M200 intermittent delay mousepointer / performance

My M200 has always suffered from intermittent mousepointer behind, usually when opening a file or browse the files in windows Explorer. MousePointer simply stops responding for a few seconds. What is a standard problem with the M200? I never saw him on any laptop.

Any ideas on how to make it work smoothly (not necessarily faster, just more reliable)?

Hi Richard

It is not easy to tell what can be the problem, but I think that it is not any kind of standard issue. It will be interesting to know if this happened always or just at the time when processor work under full power. You sometimes use an external mouse?

If you want you can try to uninstall the mouse in Device Manager and restart the laptop and let them detect mouse even once. I don't know if that can improve things, but you can try it.

In 30 years of developing LabVIEW I saw such a strange problem.    Maybe someone can help out me.

    Here's the problem:

    • The executable has the critical loop "subroutine" that injects data REVIEWS, if there is more than a 100ms delay.
    • The subroutine is not reentrant, because it is the only case used throughout the program.
    • I placed the time markers in the loop of the subroutine which tell me exactly where in the code the delay occurred.  In most but not all cases, that the delay occurs at the 'WAIT MS' or 'WAIT until the NEXT MS MULTIPLE', I tried them both, and they both have the same intermittent problem.
    • What gets me, is that the executables that are run independently of each other are logging the delay at EXACTLY the same moment.    This leads me to believe that it is a question of operating system.  Or a problem that the two executables have when competing for time to critical system resources.
    • This problem of intermittent delay occurs on other computers and on windows XP
    • The large delay occurs even when there is only one executable file running.
    • This problem is particularly bad , when the user resizes or drag the window to the executable.
    • If the system is left alone, the problem of > 1000 ms delay can happen only once or twice a day.

  • Performance of the Oracle

    Hi friends,

    10.2.0.4.0 on Linux

    Background:
We have the database running on the OS cluster.
Before the performance of the server on the server issue has Cpu spiked to 100% used. Custom top found some applications (small applications in general, what race in daily batches) were cpu 100% used and the same queries in AWR. For this reason, the database switched to Server B, the queries executed as correctly without problem.
Server A and B are clustered BONES and using the same hard drive memory.

After restarting the server/failover, the daily batch runs successfully without any problems for a few days (about 6 to 10 days). The 11th batch runs very slowly.

We try to find the solution,
Now, we are not suspecting the question is next to the Oracle. The problem may be with the side OS/hardware.

All the suggesitions/help will be appreciated.

    KSG

    No, it is not necessary.

The AWR report you posted was for a period of 9 hours, right? It shows CPU DB = 55 000 seconds. 9 hours = 32 400 seconds. For example, the database was using (on average) just 1.5 CPU on 16. I.e. average usage of the CPU by the database was only 10% (and total usage of CPU on the server, as I said earlier, was about 40%, i.e. the database is not yet the main consumer of CPU on the box).

So based on what I'm leaning to the version that the CPU problem you mentioned was not true. Most likely, you simply misread some of the CPU numbers in reports (like CPU DB = 91%, which could be confusing). To avoid such confusion, I recommend that you go through my blog on the interpretation of the figures of the AWR CPU: reports AWR: interpret the CPU usage | Diagnostician Oracle

If you leave this part of your account of the event, we have an intermittent problem of performance with a batch. As Jonathan said, SQL plan regression is the most likely explanation of that. If you have the License Pack Tuning and Diagnostic tests, then you can easily diagnose these problems using view ASH (not ASH report), especially if you instrument your code work properly batch:

    (1) in your batch, call dbms_session.set_identifier ()

    (2) once the task is completed, check out the SQL which took as long:

    Select sql_id, count (*) / 10 elapsed_seconds

    from the ashes of dba_hist_active_sess_history

    where client_id =: client_id_you_set_above

    and sample_time between: job_start_time and: job_finish_time

    Group of sql_id

    order of count (*) desc;

    (3) check the hash value of the plan for this SQL query:

    Select begin_interval_time time, plan_hash_value

    of dba_hist_snapshot sn.

    St dba_hist_sqlstat

    where sn.snap_id = st.snap_id

    and sql_id =: sql_id_found_above

    begin_interval_time desc order

In order to meet intermittent bad database performance DBA suggested using bind variable but as tool uses literals, should define CURSOR_SHARING base on data of FORCE (or SIMILAR)

Sometimes can have 20 or if users run similar reports just available parameters.

Different opinions as to whether this performance a big deal or make things worse.

Generally, it is likely to be a bad idea for a data warehouse; But if administrators see a problem because the same report is called with the changes made to the settings so you can be in a case of niche of the problem I described in this blog post: https://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2014/12/09/parse-time-2/

The type of query that I used against v$ active_session_history in this note blog should give you an idea of the question if you have the same problem - you need to refine the report query in a group time the sql_id, the event and the in_parse, in_hard_parse flags to see how much a problem you could get of what SQL statements.

  • Double post of form data in Eloqua and SFDC

Our SFDC admin wants to move to display all form both Eloqua and SFDC data, and to make the list of all imports in SFDC. His team has already found the 3rd party systems to counter problems of duplication in SFDC de-duplication. As Eloqua user, I find the process of taking a step backwards in our marketing automation process. Any of you have experience with dual signage? Reasons for or against it?

Although it is possible with a re-post form I would advise against. I had similar discussions where people are not familiar with the benefits of an integrated between Eloqua and SFDC flow.

The biggest limitation for me is that Web-to-lead in SFDC cannot accept as 500 prospects in a 24 hour period (out of the box he used to 500 per day, you can increase but at a cost)

I would try to understand the concerns importance than what does Eloqua is just a call API with SFDC (pretty standard stuff and more robust than the Web-to-lead). Looks like they care about duplicates. Watching the process today - are you creating a new every delay of performance, or you are only creating a lead when a contact does not exist (this will reduce dupes, but can give you others challenges in terms of visibility of these contacts - depends on the appearance of your sales team in call lists.) If they use only lead views, could be a problem).

List of imports - this should be good. Many SFDC admins using tools such as PeopleImport to handle the loads list and can manage settings to avoid duplication, do not create a lead when a contact already exists, etc.

  • Trying to explain why a VM doesn't necessarily 2 CPUs

    Good Morning-

I am scheduled to meet with a few application owners who are looking for an explanation as to why we're pushing to deploy virtual machines with a processor instead of two in most cases. at least unti we can demonstrate through 2 processors are guaranteed of performance monitoring.

Can anyone provide some simple information (or links to these) that would help me to explain (and ultimately compelling) these application owners that it is really better in most cases to use a vcpu instead of two?

    Thank you very much

    Steve

Yes, physical machines has exclusive access to the material from the level of the program.  A Virtual Machine, ALL virtual machines share the same visor hyper.  It's a traffic COP.  Because inside a virtual machine programs do not access access the material at the level of the ESX host, they see only the CPU, which represents a slice of time.

VM must have all available resources at the same time to qualify for a slice of time, so the cycles CPU are not ready (for CPU 2 at a time) then the VM must wait.  This expectation was source of delays, delays cause performance problems.

I'm sure you can see where it's easier to schedule 1 CPU it's 2.  And this is compounded by the more VM with 2 or more CPU on an ESX host, ALL competing for the same resource with make it even worse.

It is not bad in itself, it is just as you say he has not justified that VM (especially Windows) will actually reach an advantage of 2 CPU in a virtual machine.  GOING Linux, Windows usually does not work.

Test will be to prove or disprove this.  In my tests, I can't see ANY advantage for Windows, and since produced normally intensive as Oracle and SQL using the multi-CPU would get a performance boost, and they do not increase, I see no reason to waste a CPU for a few extra CPU cycles.

If you have 1 CPU and you get 100 cycles lets say, by adding a second processor that is expected to double, right?  It should at least be important.   If I add a second vCPU in a VM and it only increased by 10 cycles, it's 10% increase.  Costs and extra CPU and stress on the ESX host is not worth a 10% bump in a virtual machine.  10 VM is duplicate of an ESX host cycles that could be used for other virtual machines, and in turn they increase only in performance by a fraction of the increase, which for me is a waste.

This is why I do not.  However, I will say that ESX 4.0 improves this a bit, so if you move your user community to ESX 4.0 will reap rewards for multi CPU.

  • calculate the number of minutes

    Hello citizens of oracle,

I have a situation where I have to calculate the number of minutes took to run the package. I've seen proc_log that will give me proc_name (give me the name of the proc), START_DT (which gives the time when the process began exactly) and EXEC_TIME (gives having plenty of time each process taken in minutes and seconds). So I need to make the sum of the column EXEC_TIME. Please help me how to do this.

    Thanks for the help.

    Sam

So, how do you intend to group on a varchar2 column? Can you change the view to the EXEC_TIME in an interval instead? Is even more logical design-wise.

Please post some examples of data so I can get an idea of the format for the varchar2 column.  Want to most likely to convert it to an interval to summarize time exec, or converting varchar2 int to exec_time in a few seconds, then convert minutes to maintain granularity.

NM, I see here the format, you are def going to need to set this view if you want to match the runtime.

You are with your format makes it incredibly hard perform such an easy task. Change this EXEC_TIME column in the view to an int of total of seconds or milliseconds of delay of performance or do this column, an INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND data type. Once you do this, you can do a 'SELECT sum (exec_time) FROM WHERE XX... »

    10.2.0.3

I have an OLTP table and a matte view to fast refresh of the table in the warehouse. I have unique indexes on the matte view just as I have on the OLTP table. Of course, it's a bad idea because the updating Oracle on mattress views mechanism does not apply to the dml in the same order that it occurred on the side of OLTP? Should I get rid of all the unique indexes on views mattress in my warehouse and create regular index because of their unique nature will just happen because the side OLTP has a unique index? I think that this problem is resolved... Unless someone has something else to add. I have not tried yet... But it seems to be valid. I did a test and a unique constraint can be delayed in fact creates a non-unique index. So I need to remove my unique index on my matte view and create unique constraints can be delayed.

    Or...

forget the unqiue part and simply change the indexes not unique because the main table has a unique index and guarantees uniqueness for me and the matte view will simply copy whats in the main table.

    Mark,

the solution seems reasonable. Just a note: If you use a "reportable" unique constraint Oracle ignores any attempt to perform a direct-path insert of access and still stations conventional insert generating undo and many more again.

As long as you do only a 'rapid' refresh, it should not matter, but in case you deal with refreshs full large MVs, this could make a difference when running not atomic refreshs (who can take advantage of the direct-path inserts / DML etc. at the same time)...

Then you can consider using only non-unique index rather than the constraint may be delayed if performance can matter and given the fact that you should never see duplicates in the MV because of the constraint on the base table.

Furthermore, you can use a non-unique index to apply a not reportable unique/primary key constraint as well, it is supported. You just need to create the index yourself before you set the constraint or using explicit syntax "CREATE INDEX" of the constraint clause.

For more information, I wrote a note on this problem "may be deferred" some time ago:

    Hello

When my M200 operates on batteries, most of the time that I connect the cold start system that I have to wait for about two minutes after the connection. Open the Task Manager learns that the CPU is idle, hard drive is not used, only some of the process loading. the system seems to just wait for something. Other programs that the task manager can not be opened.

At the time the delay occurs in the system section of the event log, the following error messages are recorded:

. "Silent Running: Stress test transition: Dynamic-> Performance 3D", "nv", service event_ID: 106
. "Silent Running: Stress test transition: 3D-> LowPower 3D performance", "nv", service event_ID: 106

NV seems to be NVIDIA, but reinstall the display driver has not changed a bit. When the system is running on the current, the problem has never occurred.

What happens here & how solve it?

Thank you for everything good suggestion.

in my opinion, it is for energy savings because the graphics chip is an Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5200 for laptops. The chip is managed by energy saving and can be assigned to different modes.

I'm looking for in the internet about these error messages and foud something. All the reviews I had read said that only an event log entry that is not serious. There are more similar expressions for other events.

  • Problem with the listening Service: Long delay beginning listener, intermittent connections

I have problems to connect to my Oracle database.  I don't know what was the cause, but now when I connect to a database that has been working well for the past two years, I usually get an ORA-12541 error.

I run lsnrctl status on the server and get a prinout like this:

I also tried to manually stop the service through services.msc, then by restarting via lsnrctl start, but when I do this I get a very long delay (10 + minutes) before he comes back with something like:

I'm quite lost as to what is wrong.  I've been messing around with listener.ora, but I don't see anything difficult in there.  Here's a copy:

A few times during that time, I was able to connect to the server, via sqlplus, however, it took 10 minutes before the connection is online.  Once I'm connected, I can ask my paintings as expected, but I need an application to connect.

If anyone has any ideas on what could be the problem, please let me know.

In fact, there was another thing, I changed when I finally got it works, although I don't know if it was related or not.  In my folder with my track logs, I had a huge (> 4 GB) listener.log file.  I deleted this file right before that I ran the command netsh command to reset and then restarted.  This file was also a bit special, because it had not been updated since around the time that I first encountered this problem.  It seems to be updated on a minute by minute basis, now that I've removed the old.  Is there a problem with this file becomes too big?  My drive was not out of space, but it is very curious that this stopped file update on the same day as when I started having the problem and now works properly again.  I wish I had noted the exact time until I deleted it.
