M2N78 - Upgrade (Violet6)

I wanted to spend my dual core to a quad core, well it's hard to find one for this motherboard, but I was interested by the phenom II X 4 960 t. which is am3 as my Board claims and it meets the requirements of power which is 95w tdp max but the part of the confusion is that it is not on the motherboard plug... Is no already from the Model T, only the 900th models are listed, but it is the 900 series, he meets the requirements, so I call hp and ask them and of coarse they read the same sheet, I read and said no or maybe, not for sure and suggested maybe ask AMD well I call AMD and they say that it is compatible with this motherboard that I should take the chance and buy the processor?

Wrsj77, this is a forum for helping hand in hand.  Therefore, the information we provide is based on our knowledge, do not respond to HP.  That said, I don't think that any of the AM3 / he's phenon processors will work.  Also, if you change the motherboard, the recovery disks will not work.  This is because the advice of HP are tattooed with the main components of the system.  Records to look for this information before proceeding with the recovery.  You would have to buy a full version of Windows.  You don't have the software with added value, either.

When a help request, you must always include the brand / model of the computer or the monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications for them.  This is for future use.

    I scoured Internet only to find no real solution for my problem.  My computer will only start in the HP splash screen. When executing the key F9 Diagnostics appeared an error: BIOHD-2 error code.  This code means something different depending on who you ask or when you get your information. I replaced the HD, results end up the same way - Splash Screen only. I tried to buy a recovery CD since I do not think to make one and was informed by HP that the disk was no longer available, because my PC is more than 6 years old.  I would appreciate some advice on how to move forward with my computer or if someone could tell me where I could buy a recovery CD.

    Hello:

    I think that you would raise a lot of money after bad by Purchasing recovery disks.

    Yes, normally the BIOHD-2 error means that the hard drive has failed, but in your model that has card mother Violet6-GL8E, this means that the drive controller on the motherboard has failed.

    Must be a very common problem, because there are dozens of members of the forum who have HP PC with this motherboard model.

    You can do a search in the forum keywords: M2N78-(Violet6) and find all the tales of woe.

    To resolve the problem, you will need to replace the motherboard.

    A few people tried to buy a disk controller sata PCI-e x 1 hard, but I don't think anyone got those to work.

    If you decide to replace the motherboard (which I don't recommend) and wish to purchase recovery discs, you can still get this provider no HP.

  • Compatibility of proc error

    I currently have a desktop computer HP P6404y with a Phenom II X 4 820 running Windows 7 64 bit Edition home premium.

    My system was either not boot the operating system when I try and run a game or sit on it too long and have several things open the system will crash. I ran a diagnostic on the system and the hardware/software is says Core 2-3-4 of my proc lost symmetry, which explains why it stops randomly.

    I checked the specifications of the motherboard (M2N78 - THE Violet6) and it has a socket AM3 and is supported by the Phenom II X 4 9XX series processor. I bought a Phenom II X 4 965, which is a compatible AM3 processor, but when I put it in I immediately get an error saying the processor is not compatible. I called AMD and they confirmed that it should work, but there is a certain type of thing with the BIOS that allows to not work and they thought that HP had a fix. I couldn't find something that helps me this online and I have upgraded the BIOS to 5.16, but I did Exchange yet because I don't see anything in the update that said fixed compatibility.

    I called HP and they said apparently they have fertile procs that you can get through them, which makes no sense to me, but if it's true it's true I guess that.

    Is it possible that I can get the proc that I have to work with this computer? Thanks in advance.

    Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion p6404y desktop computer and its card mother M2N78-(Violet6). According to the specifications, the following processors are supported;

    This motherboard supports only the AM3 processors

    AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)

    AMD Phenom II X 3 Triple-Core (Heka) 7xx/7xxe

    AMD Phenom II X 2 5xx (Callisto)

    AMD Athlon II X 4 6xx/6xxe (undactylopodite)

    AMD Athlon II X 3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)

    AMD Athlon II X 2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)

    At the same time, I think the specs, said a maximum TDP of 95 watts but I could be wrong. In this case the maximum TDP would probably 125 watts. Based on the site Web of AMD, there are only two AMD Phenom II X 4 965 CPU. One is rated at 125 watts and the other is 140 Watts. Both are 'Black Edition' CPU, which means they have an unlocked clock multiplier and are designed to be overclocked. Very little HP computers have options overclocking and yours is not one of them.

    The AMD Phenom II X 4 965 CPU is probably incompatible with your computer p6404y HP because of that;

    (a) it exceeds the maximum. PDT to the motherboard

    and / or

    (b) there is a "Black Edition" CPU

    Please consider buying one of these 95 watt AMD Phenom II X 4 processors compatibility assured.

  • Pavilion A4316F Desktop with M2N78-(Violet6) card mother CPU Upgrade

    I looked at the HP Site before making the CPU to upgrade to purchase (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01925562) my office.  I bought an AMD Phenom II x 4 processor clocked at 3.4 Ghz.  When I installed the CPU and try to start, I have a unknown, computer processor stop error.  From what I can tell on the HP site, this processor should work with this motherboard.  Any suggestions?

    Please provide the role other than whole or number of the plateau of the AMD processor for our review. Only 3.4 Ghz AMD Phenom II x 4 processors I know are the 125 watts Note: AMD Phenom II x 4 965 Black Edition and the140 watts Note: AMD Phenom II x 4 965 Black Edition. None of these processors are compatible with the Violet6 motherboard in your system. The card mother Violet6 is intended to be used with processors up to 95 watts. In addition, "Black Edition" CPUs have discovered clock multipliers to be used in overclocking, but does not support the Violet6 overclocking motherboard.

    Please consider these 95 watt AMD AM3 processors except CPU 'Phenom II X 6' and processors ' B #

    I later learned that the 9850 Quad Core has been made to the 125 watts instead of the 95. Is this the reason why it is not compatible with my system? If anyone knows upgrades processor of success for this advice, please let me know.

    Hello

    It is very possible that HP has published false information.  The original processor for your PC has a TDP of 95 watts and is the card mother socket AM2 +.

    All these AMD processors are embedded for AM2 + with a TDP of 95 watts.  Remember that you have the latest version of the bios installed on your PC.

    Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion p6310f desktop and it is card mother M2N78-(Violet6). According to specifications, your computer will support the following improvements;

    CPU / processor;

    Max TDP = 95 Watts

    This motherboard only supports AM3 processors.

    Supported memory is limited to DDR3 modules only.

    HyperTransport 3.0

    AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)

    DIMM / memory;

    Four DDR3 DIMM sockets (240 pin)

    DIMM types supported: PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066) PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) or

    Non - ECC, unbuffered single memory

    Supports 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB DDR3 DIMMS

    Dual channel memory architecture

    Power supply;

    All ATX12V v2.3 power supply about the same size as your original factory supply. The rated power is really depends on the requirements of the graphic card installed on the computer. In general, the Corsair CX500, or CX600 are highly recommended and known to fit most HP consumer. It seems that Corsair has recently expanded the range of CX to include some modular power supplies.

    Graphics card;

    Almost any PCIe x 16 v2.0, v2.1 and v3.0 should work on your computer. The games current and/or futures contracts, you intend to play will determine what graphics card, you must install. As you like it is a "gaming platform", I would use a Nvidia GTX 550 Ti, GTX 650 Ti, or more... or an AMD Radeon HD 6770, AMD Radeon 7770 or higher.

    If you really want to use a new case not HP and the water cooling, I wouldn't bother upgrading your HP p6310f. Instead, I'd build a new system of measurement from the ground upward. This will allow you to use the latest available technology.

    Many positions, there is a common factor, the mother of Violet M2N78 - LA infamous.

    If you have a plus BIOS version 5.14, you will have this problem (according to my research).

    It started with BIOS 5.16 and other BIOS updates have published this bug.

    Many messages of this referenced forum that users had updated their BIOS. After this upgrade, the CPU fan began cycling up and down repeatedly. Same expert people told me that I could have problems because of my matherboard and bios (I've never updated), is this true?

    @antonmartino,

    Hi again.  Just below the section for memory you'll find.  What you can do is take existing specifications and the specifications of the motherboard and see what card maximum that you can put in the slot.  The only thing you want to look at is what is the power required by the new map you found and if the power supply has enough power to stay with her horse.  If you talk to any place of the computer with the specifications of this page, that I gave you, they can give you the best option.  What I do is take the listed specifications of the card and match the cards, in that you are looking to put.  Check to see if it's the same dwelling and look to see if they require the same requirement for voltage and they should work perfectly.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

    ' 1. the Corsair GS600W is 5.9 "x 3.4" x 6.3"and 6.3" can be a bit long. Hello karen445, here is the link for the specifications of your system.

    Here is a link that can provide some information about this model of video card.

    It seems they recommend at least a 500 Watt power supply. The Corsair 550 would support their recommendation.

    The only problem that can occur is the length of this card. These high-end cards are quite long and may not fit inside your case. You can measure from the end of your business where the video card needs to be installed at the front of the case at the end of which would be installed and see if you have enough room for this video card card.

    As many providers offer this card, some may have this model which is shorter than others.

    You should also be aware of the increase in the heat generated by the video card and the power of higher capacity.

    It may be necessary to add an another case fan to remove this extra heat. I suggest the warmth of surveillance and know if a fan for extra cooling is necessary.
