  You don't want to think in terms of migration when it comes to Adobe software.  You must install using installation files.  There is no need to have installed CS5 unless you plan to use it.  There is no way to upgrade of CS5 at CC, there is a reduced plan should soon be interrupted.  You get the first annual subscription for almost half of the normal price.

  Your post is the 4th now ask about the same problem. One user solves the problem by connecting the phone to a different USB port on the computer. You might want to try it.

  If you value your data, you need to be backup on a regular basis, what would you do if your computer has been stolen or if the hard drive suddenly gone wrong?   I bought the full version before the expiry of the 'free' version I had received before the expiry date, which had a box of activation click on a popup.  I have had no problems to download the upgrade, everything worked well until the date has passed for the free version, is I was not in need of my computer this day.  So the next time I started the windows vista that it froze right now that I moved the mouse box avg telling me my free trial has expired.  That's all!   Have you loaded the proper drivers, firmware or software for the external drive and your version of Vista?  He can't just plug-and-play, especially if this isn't original USB key but a convert.
