Mailing list of Thunderbird cut some addresses

I have a relatively small list of 13 recipients in my address book. When used in an email, only the first 7 or 10 (different attempts produced different results with the same list) recipients on the list get listed in the To:-area of the sent message. I have broken the list into two halves and was able to send an email to all the 13 people in this way is not a problem of email provider.

The way Thunderbird does not show an extended list of recipients in a list until after sending a message makes the problem much more annoying to my recipients.

Problem was the unnecessary quotation mark in a speech on the list. Sent to e-mail addresses get there orders.

Detective Conan as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the help everyone.

I try to add a contact to a mailing list and the contact has an e-mail address. In the mailing list, it says "type email addresses to add to the mailing list." I do a fake e-mail to those contacts who do not?

If you insist on using a mailing list for something it is not designed for, I guess the answer is Yes.

Address books are contacts and provide contacts without email addresses. As stated previously, the mailing lists are to create groups for sending group emails. For a contact to be on a mailing list they must exist in the address book in which you create the list.

A better solution if you try to create categories of contacts is to create a new address book.

I don't want to mix the personal contacts with business contacts. I like a second tab addresses to show when I have my business address opened in 'inbox '.

The personal book and collected books are the books of two default cannot be deleted, and suggested DO NOT rename them.

When you select this option to add a contact to an address book by clicking the star next to the address it will add to the personal address book. You can click on the star again to open the dialog box modify and change to place the contact in the address book.

The collected book collects addresses for outgoing messages.

There is no function by default to collect addresses of incoming e-mail.

Just to keep the terminology straight, Thunderbird has address books and mailing lists.
You can create new address books in the address book window by selecting file-new-address book.

You can create mailing lists within address books to use for distribution groups. The contact must exist in the address book where the mailing list is created to be added to the list. You create a mailing list by clicking on the button new list.

  • I have mailing lists in my address book I'd like to share, how do I do this?

I often asked for, less paid people I have to work to send updated list of dissemination of all of our staff (which can change often). I have personally created my own email lists and keep up-to-date and it would be useful that I could send my email lists to colleagues in a simple way that makes it easy for them to download/create? Any ideas?

I assume that you have created a mailing list which is a sub group/list from the address book.

    In address book
    Select the mailing list
    Tools > export

Choose a location to save the file
    Give an appropriate file name
Save as file type: a .csv comma-delimited
    Click Save

Now, you can send this file as an attachment to his colleagues.
.csv files can be imported into any email client.

    If they are using Thunderbird
    Open address book
    Tools > import
Select "Address book" and click Next
Select: text file (LDIF, .tabtable, .csv, .txt) and click Next

Select the file and click open to import.

It will be imported as an address book not a mailing list.
Mailing lists are a subset of an address book, the names must be in the address book before you can be in a mailing list.
So, they would need manually move the contacts if they need it in a different location, but at leasy they would all contact details without having to add them manually.

  • URGENT update for Thunderbird - mailing list is broken

The most recent update to Thunderbird broke mailing lists. Trying to send a message to a list to get an error message. test dialog box is as follows:
    Invalid delivery address.
[entry from the list on the 'To' line] is not an email address valid because it is not the form user@host. You need to fix it before you send the e-mail. »
I tried to recreate the mailing list (49 names!), no change. I used this (and other mailing lists) for years, so I'm positive, that it ruptured during the last update to Thunderbird. I hope that you appoint it as a critical issue since mailing lists are a crucial function of a mail client. More I do several mailings a month to this list, and typing in 49 names each time by hand isn't funny (just finished with the message of today ' hui).
Thank you, if possible I would like to comment on this so I know what to expect (I know you're busy).
    Using Mac OS 10.8.4, Thunderbird v. 31.1.0.

I had a problem sending mail to a list that I had used successfully in Eudora. Imported from Eudora and it has not been accepted in Thunderbird with the above error message. My name of the list was of 2 words. I deleted the space between the 2 words and can now send mail to this list successfullly.

  • I installed the fix for bug TB31.1 and now my e-mail lists do not work because TB does not recognize it as a reference to a list of e-mail addresses.

I get an error message that says:

< "list name" > list name is not a valid e-mail address because it is not the form user@host. You need to correct before sending the e-mail message.

It is true for lists I often used in new buildings, old and new of these lists since the upgrade.

Well, it of a regression and pointed out that the Bug #1060901. If you have a Bugzilla account, please consider voting for this question.

Several other people have sent in the same request of support you, noting that it happened after they upgraded to version 31.1.

The exact error message is: XXXX is not a valid e-mail address, because it is not the form user@host. You need to correct before sending the e-mail message.

This happens in Thunderbird 31.1.0 when the description of your mailing list includes several words separated by spaces.

Well that isn't ideal, these workaround solutions should allow you to use your mailing lists until a proper fix is implemented:

    • All by composing an email open the address book and select the list you want to send, to highlight all the names in the list and drag them to the To: box. This example uses your existing data without changing it.
    • Replace white "" between the words in the descriptions of these lists with an underscore "_". This requires modification of your descriptions of mailing list (s).
    • Upgrade to an earlier version and disable automatic updates (Windows)

    On the automatic updates

Automatic updates are by default in Windows.

You can Customize this behavior, however, it is under Tools > Options > advanced > update.

My suggestion would be to put to check for updates but let me choose weather to install., especially if you depend on critical business e-mail / important or personal questions.

I upgraded to Thunderbird 31.1.0 yesterday. I have not modified the distribution list in the last few weeks. This is the first time I used the distribution since the upgrade list. I never got an error message from the mail server who oppose my distribution list. The distribution list has thirty three 33 addresses. The last time I sent by email using the distribution list has been 28/08/14. Text of the alert message 'Invalid recipient address' is ' < ' chorfa watch"> NW-members is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host.» You need to fix it before you send the e-mail. »

(I've edited the details of the issue and moved the thread to Thunderbird - c)

I'm glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. I noticed that you have chosen your own answer as the solution, you can select the answer that solved the problem. This will help other users with similar problems more easily find the solution.

I also have new information on this subject.

It looks like this bug. If you have a Bugzilla account, it would be useful to vote for this issue.

It seems that lists with a description that includes several words have this problem. The bug report suggests to replace whites "" between the words in the descriptions of these lists with an underscore "_".

If you don't want to change your descriptions, the other workaround provided still works.

  • Some emails, which are on my server, do not appear in my list of thunderbird (or appear one day and not subsequently), why?

I seem to be losing a few e-mails. They may (or may not) appear once in the list of thunderbird, but later, they are gone. These are usually from the same source which have already been received (IE follow emails) but, once to the list, are not grouped with the previous email or put in the file from the Recycle BIN.

There are several possible reasons that messages seem to "disappear".

There are two types of e-mail accounts: IMAP and pop. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts
If you have a POP account and access e-mail on more than one computer or smartphone, regardless of the device readings (downloads) the message initially it will have locally, but it won't be more listed or available on other devices.
If you have an IMAP account, the message remains on the server, but if one device (user) moves or deletes the message, it will affect the view on all devices. Thus, for example, if you use your smartphone and take action on an e-mail, when you return to your computer, it will reflect the same action (but you might not have realized what caused it).
Another, less likely, reason for messages only appears in your Inbox is to have the preference set to show only unread messages. Then once you read them, they seem to disappear.

  • How can I block addresses in a mailing list?

I started a new mail list. I entered all the addresses, but I want to do is to block all names except the individual who that email is sent. For example, I have a list that sends mail to a, b, c, d and e. I want only the name in to:, only BS name in: and so on. It's like sending a carbon copy invisible to each person. • Cannot turn off junk e-mail filter in Thunderbird

I disabled the Adaptive junk mail activate in any of my accounts. I also added addresses from messages marked as spam and added to my collected addresses, I even added a filter with the addresses and their permit. NOT YET AND I have some addresses that are ALWAYS marked as spam even though I continually mark them as JUNK.
How can I disable this thing?

Thunderbird has unwanted Global setting in the options.
In the toolbar > Options > Security > junk. Beyond this undesirable treatment often occurs in three places, not only of Thunderbird

    • The mail server run by you email provider. It is sometimes something you can not choose to. For example the Yahoo junk mail filtering is not optional.
    • In the Internet Security Suites / antivirus program there is often an anti spam tool that filters spam mail
    • Junk mail filtering in Thunderbird using Bayesian learning.

These three methods are add external programs such as those shown here

Those three things do not work together. Usually, when we see people in this forum with questions like yours it's a two other forms of filtering which is the cause of spam. from their belief that Thunderbird is way wrong.
