Machine Check Exception / blue screen

I am running Windows XP, SP3.

Recently, I experienced start-up problems. Occasionally, I get a blue screen:

0X0000009C Machine_Check_Exception (0 x 00000004, 0X80546EF0, 0XB2000000, 0X00070F0F)

I'm assuming that a hardware problem can be to spoil my boot process. This blue screen message indicates what in particular is causing the problem?

Kind regards... John

ZigZag3143 has the most experience BSOD to find here and I have nothing in my notes on that one, which means that I've never had to understand before.

People on the wide Wide World of the Web seem to agree that it is some kind of hardware problem and with some of these mistakes, it isn't going to be a crash dump file if the CPU gets into such a funk that he just current quites of execution.  He can't write the dump file - it's just going to lock up and stop running.

Other references indicate that there is no crash dump with this error.

For example, systems with heat problems do not generate a crash dump file - the CPU enters a thermal event and it just turned off the system so no more damage and it's not going to be a crash dump file, but you may have a thermal event.

Many theories of the cause and most unlikely, but it would not hurt to test your RAM (it will probably pass, but at least you can say you did) and other people suggest a deficient diet or a new material has been added which contributes to the problem, or some hardware puff like a CD/DVD drive.  I couldn't find something where someone has the eureka moment with this error.

You recently said you have had this problem, so can you think of anything whether material wise who might have changed?
You have an external unit any which may temporarily disconnect when there is a problem starting to see if things work better when they are disconnected?
If the system is a desktop computer, you can temporarily disconnect things like your CD/DVD drive.

I think it might be a process of elimination...  Power supplies are not too expensive to today and need me more time to pick one he made to replace one.

If you want to test your RAM, here are a few ideas:

Run a test on your RAM with memtest86 + (I know it's annoying and will cost you a CD).

Memtest86 + is a version more up to date of the old program memtest86 and they are not the same.

The memtest86 + does not work under Windows, you will need to download the ISO file, create a bootable CD, boot on it and then run memtest86 +.

If even a single error is reported is a failure and you do suspect of your RAM.

If you have several sticks of RAM, you may need to run the test on them one at the time and change them out to isolate the particular omission of a single stick.

Always keep at least the first Bank of occupied RAM so the test will find something to do and simply restart your system.

Sometimes reinstalling the RAM in slots will relieve the error, but a failure is always cause for suspicion.

The file and complete instructions on using a USB or CD drive are here:

http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/105647-RAM-test-Memtest86.html

or here:
http://www.memtest.org/
Here is a link that shows that you create and use the CD memtest86 +:

http://www.GeeksToGo.com/Forum/Guide-to-using-Memtest86-t246994.html

If someone says to run memtest86, you can tell them to go sand paper and that you know memtest86 + replaces memtest86 and here's why:

http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Memtest86

Microsoft also has a test tool used to run out of memory, but there is a copy on my SkyDrive:

This 'tool' is MIA from Microsoft for some time but there's a copy on my SkyDrive, you can download (mtinst.exe).

I downloaded a copy of the Test utility of Windows memory on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, save it to your desktop, launch (double-click on it) and follow the instructions.

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:

https://SkyDrive.live.com/?CID=6a7e789cab1d6f39&ID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you can not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, your browser is unable to save the file with an extension (by example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called mtinst when the name of the file should really be called mtinst.exe (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

Double-click mtinst.exe to start it and follow the instructions.

First of all, you need to upgrade to win 8.1 as in itself, it may solve the problem

For about 3 weeks, my Vista 64-bit machine has started meeting with a BSOD. I met four accidents in 3 weeks. However, this does not happen very often as a point, I went a week and a half without crashing. I ran MemTest86 + for 12 hours, with 10 passes completed without error reported.

    Hello

    There DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: VISTA_DRIVER_FAULT mentioned.
Maybe the BSOD appears due to some problems with some Vista drivers.

It's really hard to say what's going wrong here.
Have you tried to recover the laptop to check if the BSOD would appear again
    Maybe you should do this.

  • laptop blue screening guard

I'm running win7 and from time to time I get the blue screen, it was shut off too quick to intercept the error on blue screen, but rather those that I managed to get was STOP: 0 x 00000124 (0x00000000, 0x860e9024, 0xe2000040, 0 x 00000800

I had my graphics card with some problems with appear as unable to begin that I managed to put down to the outdated driver, I installed a driver listed for mine and it seemed to solve this problem, but now the accidents began. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670. I did tests antivirus without result, tried to run the windows tools to find and fix problems with no luck either.

as I was trying to post this laptop has crashed again, but this time the screen flashed red, green, blue, which baffled me completely because I never met it. I tried the system restore, but apparently this custom works because a file is not available, but it does not say that. I think he might be linked to the driver I installed, but im not sure, since installing it things work better with videos etc, but of course accidents began with her.

    HEEEEELLLLLPPPPP

These are related to materials and called a BCC124.  Since she deducted "genuine Intel" I'd start with the CPU stress tests.  If you are overclocking STOP!

    Stop 0 x 124 is a hardware error

If you are overclocking try to reset your settings to standard processor and see if that helps.

If you keep getting the BSOD here are things more than you may want.
This is usually hardware related, defective heat, memory or processor even if it is "possible" he is associated (rare) driver.

Stop 0 x 124 - what it means and what to try

    Synopsis:
A "stop 0 x 124" is fundamentally different from many other types of bluescreens because it arises from a complaint of material.
Stop 0 x 124 minidumps contain very little concrete information, and it is therefore necessary to address the problem as a case of material in an unknown state of distress.

    Generic troubleshooting ' Stop 0 x 124 ":

    1) to ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Material which is pushed beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - may malfunction in unpredictable ways.
    (2) ensure that the machine is sufficiently cooled.
If there is doubt, open the side of the case (be aware of all the relevant conditions guaranteed!) PC and direct an electric fan squarely to the motherboard. Who will rule on most cooling problems (lack of).
    3) update all drivers related to materials: video, sound, RAID (if applicable), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is best to run the latest drivers anyway.
    (4) update the BIOS of your motherboard according to the manufacturer's instructions and clear CMOS.
Their website should provide detailed instructions on the brand and model-specific procedure.
    (5) rarely, bugs in the operating system may cause "false positives" 0 x 124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining, but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 does not have to suffer from a defect, but it is nevertheless important to keep Windows up-to-date.
    6) trying (stress) test these hardware components that can be put to the test artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD (s).
For the RAM, use the 3 rd-party memtest86 utility to run several hours a test value. (6-8 passes to stress the ram)
For hard drives, verify if CHKDSK /R finds any problems on (s), including "bad sectors".

Unreliable RAM, in particular, is mortal, as well as software, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result the diagnostic utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is free of any defect - only that none have been encountered during the test passes.
    7) as the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "Vanilla" Windows reinstallation: just the OS itself without additional applications, games, utilities, updates, new drivers - or ANYTHING that does not come from the Windows 7 disc.
Who stops working mitigate the problem of the 0 x 124, jump to the next step.
If you run the "Vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0 x 124 accident occurred, start installing applications and updates slowly, always stopping between successive additions long enough to get an idea of the question if the machine is still free of 0 x 124 breaks down.
Smash back, obviously the latest addition of software may be somehow connected to the root cause.
If the stop error 0 x 124 persist despite the above steps, and the equipment is under warranty, consider to go back and ask for a replacement that does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that want to perform the subsequent hardware troubleshooting steps can, in some cases, void your warranty:
    (8) clean and carefully remove the dust inside the machine.
Reinstall all memory modules and connectors.
Use a can of compressed air to clean the RAM DIMM supports as much as possible.
    (9) If all else fails, start removing items of hardware one by one in the hope that the culprit is something non-essential that can be eliminated.
Obviously, this type of testing is much easier if you have access to equivalent components in order to perform swaps.

If you are in the situation to have completed all the steps above without a resolution of the symptom, unfortunately the most likely reason is that the error message is literally correct - something is fundamentally wrong with the hardware of the machine.

Due to this blocking of the system frequently. some time system starts window in a few second, or after the windows login began with a few min.and then memory dump and the blocking of the system and blue sceen dump.

    Hi Er.Nirmal,

You did changes to the computer before the show?

I suggest you try the steps from the following link:

Resolve stop (blue screen) error in Windows 7
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/resolving-stop-blue-screen-errors-in-Windows-7

  • Satellite A10: blue screen error: 'kernel_inpage_data_error '.

When I turn on my laptop, it works fine for a little bit, and then after some time (usually when I do an antivirus check) a blue screen comes up saying "windows xp has been closed because the file"kernel_inpage_data_error"does not work or something.

This error keeps occurring. So I used the recovery disks to reinstall XP but the same error appeard again. And when I installed Xp again, it asks me to register & when I don't fill in my information he says "we'll call a phone to sign up" but then he says theres no dial tone.

I use broadband services and xp does not ansk me what type of internet that I use. It ask me to enter the serial number of my xp at any time. This way im can not get automatic updates more or it's just that I am not yet registered?

How can I register? The laptop belonged to someone else before and things were enrolled in his account before. I'd be happy if someone could kindly help out me.

    see you soon

    Hello

First of all, on the Toshiba Recovery CD you will find an operating system image that is always on and it is not possible or necessary to activate or to any key.

Secondly, I found this Microsoft page that describes this error message:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=315266

On this page you will find information that it is possible that the master boot record is infected with a virus.
I na? t have experience with "master boot record" virus but maybe formatting drive HARD integer it will erase. " However, this is only a suggestion.

If you are not able to solve this problem yourself, you should ask Toshiba service for assistance.

  • Card reader blue screens

I have three Thinkpads with integrated card readers: a X 61, a R61 and T500.  All have been running Windows 10 for awhile; all are on the ring 'quick compilation.  And for several months, all three have the same unusual problem when using the card reader.  If the card is formally ejected through the windows, or if the card is simply deleted, machines with a blue screen failure WORKER INVALID.  It is always reproducible on all machines.

I tried different drivers Ricoh fished from the web without affecting the question.

After scratching my head for several months, I'll ask if anyone has any ideas for a possible cure.

  • Blue screen after the work of completely P2V conversion completed

    Hi all

I have try the P2V of Powered - on Windows XP conversion.

The conversion work was finished with the status "completely."

However, after that, when I try to power on the target of the Win XP on ESXi machine, the machine displays the blue screen and does not start.

If there is a way to solve this problem, would you please let me know?

    [more info]

    1.

I chose the installation of vmware tools option in the conversion with VMware Converer autonomous steps.

However, it was not installed in the target machine Win XP on ESXi.

    2.

In this Windows XP P2V conversion, I can always find a certain caveat on the sysprep file in Converter Wizard.

The warning is "Impossible to locate the necessary Sysprep files."

Due to the expiration of the period of support for Microsoft's Windows XP, I can't do anything about this warning.

The default disk for XP controller is BusLogic, specially for 32-bit Windows. It might work with LSI Logic, too but with SAS - hardly.

The warning of sysprep is on the customization steps. If you do not it - ignore it.

In regards to the VMware tools - you can install later vsphere client, after fixing the boot
