Made a recovery advanced on old laptop Alienware now, nothing works

So I have an old Alienware, at least 9 years: M9700i-R1

It was really slow and I decided to perform a system restore as nothing else worked on speed and there was nothing (except Microsoft Office), that I wanted to keep. I used the Alienrespawn v2.0 and instead decide on recovery of Microsoft, recommended, I chose the advanced recovery with a backup of everything - I think that I didn't know what was slowing down the computer to transfer to the installation of the factory, ugh.

Anyway, the laptop is fast now, except that I can't do anything. Windows vista is about all I have but it is not the internet explore so I can't access the internet (there wireless to connect).

Backup is the disk space (D). When I try to load things from the backup I get different errors and cannot. Device Manager does not show me even need of what are the new drivers because they all apparently the newest available driver lol.

Don't know what to do now. I also have a System Recovery DVD for Vista Edition v.2 home premium and a Vista M9750 CD v1.1 support

It seems that there is a problem with the recovery tool and operating system, I recommend that you perform a new installation of windows instead.

  • my daughter forgot the password on this laptop, and now nothing can be upgraded. How do I change and reset the password

computer is without hope, without updates

If you have forgotten your password, if you have another user who has administrative privileges account you can log in to that account and change the password of your account of origin of the user accounts applet in Control Panel. If you do not have another account like this set upwards or that you do not have the password which you will need to log on to the built-in Administrator account. In XP Home, start the computer in Mode safe. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. This will put you in the right menu. Navigate using your arrow up; the mouse does not work here. Once in safe mode, you will see the normally hidden administrator account. The default password is white.

In XP Pro, you don't need to go to Safe Mode. In the home screen, do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" and the password that you assigned when you set up Windows.

If you reset the password of the account administrator integrated into house or have Pro and don't remember the password, use NTpasswd to change the password of the built-in to a white administrator account. Download the bootable CD .iso image file, burn with third-party burning software such as free ImgBurn , Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Start with the media that you have created. You need to maybe change the boot order in the BIOS or obtain a menu of boot command temporary with the pressure of a special key. NTpasswd will run. Follow the instructions carefully.

    http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/

Then, go to the user accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords that you remember and other changes. WRITE THE PASSWORDS DOWN AND PUT THEM SOMEWHERE YOU WON'T LOSE THEM.

  • old laptop to new pc Windows key

so.  I have 'not real' 7 atm in my pc. IV been told to go my previous key from my old laptop to it so its true, but I cannot get it to work.  the problem is. This laptop has been home premium, and not the true ultimate. How do I change edition ultimate home premium and get guaranteed that it will work with my last cdkey windows?

The only way you can transfer the license of Windows 7 Home Premium laptop is if it is a retail license. If it is preinstalled on the old laptop, it is non-transferable.

If it's retail, you must perform a custom installation using the installation of Windows 7 Home Premium disc:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

  • Upgrade with the SSD, the recovery on the old HARD drive partition

Hi, I would like to upgrade my W530 with SSD. What should I do to have work Pre-boot recovery with recovery partition the disk of HARD now at this time while the system would be the new SSD? Is this possible? BTW, I am considering between mSATA and SSD 2.5 "for windows. Which should I choose? I have to admit mSATA is more convenient for me.

    Thanks in advance!

    > recovery partition? I don't want to move on SSD

You can skip it when you perform the cloning.

    > What about pre-seed recovery? It will work even if I copy the recovery on the SSD partition?

The presence of a recovery partition valid on the active drive (which is the new SSD, in your case) is required for recovery on-site work. So, if this feature is important to you, you should go back to the first question above.

If you have not made your purchase, you should take a close look at the M4 Crucial mSATA SSD 128 GB. Just a suggestion.

  • I have an old laptop running XP. It has clogged up big time and need to wipe and reinstall XP. I have no disk.

    Hello

I have an old laptop running XP.  It has clogged up big time and need to wipe and reinstall XP.  I have no XP disc, but have a license number on the details of the system window.

I can't find a recovery partitionand can not find anywhere to begin the creation of recovery disks.

I've defragged and cleaned files.  I did a registry clean not long ago who did nothing.

It was originally my husbands laptop and sat on the shelf unused for 3 years.  We now use for recording and playing music only and don't want no other programs about this other than the music software and a pack of office (which we have).  I don't even think it should be connected to the internet, because I'm afraid that the updates could corrupt the old programs that we will get on it once sorted.

I can give Microsoft license number so that they can send me XP?

Does anyone know if I need to rethink the connection through the web?

    Any other advice?

    Thanx

    Glenys

Contact the manufacturer of the computer.  As the OEM licensed dealer, they had to provide you with a way to restore the computer to its default settings.  You may need to pay for it now.

General cleaning of the registry nothing if you try to fix something specific, then you usually just fixed this specific thing.  ;-)
