on your computer by starting the computer in Mode safe. If so, create a new account user to the built-in Administrator account.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/Windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

To create a new user account, see the article and check if that helps.

Create a user account

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=Windows-8

Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other help with Windows in the future. We will be happy to help you.

  • Access to the C drive after refresh error

Yesterday when I booted up my pc, I got an error and it started auto repair. Repair auto falied. My C drive is almost full so I used cmd and free space then did an update of the system. The update went well, but after that whenever I try to access the C drive it says: 'access denied '. Under the name it shows "NTFS". Given that windows 8 has been installed in C itself, now I can't open system tools. Not even the properties of the drive C. I tried 'icacls' and 'takeown' but in vain. I had a lot of important things in the C drive, so it would be a real pain to format. I tried to use Linux to mount the drive, still cannot access it.  PS I want to know there is another way, I can access the files and make a backup of them? Or just to resolve "access denied"? Thank you in advance.

After refreshing win8 I lost several programs important and got Mc fairy back instead of Pro-Avast, how to make the change?

All programs and apps not installed in the store are eliminated by design. The only way to get these back comes from rei8nstall the original media or the web site. Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.

  • How can I recover my profile from' old' on my desk that was lost after refresh?

After receiving an email from firefox on checking to see if I had the latest version, he asked if I wanted to do a refresh. I did yesterday on my laptop without a problem. However today on my desk when I did the same thing, the firefox browser came and apparently my profile was lost as I've lost all my favorites, implementation homepage, etc. I found the old data of Firefox icon who gave a long list of folders and files in a file identified as c15bx6yd.default.

When you reset Firefox and a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, data form) are automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved on the desktop to a folder "Old data Firefox".
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, Pref.) that you have made are lost and must be redone.

It is possible to retrieve the data from the old profile, but be careful not to copy the files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.

  • Firefox problems after refresh problems

I did the "Refresh" asked Firefox, but now have multiple problems.

    (1) under Google to Yahoo search engine. It is a royal pain that Firefox provides no easy solution. Should be the basic option.
    (2) lost my homepage - fixed
    (3) when I reduce Firefox, he died. Must he reboot every time.
    (4) pins tabs are not remembered in the sessions
    (5) does not appear as active in the Windows taskbar

EXTREMELY frustrated by this "update of the performance.

Hi SDJ1, to change your default search engine, click on the magnifying glass to the left of the search bar, then "Edit Search Settings" at the bottom of the Panel that goes down. More information: use of the search bar in Firefox.

These symptoms are intriguing for me:

    (3) when I reduce Firefox, he died. Must he reboot every time.

    (4) pins tabs are not remembered in the sessions

    (5) does not appear as active in the Windows taskbar

On #3: Remember to always disable Firefox to use hardware acceleration? After the update, it is reactivated by default.

You can check the updates of your Intel graphics drivers by following the steps in this article: update your drivers graphics to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.

However, if this does not help, I would try to disable hardware acceleration here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it again. Any difference?

On #4: We remind the tabs pinned as part of your tabs and windows open. Is anything get restored? I assume you are using history > restore previous Session if you not automatically restore your previous session. (Restore previous session - configure when Firefox shows your most recent tabs, windows and)

If you have pinned back before tabs without having to restore your session, which could have been manipulated by an add-on.

On #5: I can't think what would cause that, unless the problem is that, after the closure of the last window, Firefox hangs and continues to run instead of closing completely. In this case, you get a message from Firefox that it cannot start because it is still ongoing, but there is no tiling/button/tab on the taskbar.

  • Edge 15 80K 9 - downloads missing after refresh

After a refresh, there are some items that I can't find in the Support downloads.

I want to reinstall is Onekey.

    Is there a download link?

Comment to Moderator: The model is added to the object for clarity.

    Hello Sophie and Virginia.

Sophie, your link took me to the download of the update of the Lenovo system that I installed and executed. It didn't reinstall the "OneKey Recovery."

Bella, I had already visited the download page for this PC and installed all Lenovo apps that were lost when I did the 'Reset' Unfortunately, OneKey was not one of them that prompted my post here.

In the search for a little further, I found a download and install link for the OneKey Recovery for Windows 8, 8.1.

I installed it and Onekey Recovery is now installed back and functioning properly.

I post the link because there may be others who find the same problem.

  • Windows 8 slowed after refresh.

At first my laptop was on a test mode, and I have no problem when he was still switched on. But then I decided to remove it and my laptop says that I need to update it. After that refreshing it slowed down a lot slower when he was on the test mode, I can't even use 2 applications at the same time. What should be the problem?

Please run a check of system files (SFC) & DISM if you're on win 8 or higher

  • Get programs after refresh with Windows.old?

    Hello

I just refreshed my installation of Windows 8 after being unable to start (he actually took me 7 hours to debug because BitLocker prevent more things and me). I noticed that there is a folder Windows.old on my main SSD, taking 52 GB. If I rename my Windows to Windows.bak folder and my Windows.old in Windows, I will answer all my programs? I get all my themes and default settings back? If this is not the case, what he would do to my installation of WIndows? Would it not able to boot? I would always get my startup problem I had?
    Thanks for any future response.

I am aware of this article. I was wondering why my old Windows folder has been saved and use what could be to me, given that my old version had a problem starting.

It's just your personal files.  Probably not of any use.

  • Please wake me up from this NIGHTMARE! -> Dating back to windows10 windows8 after refresh

    Hello

I had to update my Samsung laptop unfortunately after using Windows for a short period 10.

He didn't wake up from sleep and after the hard reset, will not start normally again, he brought me to the auto repair page where, finally, I had to update my PC.

So now I'm on new windows8 and want to come back to Windows 10 (well, I do not know why, because it was causing issues on the first place, but I thought after a refresh own it might be better)

So now the nightmare begins! I didn't expect from Windows 10 would be such a pain!

So, I can't update to Windows 10 directly from windows8 (why MS, WHY?)

So I have to go through the nightmare of upgrade to windows8.1, BUT I'm already doing it for 3 days without success.

Automatic updates makes me very very very hard, cold all the time during the download, analysis, installation, no matter what.

Finally I somehow got to the point where I have the win8.1 app in the store, but when I try to install, I get:

"Something has happened and cannot complete the installation of Windows 8.1.

previously, he even begins to download. I tried to follow the steps here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/ouc1too/archive/2013/10/25/something-happened-in-the-install-of-windows-8-1-can-t-be-completed-and-now-you-re-annoyed.aspx

but it still does not work!

and I can't complete installation of all pending updates because it fails all the time...

I just want to go back to Windows 10 but even can go to wind8.1.

I though he would go smooth after the update, but it's a NIGHTMARE!

Is there a way to circumvent this terrible thing and go directly to Windows 10?

MS, how is, you have built such a ugly update mechanism? Since I have my laptop with windows8 pre-installed I have problems and questions and I am even not use strongly. You really do a very good job in convincing people to switch to Mac.

    Please help me :(

If your installation of win 10 previous was activated I mind not even implemented to date but rather to do a clean install of ISO.  You can get them below.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is to download the ISO.  Year ISO is like a dvd in order to to use, you need to right click > go up.  Begin upgrading Windows.

WARNING: do not USE NOT THESE TO DO A CLEAN the INSTALLATION (before after you have already updated).  If you do you will not be able to activate it without having previously upgraded to win 10 and active.  Then, you will be forced to reinstall your previous operating system before the upgrade to win 10
Running the tool of creation of media warning can prevent you to roll back to a previous operating system

The official download Final Windows 10 is now available

Use the download tool to create ISO support to update your windows.

  • I have to enter the product key after refresh?

    Original title: PC Refresh

I think the update of my PC, but I bought without a key ring, came loaded with Windows 8.

From what I read he said I don't need, but looking at the instructions it says the following:

Once finished, I'll have to go to the store and reinstall Windows. I'll screw them if asking 25 digit number at this stage.

Anyone has any experience on this operation?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query to the Microsoft forum. I will definitely help you with this.

When you use Refresh , Windows starts over with a new installation of the operating system. The main difference is that the update process automatically cancels your data, Windows settings and Metro applications, then their return puts to where they belong once windows is reinstalled. Discount will not ask you the product key. Only in reset.

You can view it for update:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-PC

Note: Apps that you have installed Web sites and DVD will be removed. The applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store will be resettled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.

You can read this for more information:

How to get back my office files after a refresh

    Hi Patricia,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    Let me ask you;

    1. Do you mean to say PC Refresh?
    2. How do you Refresh?

When you perform the refresh, the applications that you install from Web sites and DVD is removed. The applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store must be reinstalled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.

If you Refresh PC without affecting your files, data (office files) must be in the same place they were before the refresh. However, if you are unable to view them, it could be a possibility to be hidden.

Open the file Explorer (for example: window of Documents)

Click file , and then check the option hidden objects

Check if you are able to view your office files

If you are unable to view your files, please come back with answers to the questions, we will be happy to help you further.

    Hi Victor,

    Thanks for the reply.

    Method 1:
You can install all Windows updates available including the optional updates and check if it helps.

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, I suggest to start the computer using safe mode and check if the problem persists or not. If the problem does not occur in Mode without failure, you can set up your computer in a clean boot and check if it helps.

    Step 1
    :
Start the computer in safe mode. At the start of the computer Mode safe with the minimum set of drivers and files.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/Windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

If the problem does not occur in safe mode with network, try step 2:

    Step 2:
Set up your computer in a clean boot state. Setting the system in a clean boot state will help you determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

Note: After the clean boot troubleshooting steps, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.
