Lose support for SP2

I constantly fix comps for people who lose a hard drive or MB. I have discs for XP home and Pro, but they are only SP2. I usually pass through the challenge to bring them up to SP3. Should I have any specific update for when lose us the support of SP2 or is everything I need in SP3?

You can always download / create the adminastrative sp3 Setup disk cd

  • Extreme SSD 120GB - No. TRIM support for Linux later? $150 wasted?

I am a customer of Sandisk's long-term and generally been happy with their products.

My favorite and the only OS is Linux, like the millions of PC users, laptop, Tablet and smartphone world. I'm about to take delivery of a brand new Sandisk Extreme SSD 120 GB. This is my 2nd SSD (the other being of Kingston). I just found this review online (newegg.com) about current support for Sandisk Extreme SSD TRIM for Linux:

"Cannot support a topping on LINUX. I also use EXT4 throw tag in/etc/fstab and it does not work. I sent Sandisk. They said: "I understand that you were not able to activate the TRIM on your SSD 120 GB extreme linux system command. We are sorry for the inconvenience this problem may have caused. »

Then I remember seeing this in own of Sandisk SSD info online:

"Any operating system can be installed on an SSD. There is NO compatibility problem with regard to the operating system. Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix any version or BACK can be installed on an SSD.
Certain features such as the PLATE only are supported in mode native on the latest operating systems such as Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6 and higher. »

I'm worried. First of all, I have always use the latest version of Linux, continually updated to day and make all the necessary preparations for the maximum performance of SSD (including changes to operating and fstab AHCI). Then my other SSD worked flawless since (installed 6 months ago) news including the TRIM under Linux.

Then I read elsewhere that Sandisk provides no SSD firmware still updates (?). Is this correct?

If so, then Houston, we have a (major) problem. Product not suitable to use? Misrepresentation of product? Inadequate technical support? Incomplete engineering front of dumping on the market?

I might be worrying unduly. Heck, I really hope someone can help me, clarity and TRIM unlimited direct. Can I use my new Sandisk Extreme SSD as my other player, without product development stressful of Sandisk. (Before I drop the fanboys Win7 and Mac, Linux is also valid in the real world like any OS corporate-drone. Heck one day you too could see the light...)

Good news all around. Extreme SSD arrived and installed without a hitch. Also received a number of useful answers E-mail of Support technical Sandisk (thanks, notably, spear, who approached the plate). In short, if you have a recent Linux kernel installed, opt for the filesystem ext4 on both / and / Home. But first of all to be absolutely sure that you have selected the AHCI option in the section of the BIOS of your motherboard SATA mode. (Flashing the latest mainboard BIOS should also help.) So to allow TOPPING Linux offers edit you your file/etc/fstab to include the "noatime" instructions and "throw" in the lines making reference to / and / Home. Save and you should be good to go. So to answer my own original doubts - TRIM is supported for latest Linux OS provided that you follow the installation process. I lose $150? Probably not, but only time and toggle NAND will tell!

  • End of support for Windows Vista?

I read on the website of mutiple Microsoft gives more updates for Windows Vista Home Premium after April 10, 2012. Is this true? On the official Microsoft page (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/products/home), it says: "Microsoft sells more than Windows Vista, although we will continue to support. It is still available from some retailers. " And when I look on the end of Support page (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/end-support), he said only that the support for SP1 had completed last year.

So I'm a bit confused. I would be grateful is someone could clarify that for me.

    Hello remco8264,

Please see the end of support for the OS to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 at the following link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/products/lifecycle

You wouldn't get updates for Windows Vista SP1, but if you install your service pack SP2, you will always receive updates.

    I hope this helps.

  • Win 7 Support for Intel 865 G (HP D530 SFF) graphics card

I recently upgraded my HP/Compaq D530 SFF model (small footprint) Pc in XP - PRO on Win - 7.  The upgrade was easy and went smoothly.  Update Windows automatically updated the driver ADI AC97 Integratd Digital Audio to worm 5.12.1.5410 and the driver Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet to worm. 10.100.0.0, which are listed by HP as Win-Vista certified.

Unfortunately, it didn't automatically update the driver for the hardware Intel 865 G chipset motherboard graphics.  Instead, it installs a Microsoft "generic" drivers VGA game.  My D530 SFF special is a 2.8 ghz P4 hyperthreading, but according to the HP "Drivers WEB site" (for XP), all versions of the HP D530 has the same graphics hardware. so, my exact submodel should not really matter.

Windows 7 runs strong (at least as well as XP) on this beautiful little PC.  In three days, it has generated NO 'system' or 'application' error log.  Win-7 notification Center, however, annoyingly tells me everytime I open a program of specific graphics of Win - 7 (even the game of Solitaire) that my video card is running in "software rendering" mode with NO hardware acceleration.  Even the Solitaire game runs very slowly, but it runs without error.  Microsoft "DirectX Diagnostic Utility" indicates that DirectX 11 is running correctly on my PC and it can't find ANY error.  It indicates (as I already knew) that hardware acceleration has been turned off.

I tried to run HP softpac "sp31335.exe" to load the version "6.14.10.4396 has ' graphics drivers running on this PC when installing XP.  The softpac ends before doing anything with a message that says "Unsupported OS."  Because softpac graphic drivers are supposed to be 'XPDM"consistent, I suspect they will probably work with Win - 7 (even if they are NOT supported by HP and may have some minor problems).  In any case, I would put a "restore point" and give it a whirl.  What I have to lose, because there is NO data or programs installed on this PC (clean install).  In the worst cases, I just reload Win - 7.

My problem: I can't go to the version "6.14.10.4396 has ' graphics drivers because of Installer softpac (i.e."sp31335.exe").  Is it possible that I can bypass the message 'NOT supported by the OS' and get the graphic drivers to install anyway?

Update: I solved my problem.  Even if HP has structured its executable program SoftPac (sp31335.exe) so that it will not install the version of graphic XPDM driver 6.14.10.4396 on a HP D530 with Windows 7 operating system, Intel made this driver available on its WEB site and is available for download. ZIP format.

During a search, however, I found a newer version of the Intel driver and installed.  The Windows DirectX Diagnostics utility reports NO errors and hardware acceleration has been turned on.  In addition, 96 MB of memory is allocated to graphics.  I ran for a good week with graphics performance at least equal to what was previously done under Windows XP.  Data for this download are the following:

Intel (r) 82865G Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)

    Driver provider: Intel Corporation
    Driver version: 6.14.10.4656
    Driver date: 01/08/2006

    C:\Windows\system32\igxpxa32. VP
    C:\Windows\system32\igxpxk32. VP
    C:\Windows\system32\igxpxs32. VP

Apparently, Intel provided this driver to Microsoft for inclusion on the installation disk of VISTA to 865G family support (and other).  I extracted the following excerpt:

Q3: Intel provides drivers for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (Intel GMA 900) WDDM on platforms based on the Intel 915 Express chipsets?

A3: Intel will provide support for WDDM drivers, starting with the Intel® 945 Express Chipset family and beyond. See question 5 below for a detailed explanation of the WDDM support on platforms based on the Intel® 915 Express chipsets. However, Windows Vista is supported on the Intel® 865 G, 915 G Express desktop PC and 852/855 GM chipsets chipsets mobile running XPDM (XP Display Driver Model) driver included on the Windows Vista install media. Windows Vista will install on these platforms, but advanced features such as Aero in Windows will not be enabled as XPDM drivers do not support Windows AERO.

  • Lack of support for ColdFusion in Dreamweaver

I cannot say enough and will continue to post until someone at Adobe is listening.

That Adobe did was blindly cut grass beneath our feet of support for ColdFusion in Dreamweaver to denigrate. Dreamweaver was the one and only application that I and thousands of others used in the code, design and Web FTP sites for years. Some of us have used Dreamweaver as far as when Allaire has built specifically to help ColdFusion developers. Dreamweaver offers an effective way to FTP the ColdFusion tag support files and a view of the design when necessary.

It seems that Adobe tells us now is that Dreamweaver is not somehow the right application to develop ColdFusion Web sites, but curiously one appropriate for PHP developers. The only reason why I can see that Adobe has stripped for ColdFusion support in Dreamweaver is to sell us CF Builder... which is strangely absent from any creative cloud subscription. Otherwise, there is no real reason to draw the support of ColdFusion in Dreamweaver.

What's more, it will take me and other weeks to learn a new program and that's most of us don't have to waste time. Just follow the browser changes. I am a store a man, as are many who used Dreamweaver, and every minute that we use a new program rather than build websites of learning is lost money. If Adobe is costing us money.

The reality for a lot of developers is that we can barely pay creative cloud subscription fees every month, much less buy a brand new program just because Adobe has forced our hand. I do not understand why Adobe would abandon support for ColdFusion in Dreamweaver when the program worked. Is that the program has been broken and the support ColdFusion tag was causing a problem with the program.

All the Adobe has done is caused ill will to their company and probably many developers out of business, all least loses money when the economy is so tight. Thanks Adobe for nothing.

Relatively easily, you can put the carpet in place. Since you are a CC subscriber, you can revert to a previous version of DW through the creative cloud desktop application...

Open the application of CC desktop

    Click the Apps tab

Scroll through the filters and versions

    Click on previous versions

Download and install an older version of DW

From there, use the older DWCS6 until you have the time and the desire to learn CF Builder or move to another application not Adobe. There is no reason to sit and struggle with the new version of non - CF DW CC, blow the billable hours and miss deadlines because of the training.

As far as I saw, there is no plan to bring any CF support in DW. Plan of Adobe is to move people to the perpetual license CF Builder instead.

  • Service Pack OS supports for the Essbase Server

I'm embarrassed that I don't know the answer to that, however...

A colleague asked if Windows Server 2003 SP2 is supported for Essbase 9.x.

The only reference I can find in the documentation is for Windows Server 2003 SP1.

Please note that I am not asking "is it supported? I'm trying to understand how I'm supposed to 'officially' in the general case, for not asking to Oracle. Am I supposed to assume that if SP1 is listed, SP2 etc will be also supported? If so, this policy is evidence anywhere? Am I just lack the 'fair support matrix '?

    Thank you!

I wrote my last comment as a general comment because I know errors in the documentation. I had a client installation on Oracle Linux 11.1.1.3. Support doc does not list their version of Linux, but is a version that did not even exist. It was necessary to speak to a number of people at Oracle to determine that their operating system has been supported.

  • No support for npapi plugin?

Hi, we use software that is based on JAVA for our clients to access our services. As I read in some news, support for NPAPI plugins will end in the 64-bit version of firefox 41 (so java no longer be supported). This is only version 64-bit windows or Linux and Mac also being targeted? We need this information so that we can tell our customers that we always support the browsers.
    Thanks in advance

Only the start of Firefox Win64 41,0 + version will have only whitelisted Flash Player 64-bit for now.

64 bit versions of Mac OSX and Linux may continue to use other plugins compatible 64-bit in addition to Flash Player.

That the Firefox 42.0 is the current target for Win64 version as was 41.0 previously. The Fx Win64 41.0 b # is based on the beta channel will be affected by the white list.

In moving from XP to Windows 7, I opted for Thunderbird as a mail client in order to circumvent hyper intrusive Windows Live Mail to Microsoft (I used Outlook Express for years).

I have a very complicated E-mail structure, and it took me weeks (seriously) to learn how to reproduce it in TBird. Now, I try to customize TBird more, but none of the TBird articles/forum Q & A / searches on Google to ask my questions.
