Mac Mini Ram problem

Hello

I just replaced the hard drive in my Mini 2011 Mid and during reassembly of the Mini and reinstall the RAM modules, the top was hard to seat. When I got the upper module in it makes a sort of "Bully" of noise (metal grid sound). At the start, I had the three beep to tell there is a problem of RAM card. I took the modules and re-sitting them, top of page gross sounding again. Same three beeps.

I then took the upper module and has attempted to restart the machine - it booted up OK.

What happened here? I destroyed the motherboard? Is this a known issue? Any thoughts appreciated.

Inspect the contacts on the memory that went into the top slot. Inspect the top slot anomalies such as curved plastic and bent or corroded contacts.

Other users have damaged locations when replacing memory. Can be caused by does not receive the baton in properly and forcing, debris got into the slot or on the key and he was forced in.

I think that now the slot is damaged. and yo either have to replace the logic board or only a slot to use.

  • Can I use ram newest and fastest of the new iMac in 2009 Mac Mini?

I just got a new iMac 27 "2015 5K.  I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB to 32 GB of ram.  I have now 2 4 GB SODIMM to spare.

Does anyone know if the ram works in a Mini of Man 2009 (although the speed of the mini bus)?

    New ram specifications:

    Mac mini ram Specs:

Yesterday (June 11, 2016) I talked about Apple Support via their phone an overheating problem, I lived with my Mac Min 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.  I have described the symptoms and asked if Apple had problems of heating with the Mac Mini. Their 'expert', said that they had not.  It helped me to run a program of self-diagnostics of material that showed no problems.  (Off, press and hold the "D" key and then turn on the Mac Mini, while pressing the down D until the diagnostic routine displays.) No problems have been found and my machine has not overheated since.  But I learned by following a search that there had been several previous Mac Mini heating problems and Apple was aware that a lot of their products and have experienced similar problems in the past.

Some users have problems and do not see a lot of these problems here. It what Apple said is true; There is no real history of such problems.

  • Mac Mini end of 2014 vs SSD Ram

Hey guys, I just bought the Mac Mini end of 2014. Maybe I should blame myself for not doing some research that I have a model end of 2012 before that. I used to increase the ram myself whenever I need it, it was easy-peasy. So I bought the 2014 version, thinking that it will be the same. But no, the ram is welded on and there is no way that I can upgrade. The mac was bought to an APR, his return is not possible according to the policy of the store.

I understand that if the RAM is not enough, the operating system will use hard disk space instead. So what I intend is to upgrade the HDD to the SSD, I have made the my previous Mac Mini. Just so that it allows to speed up the process and minimize the crash.

Question, this will help solve the problem of ram? Nor can do anything and that's it?

Yes a SSD will improve performance, and partially make up for not enough RAM. However, how well that depends on what applications run you. Some applications are memory intensive and may not show as much improvement

  • Can I also use RAM from a mac mini in 2012 in an iMac 2010?

    Hello

I recently updated the RAM in a mac mini 'end 2012' a member of the family of 2 x 4 GB 2 x 8 GB, which means that I now have two spare 4 GB modules.  I also got an iMac 27 "older, (mid-2010), which has 4 x 2 GB RAM modules.

Can I replace two 2 GB modules in the iMac with two 4 GB of the mac mini modules to increase his performance a bit?  (it is no longer my main machine, but I still use it, and it's not like I'm going to do a lot for the minis ex modules on eBay!)

Looking at the specifications, the 2010 need PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SDRAM mac 204-pin SO-DIMM, while ex-mac mini modules are PC3-12800 (1600 MHz), 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM.  It seems to me like the mac mini modules can roll at a faster rate as the needs of the iMac, but on the assumption that surpassing the requirements can be a problem, they won't work?   Would be risking damage (to the iMac or modules) if I gave them a try? In other words, what is the worst that can happen?

    Any experience/advice welcome!

    Richard.

Hard to say, but using RAM that differs from the form is always a gamble. RAM rated faster than necessary can work. You can judge them. If there is a problem, that you will be alerted by the operating system no doubt when you try to start.

To avoid any problems with the RAM does not. He will not or should not damage the computer.

  • Mac Pro RAM, Audio, Bluetooth mouse problems

I recently bought an Apple factory refurbished Mac Pro (end 2013) and replaced the three-chip RAM of 4 GB with 16 GB of Crucial two chips. Everything was great for the first two weeks. Then I started having a strange audio problem. Audio would become suddenly agitated. I disconnected and reconnected the speaker output and it would start working again. Finally, unplug the unit and plug the unit has stopped working (audio would eventually just stop working completely... zero sound with or without the speaker plugged in...) and I had to restart the computer.

Then one day I noticed that only 16 GB of RAM showed up (I run own memory, so he's in my toolbar). I opened the machine and moved the two chips on the other side and when I rebooted, I got 32GB again.

Then I noticed that when the audio problem came once again (he seems to be after the computer has been for a few hours or more) my Apple bluetooth mouse would disconnect and reconnect intermittently... ONLY when the audio starts to get restless again.

I zapped the PRAM several times and now I get the 32 GB of RAM only after disconnecting the chips and MOVING them to another location, but not all the time. The audio port will begin to spoil, I reboot and I'm back to 16 GB.

So, is it bad RAM? I removed a single chip and the audio problem still happens.

Anyone have this problem? Apple Care suggested I bring it in the Apple Store, but I thought that I ask here before go this road, just in case there is a known issue.

    Thank you!!

    Rick...

  • Removing and installing the RAM several times can affect to my Mac Mini?

My little brother back RAM on my Mac Mini many times; but it remove the RAM properly and install it correctly

Removing and installing the RAM may affect to my Mac Mini?

    Mac Mini (late 2012)

    OS X 10.11.5

No, it should not affect the machine when the withdrawal/re-installing memory - correctly.

My second thought about this - why it has removed/re-installed memory several times?  Trying to upgrade the drive?  change a component any?  repair?

Materials only I 'played' were - SSD, adding second HARD drive disk with data doubling cable, insulating modular wifi/bluetooth, etc. and of course, the upgrade memory.  Once they did that, I got very little intention of reopening the mini - except air jet, clean the fan.
