  Your LR 3 license is good for LR 3. Your LR 5 license would be good for LR 5 as long as you have a valid previous version (LR3).  Wouldn't work for LR4. So the answer is, you can use LR4 for thirty days as a test and then you will need to provide a valid key of LR4 to continue using it.

  I guess it's been here before, but I couldn't find the info I need.

  I have a catalog of LR4 8 giga (about 300000 images).

  just installed the new LR5 and cat opening I tried the LR4 in LR 5.

  I saw that there is an option to export all my LR4 Catalog under a new catalog and import it into LR5.

  The old catalog Lr4 is perhaps too large. If you have always installed Lr4, try to divide up to several smaller catalogs by selecting 50 000 photos and make the export as catalog to your desktop. LR5 open and using import from catalog to provide one. If it was a success, delete the catalogs from the desktop.

• LR5.7 problem LR6 upgrade installation

  I just downloaded and installed the upgrade (PC) from 5.7 to 6 without any problem.   I downloaded an update of LR5.5 to 5.6 (Windows 64-bit) and by train running 5.6 start-up, the program stopped and gave me a popup stating "invalid key in the specified state. What does that mean? Now I don't see the LR5 program on my computer at all. How do I return 5 Lightroom?

  I think it's related to this update that seems to affect the MSI installer on some systems (KB2918614)

  See this thread and uninstall the individual update and it should then install: 5.6 Installation fails "object already exists"

  I hope that Adobe can revisit this issue.

  You must install LR5 (it does not replace the previous version, it's a separate program). Once installed, launch it, enter your serial number, and it should detect your existing catalog in LR3 and offer to upgrade (that it will be creating a separate copy of upgrade, your current catalog LR3 remains and can still be opened in LR3 if you wish).

  I tried this morning to determine what the problem is. I upgraded LR 4from the Adobe with LR5.4 website, I turned off my computer and restarted. When I opened 5.4 (I know I open this one) I always get the same mounting as for 4 boards. All new features are not yet present. I imported my library from 4, during the installation process when the guest came. What is going on? How should I do?

  The photos that have been addressed in previous versions of open process in Lightroom 5 with the cursors of previous versions of process.

  In the develop module, select a photo, and then click Settings-> process of-> 2012 (attention: this may cause the appearance of the photo to change)

  newly imported photos should show the new process with the new sliders (unless you have an active preset that prevents this)

  I help on behalf of my friend to ask for your help.

  The lightroom runs on Windows 8 64 bit, recently upgraded to 5.4 and encounter a problem.

  All the file photo (by date) less 1 directory, e.g. D:\My pictures\, list and has 1600 + folders in "My pictures" without another group by year.

  I took his catalog (for backup) before starting level (5.3) and able to answer the question in LR5.4

  (1) open the catalog

  (2) add new folders 1 by 1

  (3) the last some files may not open when you click on it, a vertical line would have shown from the top of the screen to where I click (as indicated in the attachment)

  (4) I tried to add the new folder to any combination, and the question that happened "randomly" and not could not solve clues.

  Guessing just wild... it will be through the provision of case 'flat structure', people affected by the same?  The problem did not exist in LR5.3

  

  It's easy enough to do in the files Panel (do not try to do outside of Lightroom!):

  Just add a folder of the year under the parent folder, e.g. 2014. Then, click on the first record of 2014 to date in the list, and ctrl-click on the last, then drag and drop on this new folder in 2014. Repeat for the other years.

  If you are real careful, especially when slide it / drop, it's a very quick job.

• LR3 LR5 update and future transition from PC to Mac.

  Hi, I currently have LR3 and I'm going to buy a new version of the student of the LR5 (so not an upgrade).  I should know about the transfer over my catalogs? When it is safe to remove the LR3 version, so I don't lose catalog in LR3?

  In addition, I am currently using a PC, but in the future, I want to spend on a Mac.  It is my understanding that if I buy the LR5 now, I can download at 2 computers.  These downloads expire?  If I now download to my PC now, can I then use 2nd download for MAC IE, a year?

  Insofar as transfer catalogues go, your best bet to get answers is probably to ask in the forum Lightroom (http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom).  The people there are more recently have hands on knowledge of this catalogue.

  The downloads do not expire if they could not always easily available from the Adobe site (there is another site).  Currently, however, Lightroom is one of the few applications that Adobe keeps links to download older versions.

  You can download any number of machines, but you are allowed to have the software enabled on both machines.  You can deactivate and activate properly, so if you want one year, you can install and activate on another computer.

• Can I install LR5 upgrade on 2 computers?

  You are allowed to have two active installations of the software, so you can install it on both machines.  You will need to provide the serial number of the original version of qualification (you say that's LR2).

  I LR4 on my IMac and bought LR5 disk upgrade, but the computer will not read the disc. Disk is correct, as I uprageded successfully on Macbook pro. I got LR5b on Imac but poured this program in the trash, thinking that there may be a conflict.

  Copy the installation on an external hard disk drive or usb files and use the reader on your imac.  or if you follow the 7 steps you can dl a free trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/lightroom-5-ddl-comparison-vs-lr4.html

  and activate it with your serial number.

  If you have a problem dl'g, you don't follow all 7 steps.  the most common mistake is not meticulously follow the steps 1, 2, and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system, allowing you to download the correct version of the adobe.com site).

• LR5 import problem: Photos do not show in the import window

  When you try to import CR2/JPEG files in LR5, import window shows empty records even though I can see the files in windows Explorer.  I also importing them from different places (from the camera, memory card, hard drive) and is always in white.  The kicker is I can open / import them by canon DPP and LR 4.4.

  Here are the details of my system:

  • Tested on Windows 7 64 bit
  • Administrative account running without any permission problem
  • I have uninstalled/installed LR5 several times that does not solve the problem
  • I tried to import a upgrade to my existing LR4.4 catalog and also with a new catalog.

  I created a video that captures my normal workflow.  As you can see, LR5 can not see one (CR2 and JPG) pictures of the card memory or hard drive but LR4.4 can see both of them without any problem.  Any help would be great.

  I'm not very familiar with the Mac fonts. When you say that you have selected 'Times' do you mean that the full name is "Times"? You have better luck with "Times New Roman"?

  When I turn on the laptop after mounting of the modules to all first all seem to be right and the Bios start, but then it will not load windows and stucks on a black screen.

  The RAM modules aren t fully compatible or they malfunction.
  You must use other modules I made good experiences with modules from Kingston.
