  • Loop of startup repair after vista update on 15-04-09

    .post a {text-decoration: underline ;}}

    Hello

I hope someone here can help me.  I tried Googling for solutions, but after having tried everything without success, I'm bringing my problem here.

I had gone through the internet when the program to close unexpectedly.   After trying to restart my laptop Dell 1720 (Windows Vista Home Premium), I went to bed after seeing the stage 2/3 update on the screen. It shows, in the morning, he can not start and gives me the ability to startup repair. After that, it is said that it cannot repair this computer automatically. Details of the problem are the following:
    Startup Repair V2
    AutoFailover
    6.0.6000.16386.6.0.6001.18000
    Bad driver
    WrpRepair

I tried to restore to previous restore points (all tell me there's a missing file, error code 0 x 80070002), safe mode, last known good configuration and I end up in the same loop of startup repair. I have not installed recent programs, drivers and devices.  I am depressed and want to avoid going back to a factory installation since I've had this laptop for a year and have a ton of files and programs.  Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ETA: I also run chkdsk (no errors found) and sfc/scannow (Windows Resource Protection cannot run task or something like that).

In fact, my problem has been able to start Windows Vista after the last update (14/04/09) install.  The error code came when I tried to restore my system to my restore points.  Finally I ended up taking my hd to access my data.  Then I tried to reinstall Vista from Dell provided and had problems reinstall drive to do so (hung up END INSTALLATION).  A call to Dell support had me change some of my BIOS settings and finally managed to get Vista installed.  Now, I'm in the painful process of restoring all my programs and personal data.  This time, I created a partition for the operating system and a separate for all my photos, music, etc. so I don't have this problem of losing all my data the next time the fact once again Vista (and it will be!  I already lived 2 BSOD since reinstalling 2 days ago!)  So, there was no solution to my original post.  Good luck to everyone else who has the same problem with the Vista updates.

Where are you seeing the 3.29 "usable"?  It would be fair that the rest is in fast cache.

  • Black screen startup repair, Windows 7 cursor

After installation of about 25 updated today, my Windows 7 Ultimate Boot Camp partition on my 9.1 iMac no longer boot Windows. I think there could be a problem due to a video card driver updated, although I have no way of knowing if a driver has been updated.

I use the Startup Repair tool, but I have a black screen with no cursor. I got the text screen to enter the startup as well as the Windows logo for a short period after this repair. When I put my ear close to the computer, I could hear the disk being accessible so I guess the Startup Repair did something, but now when I listen to it I can hear the fans. I started about 90 minutes ago the Startup Repair.

My question is how can I find out when the Startup Repair tool is completed? Will it automatically reboot the machine, or wait for the user to input after it ended? Use mouse input any required or can I do blindly using the keyboard?

Also, is it possible I could get Windows starts in Mode safe? This way I could isolate any problem with the video card drivers. There is no option to start in Safe Mode, when I turned on the machine. Note that because I use a Mac, I don't have the BIOS screens, I UEFI which, on Mac, gives only a choice of which partition to boot from.

I need is no longer an answer for this.

    Here's what I did:

I turned off the computer using the switch after 2.5 hours of startup repair and checking that I could not even hear the disk being accessed... Windows would not start again. I started in El Capitan (Mac OS X) and installed the rEFInd Boot Manager. I rebooted the machine, intending to try to fix it from a floppy disk, bootable USB Win 7 Ultimate, but selected by mistake partition Boot Camp and Windows started normally.

The only thing I can think of that changed is that I installed rEFInd, but I don't know why, it would make a difference.

  • Windows 7 64 - bit SP1 apparently random freezes for about 30 to 60 seconds

    Other users of the computer,

I am using windows 7 64 bit home edition premium for a few months now. I have a problem in which windows seems to freeze. It can happen anywhere from 4 or 5 times the time to 'only' once every two hours. I can move the cursor, but I can not click on windows, use alt - tab and so on. Usually, this will last between 30 and 60 seconds, after which everything returns to normal. It seems no matter what I do when this happens. During navigation, games, Assembly, etc... The gadget from windows performance tells me the cpu is about 1-5% and the RAM is not at maximum. I tried to:
-set the system to high performance. HDD sleep disabled. Hybernation and disabled sleep
ran-a cleanboot. Problem has happened yet (playing Battlefield 3)
-a run the File Checker system windows using an elevated command prompt. No problem there.
-checked all (1 SSD and HDD 2) drives for issues with checkdisk and SeaTool. No problem found.
-checked for malware malwarebytes with MSE. No problem there.
-uninstalled VLC player I saw a dozen of entries "reconfigure" in the form of reliability of windows (or whatever it's called)
-disabled Aero icon composite (?) Use the Dutch version so I'm not sure of what his English in)
    -turned off refresh of wallpaper
-order stickynotes (as I came across something where the viewer in which he said he could not access)

-closed sidebar and practically another program that was underway...
.. and still the problem occurs. I don't have this problem under Vista 32 bit but I must say I have updated my graphics card and added the SSD at about the same time, I decided to move to W7 64-bit.
These days I kept a journal when it happens. When I cross check these with the event viewer I get a few events 4624, 4672 and 7036, which stand out. They do not seem to take into account all issues well.

I spent a lot of time to check all components in my configuration. From the bios, cables on memory, software and so on. It turned out to be the ocz vertex 3 ssd which was the question. I made an update of the firmware, secure erase, and all I could do with the help of assistance from ocz with no sollution. I'm the DSS to return this week and exchange it for one ssd intel. Check the forums to ocz for your type of ssd n additional info to see what you could try. If not, return it immediately.

  • Problems installing Windows 7 64-bit SP1: "The Installation was not successful" DS_S_SUCCESS (0x0)

I'm unable to install the Windows 7 SP1 on my laptop.  I am running Win 7 64 bit and tried to install the 64-bit SP1 via the feature updates automatic first, then with the SP1 download manually (Windows6. 1 - KB976932 - X 64 .exe).   The progresses to install SP1 to the point where it shuts down the system and it is charging but when I log in I get the dialog Setup SP1 reporting "the Installation was not successful".  By clicking on the link error display shows DS_S_SUCCESS (0x0).

(I followed the steps of troubleshooting 1) by using the Troubleshoot Utility "Difficulty of problems with Windows Update" and 2) installed tool Rediness of updating system, but the installation of SP1 still fails with the same error.

I have successfully applied the SP1 on a different system.  No idea why I have problems with my laptop.

    Any ideas?

    C thx.

Have you checked your hard drive to find errors? Another obscure, you might try is to disable User Account Control temporarily.

Its possible, you need to perform an update of the BIOS if one is available for your ThinkPad T60p. Also, check the updated chipset drivers.

Furthermore, disconnect any non-essential device, you may have attached to the system.

Its possible the SP1 download may be corrupted, I would like to download another copy and try again.

  • CS4 crashes on startup on Windows 7 64 bit

My company has recently updated cs4 with windows 7 and decided to go with production premium. We're going to, its been installed and works in all programs except first that crashes after loading plugins. We tried to contact adobe in this matter, but they were useless say the least. We use the same windows 7 and premium production as all the world, it is probably a common problem with a common solution?

How did you install Win7, incidentally?  You upgrade a previous operating system, or was this a new installation?

The call stack appears to show that one of the plugins MediaIO writer goes down in flames.  Guess Bill quicktime was one - it could also be that Windows Media is somehow lack of some components.

Here's what I would try: go to the following folder:

    c:\Program files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro Cs4\MediaIO\writers\

Rename all the extensions file to .old or something.  Launch - the application load now?  So, if this is the case, re-enable one at a time, lance each time, until you discover which are causing you trouble.

(Then after return, so that we know and can eventually figure out how to work them again.)

    See you soon

  • unspported functioning after you install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 on Windows 7 64 bit SP1(64bit)

    Hello

I installed Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1(64bit) from here

    However, I met this errro:

If the host operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, you cannot load a 64-bit operating system in the virtual machine. The host operating system must be 64-bit to run 64-bit virtual machine.

Also, if you are running a 64 bit version of Windows 7, then you need to make sure that you have selected the right architecture of Windows Virtual PC on Windows Virtual PC download page.

  • Windows Update says that my Windows Vista (32 bit - SP1) is up-to-date - but is not

I'm doing a fresh install of Vista on my desktop computer - using the original recovery of the DVD provided with my system. Installation went without a hitch and I am now manually check the updates of Windows. Had a devil of a time getting SP1 to install - it kept appearing as having been installed in my history of update - yet when I checked in system properties, there was no indication that SP1 had actually been installed. To overcome this problem, I downloaded the SP1 from Microsoft and installed manually. Now run the SP1 successfully and since I run Windows Update manually a few times and you have installed all available updates. Now, the problem is that Windows Update says that my version of Windows is "up-to-date" - and I know that's not true that I am yet to SP1 and the latest Vista service pack is SP2 - that Windows Update does not offer me because he sees my machine as being up to date. I tried to download and run the Microsoft FixIt tool and have done so several times. Whenever I run this FixIt, the results show that there are problems that need to be addressed and which are later 'fixed'... yet Windows Update continues by saying that my machine is up to date, when, obviously, is not. Machines confused!

Any help, guidance, advice, and/or marriage offers will be entertained and appreciated (just kidding on that last one). Thanks in advance!

    Mark

«Billybogs, thanks...» In fact, I found this answer even very late last night and had not yet had the opportunity to post my resolution. After trying FixIt after FixIt and even deployment of the tool was updated to Vista system, I still was getting messages from Windows Update saying that my system is up to date. Then I got the great idea to download and manually install SP2 - as I had also had to do with SP1 somehow. And sho' enough that did the trick. So thank you for the answer you provided - it was the same answer that I myself had discovered late last night. Thanks again!

You should be able to get SP2 from here: -.
