  • How to use Mandriva Linux on Qosmio G30-148

    Hello

I ve bought this machine with WXP MCE, and I´d like to use a distribution linux (dual boot). On my old Toshiba Sattelite A10, I use Mandriva 2006 in this way. It works perfectly. "But, Qosmio, I have some problems with installation MDV 2006 (nVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, LAN) and shut down the system...). I would be very happy if I use Mandriva on this laptop, but on the other Linux is better then nothing for me.

Does anyone have good experiences with Linux on Qosmio (G30)? I prefer "user friendly" linux - (K) Ubuntu, SuSE, Fedora, Mandriva...
Thanks to all and sorry for my English. ;-)

What are your problems? I use Gentoo on my A100-912, looking at material you have same processor (Core 2 Duo), same (Intel 945), even wifi chipset (Intel 3945ABG), same GPU (Go 7600)...

I see no reason why it shouldn't work. To Go 7600, you must use the binary drivers, LAN to e100 module (Intel PRO/100 network driver).

Why is this happening and what can I do to solve this problem.

    Hello

I'm don't know if you know, but Toshiba doesn't support the Linux operating system.
In this case there is no information on these issues of Linux on Toshiba laptops.
I have a tip for you. Why not install windows on your device and use a Knoppix Linux? You n t need to install Linux on the HARD drive. It starts from the live DVD and you can work with Linux as with Suse Linux.

An Atheros Wlan card installed on this laptop?
    If Yes, then it s a wireless network I / F Chip IAtheros that support a 802.11ag network (XB62L)
If you want to use the Mandriva Linux WiFi card you need a Linux driver that supports the above chip.
Unfortunately, there is no other solution.
But on the Toshiba page, you will find the linux drivers. It s simply not taken official in charge ;(

  • Firefox will not search using google.co.uk after an update of Firefox 10.0.3 to 10.0.4

I have a PC and a laptop, both running Mandriva Linux 2010.2. The PC running FF 10.0.3 and the laptop just upgraded to FF 10.0.4. In both cases, the homepage is google.co.uk. The PC is fine but the laptop will not try using google. I changed the homepage to yahoo.co.uk as a temporary solution and it will search and find. How can I get FF 10.0.4 to work with google?

Thanks, this seems to have worked. I tried this before, but got no result, but I didn't close FF and restart it and that maybe why it did not work the first time. Everything is good now, thanks for your help. It is now closed.

  • No DVD-ROM after recovery - Satellite A100-289

I recently had my A100-289 expedition in for repair. A few days later the unit returned to me with a new motherboard.
Unfortunately my OS has not started, so I got it from the DVD.

Once you have completed the recovery process, Windows MCE prompted with the "new hardware found" - Assistant, who wanted to install a driver for the DVD drive. Usually you don't need drivers for these, do you think?

After searching in vain the net for several hours, I tried to recover once more, then maybe the problem would disappear by itself, but unfortunately this was not the case, not even after the third recovery.

I tried to install on a clean install disc that I used on my desktop before, just to see if it works and then uninstall it. What can I say? It didn't work anyway :(
I am writing from said computer laptop on which I have installed as secondary to Mandriva Linux 2008 operating system. The DVD player works perfectly here.

I concluded it must be a software problem, which has to do with Windows maybe, there is a way to solve it, but I don't have a working solution yet, although I tried to uninstall and reinstall both driver and drive several times without success.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

First of all if you are able to install one operating system and then the CD/DVD drive works and surely it s not a hardware issue.
Then you should check the Device Manager after installing the recovery CD if there is no yellow exclamation point.
Then you must remove the drive from Device Manager and should access the registry.

It to completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    and then restart the laptop.

OK, it seems that your gcc version string has been localized French and therefore does not match the string stored in the kernel.  To resolve this issue, you need to make some modifications to the script that performs the audit.  Copy the files from the iso image in a directory writable on your system then:

  • The restoration o/s - dv6130us, errors - USBPORT. SYS, FAILURE OF PAGE IN THE BOX NOT PAGINATED

I have a laptop dv6130us. The system was THAT XP Media Center pre-installed with 1 GB of RAM and Vista capable at the time of purchase. I had updated the o/s to Vista first home with 2 GB of RAM. the laptop ran fine for 2 years until one day "Blue Screen of Death" greeted me. Lucky for me I took my backup of data among priority actions.

Vista Memory control indicated a problem with the memory and advised me to contact tech support. Tried reseating the RAM modules and restart... the o/s continued to hang with the blue screen, except in Mode without failure.

I tried to restore the o/s using the recovery Partition as well as discs of recovery without success. Whenever I tried recovery using the recovery discs, I would get the following message if poster after preparation of recovery partiion finished and restoration began.

"A problem has been detected & windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    "USBPORT. SYS

An attempt was made to write to read-only memory ".

When I tried to restore from the recovery using F11 partition, the recovery would take hardly 30 seconds and the system will re-start with a

"NTLDR is missing", on a black screen or a

    "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA * STOP: 0 x 00000050" error message on a blue screen.

I tried various combinations of modules of RAM without success. Checked the BIOS HP utility for HARD drive tests which indicated a 'pass' for the HARD drive tests 'Fast', 'Extended' & 'Smart '. This against the Tech Center guy who told me that the HARD drive was bad and must be replaced.

Even tried to retrieve using the manufacturer menu wiping the HARD drive completely and re - install the partiion recovery but not good.

Failure to load Windows XP Pro and Mandriva Linux 9 / Ubuntu 9.0. The last two Live DVD.

Current status: laptop does not go beyond the HP welcome screen.

    Can someone help me please?

    Hello

I finally managed to start Notepad using an external floppy with the BACK of old good drive.

Used two fresh memory modules (512 MB each) borrowed from a friend.

You need to Flash the BIOS by using the download from the HP Site - Driver Downloads (for dv6130us). Noticed the same file name for the Softpaq.exe for many models.

Used the original edition of XP Media Center Recovery DVD and voila... recovered from the o/s finally.

ContrГґler with MemXP86 (or something similar) downloaded from.NET to check the original strips. It seems one of the modules had gone Kaput! This combined with a certain way the BIOS is corrupted complicated the case.

Anyway, the laptop is finally running and I am certainly not back to Vista... until Microsoft comes up with something stable.

I put this up, in the case where someone is facing similar problem a few leads to follow.

    Thank you.

  • HPLIP and LaserJet CP1215 Plugin

I tried to get the cp1215 to work with my Mandriva Linux system cups 1.4.5.  I installed the HPLIP program for my distribution (3.12.10).  I installed the plugin,

I can see the printer, toner levels, and he says that it prints.  But nothing comes out of the printer.  In the window of cups, he said only 'arrested '.  Reinstall the plugin generates an error.

    How it works?

OK, I got it too much work...

After you install the HPLIP and the plug-in program (works the first time, said failed for the second time that you try to install) I went into the cups and changing the printer.

I changed the "current" link (don't remember what it was exactly) that had the name HPLIP, then changed the driver to the foo2, and now it works!

Just thought I'd pass that along in the case where somebody else was dealing with this problem.

I found also some workaround solutions:

    (1) Elimination of the soundcard virtual machine configuration: the virtual machine starts OK, but no sound;

    (2) set the option "use the card his physique" in the "Edit parameters of the virtual machine - equipment - sound card" window to ' OSS: / dev/dsp ': the virtual machine starts OK, with sound.

    Hello

I'm in charge of the ALSA library in Mandriva.

I've updated the ALSA-lib in 2010,1 repository main/test last week. You seem to have installed this version of libalsa test and found a problem.

Look no further, upstream validations that I took in the library contained a typo. I now took the patch followed upstream.

I have now updated the libalsa available in main/testing 2010.1, so please update and let me know if that solves the problem.

FWIW, if you notice a problem with the packages in the main/testing repository, you should probably first of all contact Mandriva via the bugtracker is a project upstream. The test repository is generally fine, but obviously problems pass through (in this case, I didn't test certain aspects that determine this problem for example).

In addition, if you do want to use the main/test, it is usually best to wait the official updates are published once it has been tested by others.

All the best, (and I hope the update fixes this problem).

For vSphere 4 (rewrite of this feature), data of the private table for OVF 0.9 has been preserved.

Somewhere along the line, '89' becomes 'other' rather than '-64' or ' otherlinux-64' or ' rhel5-64' (ordered under most preferred).»»»

  • Tecra S10 - 123 and Linux Mandriva boot problem

I have a Tecra S10 - 123 for two months and wanted to install Mandriva on it (I have no experience with Linux...). I burn the Image on Cd image .iso file and changed the bios settings to boot from the CD-ROM. It works without problem, but Mandriva stops to boot from the Live Cd once the kernel is loaded.

    What can I do?

Maybe it's a SATA question, have you tried to set the SATA Mode in the BIOS to "COMPATIBILITY"?

Work the other flavors of Linux? Maybe Ubuntu will install properly.

    Hey guys & gals
for the first time using this site and need some advice!

    I have a toshiba laptop
    "equium a60 model PSA67E-No.-00200D8J.

Ive had problems with my start up! I get an error message saying: I have a missing driver!

    read the MSG error-"system32\drivers\ntfs.sys".

    Also get message...

"windows was not start because the following file is missing or damaged:
    system32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys ".

Unfortunately I can't find my original CD boot disk & I don't want to lose the files saved... not too good sense when it comes to problems with this...

If anyone can give some advice please, it drives me crazy! Laughing out loud

    Alan.

    Heyho,

looks like you're in big trouble. I think the only chance to backup your files is to get some linux live CD (knoppix, ubuntu and mandrake) and an external hard drive to copy the files to your hard drive internal to external hard drive attached.

The best way would be to ask a technician or a guy who is VERY familiar with computers to backup your data.

After that you need to reinstall your operating system but without the recovery CD, you are out of luck. Then you don't have a lot of options.
One of these options is to look for startup disk or how to call it: "restore CD". If it is not available you should contact an authorized local dealer servicepartner toshiba and get a new recovery disk. The last option is to buy a Windows XP or to ask someone (family, friends, the one who) for a Windows XP to install.

    Greetings
