Looking for WiFi blackBerry smartphones.

Hello. I searched the Board of Directors and have not found an answer to my question, so please forgive me if this has been asked before.

I have a 8330, Verizon is my carrier and I have a data plan unlimited. The wireless in my home coverage is practically nonexistent; e-mails come but all web browsing is very slow. I have a WiFi at home and would like to tap into it, but have not been able to understand how to set up on the BB. Another thread talked about going into options, advanced and changing the selection in the browser to "hotspot browser" but I did not have this choice available. On my phone, it reads "internet browser" and there is no other choice to select.

A wi - fi connection is available on my 8330? If so, how do I configure it?

TIA,

Chris

Sorry, the 8330 doesn't have WiFi capabilities.

It's something that would have discovered a tiny bit of research on the front...

The 8530 in fact, if you can get it... 9650 is also.

  • For the blackBerry Smartphones Reset network settings

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to reset the network settings on a Blackberry Curve 8520, I can find on how to do a complete reset but not a network reset. Your would be much appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    RocknRollTim

N.. completely different. For your mobile network, with a strong network carrier (for example, not only WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... Please wait just before moving on to the next step):

    1) register HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    2) Remove and return Service books

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    3) restart

    • With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.
    • See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should try remove and re-add your configurations for the relevant accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.

For the wireless, there is no sort directly 'reset' nothing beyond removing and reconfiguring of the WiFi network configurations. Beyond that, things as device WIPE, reloading the OS, and other very drastic measures would be required. And, important to note, I have no way of knowing if this is really necessary... you did not no matter what description of what happens, so it is not possible to understand your situation and you give more targeted recommendations.

    Good luck!

  • Strength of preferred WiFi blackBerry Smartphones

My University has two WiFi; the "guarantee a ' it's a shame to see that I can't access it via my Bold 9900, then the 'Guest' network I always manually select the network of comments because it's the only one that works for me. I'll be happy and web browsing, when all of a sudden, my bb decides to move to the secure network because it is stronger at the moment. It's an honest mistake, really, my phone is just trying to help. How can I prevent to automatically choose the protected network and say that it only connects to the guest network? Please, any help would be great.

    BB for life!

Hi even1etter and welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums!

To avoid switching between available networks, remove your Wi - Fi registered the "secure" network networks  Go in manage connections, select the Wi - Fi network, and select saved Wi - Fi networks.  Highlight your 'secure' network, press the menu key and select Remove.

The BlackBerry smartphone will only transfer connections to saved Wi - Fi networks.

    Thank you.

Do you have a data Plan BlackBerry enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?

You have to, to get the push RIM email functions you are looking for, as well as services of BlackBerry data such as the Web browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger and much more.

Then, call your carrier a inquire to have the BlackBerry data Plan added to your account.

    Good luck.

  • Questions on Wifi blackBerry Smartphones

Where I am (until they get the fixed cell tower, he was struck by a tornado) cellular service is mediocre. On a good day, I could have 3 bars, but it is usually around 1 bar. Makes very slow navigation. Now, maybe it's my imagination (please tell me if it is) but when I turn on my wifi (I have dsl with router and have put my phone for her) fast playback speed is faster, so I guess I'm on wifi connections and network navigation. (I have a data plan) Am I correct in assuming that?

That being said, when I leave the House and I know there is no wifi available, I try to remember to turn off the wifi because I'm afraid that if my phone is looking for a wifi connection, it will be hard on the battery. Am I correct in this assumption?

I have this phone including in a life more or less. Tell you what, the technology must slow down. My old brain can't follow.

Not only correct. It is possible to configure a browser which network to use.

He seems to want a name before accepting my ringtone of choice, in and out of the Holster.

    I'll look at the URL.

To switch between profiles, simply click on the profile icon and then scroll down and click on the desired profile (sounds like you want, then click on that).

To change a profile, follow these steps:

    1. click on the profile icon

    2. scroll down and click on advanced

    3. in the list of profile names, select Loud, then press the Menu button (on the left of the trackball)

    4. click on edit in the menu

Now you should see the options in the case and the case you are looking for.  I think you were accidentally go into the profiles of Exception, which is more than you want to.

  • Ringtone for Contacts blackBerry Smartphones

Recently got my Storm a couple of weeks. So I apologize if this is a question that has been answered, or simply a newbie question. In any case, it is possible to assign a different ringtone to each contact? Thanks in advance for any response.

Oh Wow! I think I can really help with this one! (LOL Fellow newbie here!)

Here is how to assign a ringtone for each contact:

Click on the contacts icon and open it. Then, find the contact you are looking for and click on it. When it is open, click on the BB (the one with the points!) and find where it says edit. A click on it.

If you scroll along the contact information, you will see where it says "your/custom alerts.

There is one for the phone and the other for messages.

If you click on each one, it will come a menu allowing you to choose a ring for each type. Then click on the back button (curved arrow), press on save and you should be good to go.

In the sound profiles, make sure that you are ready to receive the alert tones.

Oh boy, I hope this helps and makes some sense. If this is not the case, let me know where you are stuck, or better yet, maybe someone else can simplify!

Hope that this will at least help you get started!

    Good luck!!

  • My menu wifi blackBerry smartphones is broken

My menu wifi is broken and rely on the wifi network menu... only an empty box with exclamation is delivered with an ok in it.

Please give a solution to this.

I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup of your PC... Please see the Backup link in my sig auto on this post for instructions.

Good luck and let us know!

  • WiFi blackBerry Smartphones Curve 9300 3 problem

    Hi, I recently got my first Blackberry - a 9300 3.

It seems impossible to connect to my home network via WiFi. I've implemented the BB with a manual setting that I have a non-broadcast SSID and password is correct. My router is a Netgear DG834GT. I have a laptop connected via WiFi so I don't know the router, WiFi & DSL is all operational.

I can sporadically, but not systematically, ping the router of the BB, but I can't ping a web address (for example google.com). I can't ping the BB from my PC, but an IP Scanner confirms that the BB is on the network.

My career has suggested a reboot, reinstall the firmware and turn WiFi off & on - everything I did.

I'm very knowledgeable PC, reasonably network aware, but a complete newbie to BB and smartphones.

    Any ideas?

Well, I've sorted - or rather Geek Squad pointed me the right direction.

It seems that the phone does not like the standard security WPA - PSK Protocol. While the router is recognized, the phone cannot communicate through the router.

Change the wireless security protocol on the router to WPA2-PSK has solved the problem. Of course, if you do this you must also change the Security Protocol on all your other devices on the wireless network, or else they may not work.

  • Help for BBM blackBerry Smartphones & Facebook does not not for 9320 - problem with "host Routing Table? -Virgin

So, today I received my new 9320 at Virgin Mobile, first Blackberry & love the phone! but I can't use the BBM or Facebook app...

At first I could not even access the browser while that connected to my wifi... then I phoned Virgin & they helped me to reset the settings on my BB that I could use the browser etc...

I thought it was problem solved, until I discovered BBM and Facebook, use app world separate service? Anyway, I phoned up to Virgin because I wanted to do this job, they are included in my package & I did not understand why I can't access any of them...

After a long phone call the problem has proved that the "host routing table" was empty and (according to in Virgin) there is a problem with new BlackBerry receiving these details... they said this isn't a problem on the end there & told me there is nothing more they can do so to click 'register now' and wait for the details...

24 hours later and nothing, so I hope someone here can help me, make me a BB the whole point is things miss me actually lol and I feel now I'm paying for a phone contract I can't really use it, without any help from my provider?

    Any help?

    Or

Anyone with a new BB knows something like that recently? Thank you

Wow... Virgin you gave really there. You see, you PAY for 100% of your services and 100% of your formal support... at the moment, they seem to be or you deliver. Only they have the ability (in fact the RESPONSIBILITY!) to degenerate RIM requiring improved support of cases (from your description, it must be that... with a HRT empty, nothing that anyone here can do). End users have no free path to receive assistance from the RIM at all - only via the escalation. So, what I would do if I were you, is their ring back... but this time do not let you fob OFF... insist that, because you HAVE them, you have a contract with them and they are about to be in violation of this contract - they must solve your problem, degenerate into RIM if they wish.

    Good luck!

  • Wifi blackBerry Smartphones Blackberry application

    Hello

I'm trying to troubleshoot an end user with a problem, he saw. This particular user has had his invalid SIM card and only uses the Outlook on Blackberry via WiFi feature. He said that it connects at its connection to the home or the spot on his Samsung phone. Once it is connected to wifi, his mailbox and the calendar.

Since last Friday, his mailbox has not been updated. I was told by colleagues that it is not possible to access your e-mail in this mode, but this user is using this method for several months.

Please someone can confirm if it is actually possible to do this, or what could be causing the synchronization fails.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello and welcome to the community!

With the BlackBerry, the native Messages app can work with an e-mail account if there is adequate data of a business plan. Natively, email on a BB is an enhanced service, requiring the use of some such servers hosted by carriers and BlackBerry - without a correct data account, access to these servers is denied and this email does not work via the application Messages.

Often, carriers are slow to cancel things... I think in this situation is that it was active on this card SIM at a time in the past, and the carrier has recently "caught up" cancel those who use the services for which they do not pay.

    Good luck!
