looking for a networking best practices publication

The following quote re ESX host network configuration came from one of our technical pre-sales representatives IBM in the Vancouver area...

"IBM and VMware have long have jointly published a best practice of the 2 Ethernet interfaces (1 Gb/s each) have teamed up for a redundancy and bandwidth - separated into 3 VLANs - to serve the three channels (management, vmotion and vmnetwork).

Someone at - it a link to this document?  I can't seem to find it, and I really want to read.

Thank you.

    I searched this mystery file: setup .msi [1] and can't find it.

    What should I do?

    Thanks for the info.

    Looks like it's maybe a Windows Installer error... has

    Sorry, I don't have the answer and the only idea I can

  • Windows 7 is constantly looking for other networks and drop connection

    Original title: the upgrade of Windows 7 for XP

    I first installed this OS a year ago to this date. Loved, absolutley was entrenched with how easy it was and just how 'worked '. I am a software developer myself and am happy to report all my IDEs, the server settings, etc. all worked like a charm. I had a little problem with VPN but it works with the Vista one (with some work) so I can't complain.

    My problem and this is why I uninstalled windows 7 and will be EVER is back at it before it is solved the same problem 10 years ago. He keeps every 60 seconds looking for other networks or drop the connection no reason apparent. With windows XP, I could disable the Zero wireless and everything would be fine. However, with windows 7 if I turn the WLAN service nothing on this earth that will allow me to connect to it without a third-party application.

    In the end I used a 3rd party app made by the chipset driver and it still failed (but had limited success).

    It is a known problem with windows operating systems. This just "does not work" at all. It's a pain in the thigh and is the reason why people are saying that the wireless is terrible for gaming. I know that isn't true since I have never had a fall with windows XP or my dual boot SuSe OS. 3rd parties even tried to fix this for microsoft in creating the WLAN and Vista Antilag optimizer which all fail for windows 7.

    And just to show you how apparent is this bug...

    customer complaints

    It seems to somehow keep seeps through the cracks with every version of windows. Simply because I know that this wont never be resolved after 10 years ive thrown my copy in the trash and advising all my loved ones to stay on XP. I used to think... "they'll fix" but quite honestly, I think that microsoft is tone deaf to it.

    With regard to upgrading my firmware on my router is concerned, I have programmed my own. I used 3 different routers. My drivers are all up to this date for my card wireless on this box. I used XP drivers with slightly better results but remains unacceptable. I was running with a hackintosh and vmware fusion rather than deal with these headaches after work.

    Maybe im being a bit too critical, but make you pay back for a BONE which does not have everything because of XP.

    After buying a WNDR3700 N600 top double band brand new brand of the router Netgear power line she didn't always.

    2 solid ways fixed my issue.

    the network of windows 7 reason fails

    One, I had to turn off the service navigation computer in administrative services as noted above.

    Two, I had to turn off the power save feature on the usb network adapters.

    Not many people understand how to solve this problem, but I would ditch the derivative of the net bios completely.

  • Upgrading ESX 3.0.2 for 3.5 - best practices and tips

    Hello

    I am currently managing a virtual environment running on ESX 3.0.2 and VC 2.0.2. I intend to upgrade this year to ESX 3.5 and VC 2.5. Anyone know where I can find information on best practices to upgrade and / or a document of instructions that will take me through the process? I had a glance on the VMWare Web site but cannot find anything.

    See you soon

    I have attached a document with this information.

    First of all you must upgrade the VC and the database, then you must upgrade from ESX.

  • Looking for specific network cards

    I'm looking to find adapters to specific network within our infrastructure.  I have been using this command.

    $vms = get - vm; foreach ($vm in $vms) {write-host $vm. {Name "-" $vm.networkadapters [0] .Guy}

    I want to filter to find the flexible network adapter.  After all of the network adapters were found, we seek to find an automated way to change all the flexible drivers.  If anyone can help me to filter the flexible drivers, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    The following PowerCLI script lists all the virtual machines with Flexible type network adapters:

    Get-VM | Get-NetworkAdapter | Where-Object {
      $_.Type -eq "Flexible"} | `
      Select @{N="VM";E={$_.Parent}},@{N="Network Adapter";E={$_.Name}},Type

    If you want to change the type of network adapter for all Flexible Vmxnet3 network cards you can do that with the following script:

    Get-VM | Get-NetworkAdapter | Where-Object {
      $_.Type -eq "Flexible"} | `
      Set-NetworkAdapter -Type Vmxnet3 -Confirm:$false

  • Make Windows 8 stop looking for wireless networks

    On my PC Win 8, the list of available WiFi networks is huge. I don't want to see all the networks of my neighbors in my list. How can I make my display manually configured networks single machine?

    A Microsoft representative published in another conversation that you can do so by disabling the service of automatic wireless configuration of service within the management of the computer.

    You can reach the Services Control Panel a few ways, but a quick option here:

    1) press Windows + R to display the race

    (2) type services.msc , and then click OK.

    (3) find the automatic wireless configuration service in the list and right-click/Properties.

    (4) to stop this service, set the startup type to "manual" or "disabled".

    You can always disable this back on, so it's a safe operation.

    After that, you should be able to manually create a WiFi network essentially the same way as you would in Windows Vista or 7.

  • Authorization for each VM (best practices)

    Hello

    I have a virtual machine that I want to give a user access to through the VI client. However, I want to only that user to have access to this virtual machine. Is it possible to leave to installation so that when a user connects to customer VI the only virtual machine that they see is them they gave authorities too?

    As always, I would appreciate help with this guy.

    See you soon,.

    Pedro.

    Is this a configuration vCenter ESX Server or standalone? Whatever it is, you can define all other virtual machines to no access for this user account, then apply specific permissions of read-only, read / write, etc for the unique virtual machine that you want them to see. If you use only the ESX authentication, keep in mind that this account is performed on the ESX Server itself - one of the benefits of the use of vCenter and AD authentication is that you can simply add AD to this user account permissions on the host computer.

    They connect the VI client and will only see as VM - test first with their powers.

  • HTML and CSS best practices for Eloqua?

    Hello Topliners community,

    My name is Ben and I am a Web Designer. Currently looking for guidance on best practices in HTML and CSS when you work with Eloqua. I am interested in best practices for email and landing pages.

    Thank you

    Ben

    For landing pages, you can use a bit of HTML, CSS, and Javascript like on any other page. For example, we use the Bootstrap on a couple of our Eloqua landing pages.

    Support for HTML and CSS is much more limited. It is one of the best resources I've seen for CSS support:

  • BEST PRACTICES FOR PL/SQL

    Hi all
    I'm looking for advice on best practices to create c# applications that have Oracle as backend.
    I noticed this insertion, update, and delete procedures are not so dynamic because they are static:

    Insertion procedure:
     Create or replace procedure insertion (param1 in varchar2 default '',
    param2 in number default 0, param3 in float default 0,
     table_to_insert in varchar2, Some_error out varchar2) is
    begin
    if (table_to_insert='table1_spec') then
    insert into table1 (val1,val2,val3) values (param1, param2,param3);
    elsif (ect) then
    .
    .
    .
    end;
    /
    Updated and delete procedures also have the same behavior, I wonder if you use a cursor to do more dynamic values return and the use of native dynamic SQL could not help the developers and I have to have something more dynamic.
    Kind regards

    What John said. (even if I would have been more blunt and used the expression "+ approach silly +" several times) {noformat} ;-) {noformat}

    The most flexible approach is to abstract the complexities of SQL, the relational database and the physical implementation of it, of the code c# developer.

    No need to know the database design, the joints, the structures table, SQL and others. Instead the abstract layer takes care of that - where this layer is a suite of packages of PL/SQL procedures and functions.

    As the c# developer would use the Win32 API for creating threads, or the use of Sockets of Win, it now uses the layer of abstraction of PL/SQL in a similar way.

    You want to add an invoice? No need to know the name of the table, the structure of the table and SQL - c# code calls simply the CreateInvoice()PL/SQL procedure.

    This code performs the validation. Business rules and logic. The SQL.

    More, the underlying database model can change, the new rules of business introduced and so on - and the call from c# to CreateInvoice() will remain the same and the c# code not affected by these changes in dorsal.

    Oh yes - it does not using PL/SQL code to extract data from line in the PL/SQL variables and then push these data in turn to the c# client code.

    It means that a procedure or a function like GetCustomertInvoices() returns a ref cursor to the appellant to consume. (the SQL to create the slider is abstract - not the actual slider itself because it is correct the only way to access the data in row SQL)
