Machines Linux taking two IPs of network profiles, but enrolling in vCENTER.

Hi all

I have 2 problems here with vcac network profiles.

When I use profiles network with reservations, I'm having windows machines configured right but the machines Linux booking 2 IPs in the network profiles, but registering with the profile of a network. I checked to see if the Linux machines have been set up to have two vNIC, but no. However, I tried to assign network profiles at reserves using the custom property 'VirtualMachine.Network0.ProfileName' and this way, I'm having the same problem as described. But this time for windows and LINUX machines.

Secondly, I have network profiles configured with mask, gateway, DNS server address, and Suffixes. When my machine is using network profiles, inherit from the shape of the network profile DNS suffix or I have to use the 'VirtualMachine.Admin.NameCompletion' property so that my machine to register in the DNS server.

vCAC version: 5.2

Custom spec: using

Static: Yes

Appreciate the HELP in advance.

Nits

Yes, the Linux machine will inherit the config of NP in the CustomSpec. In addition, if you install the GuestAgent (instead of using the CustomSpec) which will also set the relevant parameters. To do this, the action plan requires that the custom property VirtualMachine.Admin.UseGuestAgent be set to True.

    Hello

    I want to activate the user select network based on the network available, chosen in PG when you set a reservation. I use XML to list outside these exchanges but facing problems with it. I use vCAC 5.2 with vSphere 5.5

    The model is configured with a network adapter, keeping in mind that what ever network selected by the user would add to the provisioned VM.

    1. I am able to get the Port Group reflected in vcenter under the network section, but the setting of the virtual machine does not added adapter list. I could see Mac address associated to the Portgroup and allocated IP network profile, but I do not see these values in the VM.

    2 - I custom configured VM from vCAC and added additional NIC with different portgroup who also has associated the different subnet network profile. This time I could see port group reflected in vCenter under network and also the adapter is also added to the VM, but still could not see IP address other APIPA address then. However a single IP address again responsibility network profiles that does not matter where in the VM.

    have I missed something? is there an agent that must be installed on a virtual computer to enable this feature (just a wild guess! )

    Help, please!

    BR,

    MG

    Yes this actually solved the problem, but it's still strange that we need to care about customization in vCenter and reference should be placed in the strategic plan, how construction profile Important in this scenario?

    However, custom, property of "CloneSpec" is not required to mention under properties if you use the field 'customization Specs"of Blueprint.

    This requires no installation of the Agent. It is agentless.

    Thank you

  • Two questions - cannot save the printer shares with the error code 0x000006d9 and part of the Machine is not accessible from the network of working groups

    I think this are problems, but here is the separately questions, first of all - the basics:

    4 PC network using the working group with two Windows 7 (ultimate) and two xp.  Everything worked fine with the a previous vista / xp 3 network.  All except the Windows 7 Desktop behave well. The network is connected with a modem cable to a 5XT netscreen NS (firewall hardware to the outside and the inside hub), a netgear wireless access point and Windows workgroup use (as mentioned above).  Name all is correct on all machines, all the discovery settings are in place and each has Norton Internet security for its local protection services. Upgrades of Windows 7 have been computer vista laptop connected wireless and wired desktop previously running XP Professional sp3.  XP conversion was assisted on the desktop of the wizard upgrade Laplink PC Mover.  Applications executed in appearance on the two level computers.

    On the desktop - I can't share printers. When I use "networks and printers" in the start menu to share on a printer I get code 0x000006d9 error saying something like the configuration cannot be saved.  All local jobs printing works well.

    On the desktop - the name of the computer records also of all as on the network (it is discovered and mapped by each PC) but when I try to access it from any other machine I get a general error says something like "check your spelling of the name mannequin." This desktop computer Win 7 can browse shared folders on the network of and write about everything.  Somewhat added data - this device can ping all others in the network sucessfully but none get a ping successfully into the offending machine either with ip address or computer name (times out waiting for a response or said the name is not found).  He himself can ping successfully.  It accesses the internet very high hand.

    Solutions have been attempted without a firewall (Firewall Norton Smart Internet - 2010), with the firewall and various changes to authorization.  A final discovery was that Windows Firewall will not allow because BFE is not able to start - error 5 - access denied (this was discovered by train to allow a possible solution because of some internet chatter that the Windows Firewall must be running to implement shared printers).  All other dependencies are running to get a break on why BFE is not (it turns on the Win 7 laptop as well as the firewall).  Authorizations have been verified in the registry for settings of firewall and BFE (ports, permits, etc.) have also been looked at with a very critical eye.  SFC has been run with no problem.  All ports for net drivers, Win 7 networking and other actions are open in the firewall.

    Then people - I did some internet research and I tried a lot of suggested solutions nothing doesn't.  My apologies in advance if a person provides a solution and I say "tried".  Any help is very appreciated

    You can mark this as resolved problem!
    The program involved, causing this error is firewall Windows, here is what you need to do to fix this...
    If like me you have disabled windows firewall, I use Security Suite of ZoneAlarm, you will need to re-enable the firewall to share the printer.

    If you have disabled or turned off the Windows Firewall. (and in my case this error was caused by exactly that)
    Step #1 - disable any other firewall can be installed. Stop to load at startup and restart your PC.

    Step #2 - go to the tools of Admin folder > Services > Windows Firewall > double click and is it set to manual or automatic and keep it.

    Step #3 - open Control Panel > system & security > Windows Firewall > enable or disable the Windows Firewall > (Enable) turn on the Windows Firewall > save
    Then go to Restore Defaults > click on restore default button > save
    (you only do this IF you have changed the settings of the firewall, but it is always a good idea and will ensure that there are no problems during the proceeding)

    Step #4 - click Control Panel Home > view devices & Printers > Select / click on your printer > screen printer properties > share > share this printer > OK

    Step #5 - go back to firewall Windows and the tower he walks back > save

    Step #6 - go back to Services > and the Manual value Windows Firewall (or turn it off if you want, I recommend the manual)

    Step #7 - reboot and re-enable your firewall preferred to start at startup > Reboot

    Step #8 - take a deep breath and sigh of relief! :)

  • How to activate the two IPS on VCS starter pack express

    I have the Starter of Cisco Express works with a single IP address using a NAT. This only works inside the LAN. To enable this machine on the internet, I bought the key option to double network interface. I enabled both interfaces, but I don't know how I should configure the two IPS by access from the internet. I tried to activate the static NAT, but it did not work.

    There is only a single default gateway and this is where most of the traffic will be released and which should point to the internet router.

    If you have addresses of internall more than 'LAN', you can simply add additional routes via the administration console.

    As if LAN is connected to LAN2 192.168.150.0/24 and you 192.168.175.0/24 your home and where your laptops

    router for tha is 192.168.150.1 you would add that, on the road to xcommand, add the command:

    xcommand RouteAdd

    *h 'xCommand RouteAdd'

    "Adds and configures a new IP route (also known as a static route)."

    Address(r): "Specifies an IP address used in conjunction with the prefix length to determine the network to which this route applies."

    PrefixLength(r): <1..128> "Specifies the number of bits of the IP address which must match when determining the network to which this route applies. Default: 32"

    Gateway(r): "Specifies the IP address of the gateway for this route."

    Interface: "Specifies the LAN interface to use for this route. Auto: the VCS will select the most appropriate interface to use. Default: Auto"

    for the example given, it would be (user admin via ssh):

    xcommand road add an address: 192.168.175.0 LG: gateway interface 24 192.168.150.1: LAN2

    But to be honest I'm not sure jabbervideo it works well with the highway espress in

    a lan environment double anyway.

    As with a vcs - c / e deployment you have the model of the internal and external with vcs

    different hosts where he tries to get funding and then depending on who gets the data

    for the record. It may be that in any case only get you external IP of the vcs-e.

    I would therefore simply deploy a DMZ where the outside and inside can reach the starterpack with

    the same address or even external ip using a NAT that is hosted in LAN1 put directly on a public ip address in a dmz...

  • Change the subnet on the network profile

    Hello

    Like a fool I created 3 network profiles and paths using 16 subnets when they should have been 24. I wonder now to open firewall rules to route to other VLANs in 24 of the subnets. As its 16 and the two first parts are identical i.e. 10.2.X.X they don't route through the firewall

    The current VMS I can just go to manually change the subnet assigned to the NIC and they work.

    When I look at a network profile to change the subnet - it is greyed out

    Is there a way I can change this manually? so that the new virtual machines created with / 24 subnet and exisiting VMs I can manually change

    Or is the only way to delete the network profile and start over. How this affect the VMs running other than bulk can try and assign an IP address already in use?

    Thank you!

    You can try to update the database

    Find the name of the profile

    SELECT * from StaticIPv4NetworkProfile

    the name of the profile update

    Update dbo. StaticIPv4NetworkProfile

    Set SubnetMaskIPv4 = "255.255.255.0" where StaticIPv4NetworkProfileName = 'YOUR NETWORK PROFILE'

    Open the database in SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) and run the SQL query when it is connected to your database of vRA. He has not supported but will most likely solve your problem.

    Or if you are not happy to do this directly through the database, you might try using the vRO vRA plugin and call the vCACEntityManager and update the StaticIPv4NetworkProfiles entity. My guess is the update of the database direct would be easier, but please take a backup and only update the field and nothing else.

  • Static and dynamic IP on same machine - linux

    Hello

    I installed oracle 11g Linux 5.2 under a machine (gust) VM that resides on Windows 7 (host).

    Host machine (windows 7) I want to access the database 11g located on machine (Linux) of comments through PuTTY.

    problem that I am facing is, when I use dhcp (automatic ip generated) under the machine burst linux I can able to access computer guest of host through BIMBO02.
    But when I use the static IP address (by dhcp from disconnection, I am not able access to host guest!)

    As oracle recommends I use static ip for the configuration database, but I'm not able to access the machine to burst from the host with static ip address.

    Is there a way I can access the guest computer to host even when I use the static ip address.

    Thanks in advance.

    IndianDBA wrote:
    I use vmware... and your notes helped me... even though the issue has not been resolved full but got a concept where I can come up with solution

    Thank you very much, Ed.

    Earlier you said "when I started PuTTY using the ip address of host machine (Linux) machine (Windows) to burst error (error: network connection has expired).

    It seems quite the opposite of the configurations of most people. In this architecture, 'host' is actually installed on the physical machine, one on which you have installed VMware itself. The "guest" is the virtual system running under VMware. For most people, this means that the host system is Windows, run on their laptop Desk/computer, and the "guest" is Linux, running as a virtual machine under VMware or VirtualBox.

    But regardless of the foregoing, as you're running under vmware, on the system host (see previous paragraph) will show two network adapters associated with VMware. VMnet1 is to map hostonly and VMnet8 is the NAT map. When I put in place a guest vm under VMware, I take note of the ip address of the adapter VMnet8. In order of explanation, let's say it's 192.168.8.1. So when you set up the configuration of the network on the guest virtual machine, you want to give it an ip address of 192.168.8.n, where n is between 3 and 255. My personal naming convention for my personal VMs is at the end of the name of the server with a 2-digit sequential number (vmlnxsrv01, vmlnxsrv02, etc.). I then use that number as the last two digits of the IP address, from 101. So in the example I just gave, vmlnxsrv01 virtual machine would be given an IP address of 192.168.8.101, and vmlnxsrv02 would be 192.168.8.102.

    In addition, as I have noted in the blog, VMware and Vbox manage differently their networking. Unlike VBox in VMware, I never had to define two network cards. I just used one and it assign an ip address in the subnet of the adapter VMnet8 (NAT). Which filled all the conditions that I have addressed in the blog post, namely:
    1 - the ability to have an ip address sets
    2 - that the ip address is NOT space on the company or the network of the ISP - the device is not visible what anyone outside the host (see the definition in the first paragraph, above).
    3 - the capacity of the virtual machine guest to open access to the internet
    4 - the ability to access resources on the guest virtual machine using the same tools that I use to access the physical servers on my corporate network. And there is not another copy of the tool itself. I mean the same tool. For example, I installed on my desktop, PuTTY to give me a ssh client to access to * nix servers.  In this copy of PuTTY I defined connections to 6 servers in my guests VM Center 4 AND data of company running VMware or VBox on my desk.  My local tnsnames.ora has entries for both my databases AND databases running my Windows VMs.

  • How can I change IP assignemnts in network profiles in the vRA

    A virtual machine has been provided through a VLAN defined in a network profile. An IP address has been allocated on the virtual computer network profile. All good but VM has then been changed manually to get a new IP and VLAN assigned by replacing the original AVP defined IP and VLAN. Anyone know how I can remove the old IP of the vRA network profile?

    From now on, that we develop a workflow vRO to allow users to perform work to change the custom properties of VM to then change the IP VM in the profile.

    This isn't official supported, but you can do it in the database of the vCAC (here, through vCO):

    var date   = new Date();
    var query  = "UPDATE [dbo].[StaticIPv4Address]";
    query += " SET [Hostname] = ''";
    query += " ,[VirtualMachineID] = NULL";
    query += " ,[StaticIPv4AddressState] = 1";
    query += " ,[LastModifiedDate] = '" + System.formatDate( date,"yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss" ) + "'";
    query += " WHERE [IPv4Address] = '" + IpAddress + "'";
    query += " AND [StaticIPv4NetworkProfileID] LIKE '" + networkProfile + "'";
    var resultRecords = database.executeCustomQuery( query );

  • PowerCLI Script to migrate virtual machines with the same network Source for the new vCenter Server.

    Hi all

    I checked a few posts on the migration to the new vCenter Server virtual machine. But I'm not very good with Powercli and need some help here.

    We have a new vCenter server where we migrate virtual machines from one source vCenter server. Here are two things that I don't know how to connect together to make sure that bwfore we turn on the virtual machine to the virtual machine is connected to its source network.

    Part 1 - this script works well but do not get any network on the vCenter destination.

    cluster = Get-Cluster "clusterA.

    $inventory = get-Cluster $cluster | Get - VM | Add-Member - MemberType ScriptProperty-name "VMXPath" - value {$this.extensiondata.config.files.vmpathname}-Passthru-Force | Select-Object Name ResourcePool, folder, VMXPath |

    $inventory | Export-Csv c:\file.csv

    $inventory = import-csv c:\file.csv

    $cluster = get-group 'b '.

    {foreach ($vm to $inventory)

    $ESXHost = get-Cluster $cluster | Get-VMHost | Select - 1 first

    New-VM - VMFilePath $vm. VMXPath - VMHost $ESXHost - location $vm. Folder - ResourcePool (Get-Cluster $cluster |) Get-ResourcePool $vm. ResourcePool)

    }

    Part 2 - I want to preserve the Portgroup macaddress and the Ip of the virtual computers and connect them to the new vCenter. How can I do this with the script below. Or how can I combine them together?

    $vm_list = get-Cluster-name "clustera | Get - VM test * | Name sort

    $information = {foreach ($vm to $vm_list)

    $network_adapter_information = get-NetworkAdapter - VM $vm

    }

    Step 2

    # Unsubscribe virtual machines

    Remove-VM - VM $vm_list-RunAsync Verbose - confirm: $false

    Step 3

    $cluster = get-group 'b '.

    {foreach ($vm to $inventory)

    Hi all

    I made some changes to the script and it worked for me. We have added a host on the destination with all exchanges and storage mapped vCenter.

    $vm_list = get-Cluster-name 'Site B - b | Get - VM | Name sort

  • Assignment of IP with vCAC external network profile

    I joined vCAC and NSX, and note that the Service Edge router that gets deployed on a blueprint multi-machine receives 2 IP addresses on its unique "uplink" profile external network interface.  Here is my setup and what is happening.  Any help to understand why this would be useful.  Not a huge deal because it is a learning laboratory, but when I go to implement it in a production environment, I need to know if this is expected behavior, or if something is wrong because it effectively reduces the number of possible networks to deploy-able by half.  Again, not a big problem as this "transport network" (the section between the Edge Gateway manually deployed and dynamic Service Edge routers) will exist entirely in the vSphere environment and can be as big as a class A network, if necessary, it is however a huge waste of space IP I want to solve it if possible.

    Topology:

    I have a NSX Edge and the virtual wire (switch NSX L2) already deployed in the environment.  Within vCAC I have:

    -a reserve related to the dvPortGroup created by the NSX L2 switch

    -an external network profile that is used to configure the port to uplink of dynamically deployed NSX routers edge of Service to connect to the LAN segment between the dynamic ESR and the switch of NSX Edge/L2, already deployed

    -a profile of NAT network 1 number which is used to configure the virtual machines deployed from vCAC plans

    -a vSphere vCAC VM blueprint pointing to a snapshot of a virtual computer within the environment vSphere (linked clone deployment)

    -a plan of multi-machine vCAC which contains the above plan and assigns a network interface to the virtual machine and using the profile of network NAT 1 to configure the IP settings on the virtual machine.  MM master plan contains only a single VM in order to test the dynamic creation of network and IP assignment features/integration between vCAC and NSX.

    Topology resulting, once the virtual computer is deployed:

    Edge (deployed manually) NSX gateway

    v

    v

    NSX L2 Switch/Virtual Wire (deployed manually

    v

    v

    NSX edge router Service (deployed as part of the deployment of the vCAC action plan)

    v

    v

    VM (deployed as part of the deployment of the vCAC action plan)

    In theory what needs to happen is that when I ask a resource of the Architecture SDSE MM:

    1. the ESR is deployed with 2 interfaces: 1 for the external network configured with an IP address available on the corresponding subnet and 1 for internal NAT network configured with the IP address of the default gateway is configured in the profile of NAT network.

    2 NAT rules and treatment of traffic are automatically configured in the ESR

    3. the virtual computer is deployed and configured with a NETWORK adapter with the configurations appropriate IP such as specified in the profile of NAT network.

    What is actually happening:
    1. the ESR gets deployed with 2 network cards; 1 NETWORK card for uplink to the external network, which gets 2 IP addresses on the subnet (instead of 1) 13 and 1 NIC for the default gateway of the NAT had network configured with the IP address of the NAT network default gateway.  Steps 2 and 3 still occur.

    Hi Jeremy,.

    It is the expected behavior. If you deploy an edge manually, you will be asked for a 'IP management', and then an IP address for the use of the uplink. It is the second IP source address. If you were to use a NAT, you get an additional IP address for each VM on the NAT's segment.

    See you soon,.

  • Problem with external network profile and DHCP

    Hello

    Is it possible to create a network without IP range profile, in order to use the external DHCP protocol.

    If I create a network without ip range profile I got this error when I submit an application VM:

    [catalog] Com.vmware.vcac.platform.rest.client.error.ResponseErrorHandler.handleError:55 - [error rest] ERROR: {status code: 400}, {error code: 42300}, {error Source: null}, {Msg of error: a server error occurred.} Error the applicant unit. {The list of unallocated IP addresses for the network profile (mynetworkprofile) has been exhausted.}, {System Msg: error of Infrastructure service provider}

    I'm sure we can do it, but I don't know how

    Max

    Simply create the profile of any network. Just assign the reservation with the network that you want to use, and the virtual machine will get his IP from the DHCP server.

    vCAC will not be able to manage these addresses because DHCP manages them--if that's what you want to accomplish...

I am able to cancel out, but I can't even open either application.  If I select I can open the document in word, but I can't access Word from the options menu or the shortcut I used last year.  I ran a virus scan today and 5 cases have been detected and removed.  I ran the scan under 5 profiles, but now I can't access BitDefender (my virus scan) under either of the two affected profiles.  Please notify. Henry

  • Network profile is not displayed

    (1) my networks manage saved a lot of profiles and the laptop connects to the wi - fi in range. But when I go on manage network profiles, that it shows only the current profile I'm connect to. I even tried netsh wlan show profiles and even there, it only shows the current profile.

    (2) recently I had to reset my network and changed the password while keeping the same ssid. Now he add a number after the name 3, while in the profile, it shows without number 3.
