You may have inadvertently changed your screen saver timeout, which is a Windows problem rather than a matter of Firefox.

Right-click on your Windows desktop, and then select Customize...

On the bottom right of this screen, you will see a link for the screen saver, click on that. There you can set your options for your screen saver.

Also, during validation, you'll want to use the normal type rather than ALL uppercase, because all uppercase is considered as shouting.

Like delay, start the system freeze, sometimes even if I'm on the Internet, but here lately it doesn't let me pass the logon screen at the start up. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'd say the problem seems start, either with the latest updates critical of Microsoft, or when my updated new version Max Spyware Detertor Spyware detector. Tried to uninstall the updates, but they have downloaded and reinstalled before I had the chance to see if they were causing a problem. In addition, a restore points, both before that both have been installed and correct ran system, but once again be reinstalled. Waiting patiently all the ideas. Thanks in advance.

    Hello Oz1956

If you suspect one of these updates was to blame, we need to know.

You can get in Mode safe?  Press F8 repeatedly every time you start boot and boot in Safe Mode

First of all the turn off automatic updates , so it cannot install again

    Right-click on my computer/properties/automatic updates

    Disable it completely here.

    Disable Spyware detector Updater.

I think that you will find in msconfig

    Start/run and type

    Msconfig

    Ok

    Startup tab

Search here and disable the update, not the program itself.  The entry should say Updater.

Then re-run the system restore to before these updates and see if the problem is fixed

If all goes well turn on automatic updates and let it install the updates. See what happens then.  If the system is still Ok reactivate detector spyware Updater to er-checking the box.

This will tell you if one of them is to blame

  • Top of the screen cut off

First Watch that most of the people are going to say that I have a screen resolution problem, I can tell you that it is not the case. The problem, for some reason any the top of my screen is off; but not in the usual way. Its as there is a buffer as if Explorer thinks it can go as high as she can (rephrasing Windows Explorer solves the problem for a little bit, but then it goes back to be cut.) I have a dual monitor set up, with a monitor 20' via vga and a 22' tv via hdmi, regardless of which I display main happens and only on the primary display. You can still see just background Explorer will go on top of the page if he at the top of the screen. I tried a clean boot, but that did not work, I don't know what are the causes of the problem, it seems to just happen on its own. The screen 20' resolution is 1600 x 900 and the TV resolution is 1920 x 1080. Anyone have any ideas?

Well I just inadvertently solved the problem... it turns out that it had nothing to do with the resolution of the screen, but it was the fault of dell all! Reference Dell defined the default theme to one that changed the log on the bottom, until I restarted, I changed the theme to the theme of landscape. When I logged in and the screen did not get pushed down, I changed the theme of dell and of course, everything has been cut. So I just stay away from this theme dell then.

  • Can someone tell me what I should type in the screen command prompt to access the setupapi log so I can delete the files that stops me reinstall windows xp?

My dell PC crashed then I followed the news online & tried to reinstall windows XP from my original CD. However, the keyboard & mouse stop working when the installation gets to the 33 minute section which requires me to a box on the screen. I saw tips online who says lets you check the setupapi log & delete the file question (s) that prevents the installation but it required that use you SHIFT & F10 to enter the command prompt screen, but my keyboard is isolated at this time. So I went in the recovery console (I think it's the command prompt)?  but I don't know which of the listed commands to use to perform the advice. I would be very grateful for help.

    Thank you

Repair installs being problematic, I would not waste any more time at this stage. You are ready to perform a clean installation?

  • Whenever the system is booted it shutsdown and the BSOD right before seeing the screen Ctrl Alt Del to log on. STOP: 0 X 05001210 (0 X 00000000, 0 X 00000000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

    Original title: Stop: 0 x 05001210

On a Toshiba Portege M700 with Windows XP, I get a BSOD with the following:

    STOP: 0 X 05001210 (0 X 00000000, 0 X 00000000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

There is no further information on what happened, it just says: a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

I don't know any specs on the system (processor, memory, ect) I was given this laptop from edge of my guy on the ground.  I searched and I can't find any info on this Stop error message.  It was not a new hardware or software installed on the laptop recently, other than a possible update of Windows, I'm not sure.

Whenever the system is booted it shutsdown and the BSOD right before seeing the screen Ctrl Alt Del to log on.  I tried the Safe Mode, Mode safe mode with network and command prompt.  Each instance you get to the log in window, but when after entering my info and loggging stop immediately with the same BSOD.  I also tried the last good Config known with no luck.

Also, the hard drive is encrypted so I can just shoot and get a backup of it before you try to reinstall the operating system.  I have not tried to repair windows, yet, I'm waiting to try other solutions if they are there.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.  If you need any other information, just ask and I'll give you everything I can.

    Hello Jordan,.

Have you been able to get into the recovery console?

If so, I would recommend running the CHKDSK command of it followed by the Enter key:

    CHKDSK C:/P

    Let us know.

    Best regards

  • Windows Vista - stuck on logging off the screen

I have this same problem with Vista Home Premium that others have had.  When I tried to shut down the computer laptop last night, he is stuck at logging off-page - with the active circle always renewable.  After 20 minutes or so I was tired so close by using the power button.  This morning when I turned on the laptop, he went to the same page of disconnection. 3 hours later, it's still there!  My technical knowledge is, to say the least, "limited."  I tried to open safe restart mode and pressing F8, as suggested on other threads, but which didn't work - I can not go beyond the logging off the screen. How can I solve this?

I had the same problem... This method works.

Turn on the computer and when the screen shows recovery Windows press the space key.

You will be presented with 2 options - either to continue with system resume or to remove the Hibernation file and start with primer system - choose the second option - you're fixed!
