Manual backup

Hello

I did the manual backup where I back up the Production database on server1 and restore it on server2 with the same name PROD. To server2, I continue to send the logs to check-in by PROD and keep applying on the eve of backup by using restore database. The backup cannot be open but just on the mount status.
Is it possible that I can start it open read-only as the Oracle Dataguard Standby backup? where in I can use as a reporting server to unload some of the PROD server process? And after what I stops again to resume the application of archive logs?

Help, please...

Thank you very much

MsK

Usually speaing you should be able to have the day before on the server even if the standby database using an another ORACLE_HOME.

Please post your version of Oracle of 4 digits.

  • How to make a manual backup, so I have redunant copying my files

To ignore the story set in the last paragraph
I have thousands of pictures on my laptop. I also have another, my desktop computer, a significant amount of disk space that I use for my backup
I prefer manual backups as I want to use the content on both computers. I change my daily photo library, remove some photos that I need more, add new ones, so at the end of everything I have thousands of pictures on my laptop, most which are saved on the desktop, there are also a few new on my laptop that I would like to copy on my desk, AND there are a few elders on the desktop are no longer on the laptop (that I would like to delete)
To say the easy things, all I want to do is make an exact copy of the photos on my laptop to my desktop folder.
The only way I found to do this was to copy the whole folder to the desktop and then remove the old version of him
If I just copied the new version of the folder just above that older new photos get copied but older are deleted
Redundant comments: how to make an exact copy of a file in, say, another partition that has an older version of this same folder, which means that there is some files (in the older version folder) is no longer, I need and would like to get their removal, and other files that are already present in the two cases, I want to NOT crash. I can't do it manually because there are thousands of files and hundreds of files! Can anyone help?

In addition to the tool to try it, I forgot to mention that Windows Live Sync app keeps files in constant sync, so if a file is changed, it will distribute the latest version of all locations synchronized.  But if a file does not change, it will not re-synchronized.

However, there is another tool that is a bit more customizable and can be run on command (there's even a command line command so you can put it in a batch file or scheduled task).  It's Microsoft SyncToy.  Here are some resources that might interest you:

Watch completely wipe our current OS X Server version 5.0.15 10.10.5 running and perform a new installation/upgrade to 10.11.6 running 5.1.7 Server.

I try to avoid using a Time Machine backup, because my concern would be potentially inheriting our current configuration issues - so finally the preference is for a new installation and then manually import/restore calendar, Contacts, Wiki and users.

Can someone point me in the direction which the files/folders would be required to back up and then copied on the new installation?

In addition, once the files have been copied on the new machine to their respective directories, they would work with a different (newer) version of OS X Server?

    OR

It would be easier (and probably more successful) if all users of ~ 50 export their calendars and import them once the new server is running?

  • Manual backup of VSphere essential Plus 5.

    Hi all,

a very simple question. I need to do, each month, a cold backup of my virtual machines. I want to do it manually.

Is it enough if I copy the .vmx and vmdk files only or is it better if I copy all the files in the folder of the virtual machine?

    Thank you, goodbye.

Is it enough if I only copy the .vmx and vmdk files

Files vmdk contains the actual data of the virtual machine, so it must be saved, jut VMX files contain the configuration information for the virtual machine and it's easy to create if the vmdk files are present.

But if I want to exclude a virtual disk for the backup, I can't do it with the procedure of 'export model OVF '.

OVF option exports all content of the VM files in compressed format.

What exactly is the purpose of doing it manually?

Everyone prefers to was an automatic that manual, if you're objective is to perform a backup to take a glance at this ghettoVCB.sh - alternative free to backup s VM to ESX (i) 3.5, 4.x & 5.x

  • will choose the manually back option in iTunes backup everything that is on my iPhone to my computer? Including the app data

Not a problem just a question. I intend to sell my apple iPhone, it's not compatible with my new wireless network. I can't afford to buy an iPhone outright at the moment, but I plan in the future. I want to backup everything on my iPhone to my Mac so that I can restore the data to a new iPhone later. The current iPhone 5 is already set to save important things to iCloud, if I choose the option with a manual backup encryption will be that record everything, including all the data from the app? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I want to just make sure I have everything before you send the iPhone.

    Hello CallRinny,

I understand that you have a question about your iTunes backups and that you should use. Back on which covers.

In general, an iTunes backup will cover pretty much everything on your iPhone. The best thing to watch over it, it's what doesn't iTunes back upwards and which covers the encrypted backup. Take a look at the information below to clarify this. I would also do that applications will be recorded in your iTunes library, so when you restore your backup, apps will sync back to the wire in one sitting instead to download on the App Store.

    backup iTunes

On your Mac or PC, you can make a backup of your device in iTunes. Synchronize your device with your computer is not the same as performing a backup.

An iTunes backup includes almost all settings and data from your device. An iTunes backup does not include:

    • Content of the iTunes and App Store or directly downloaded from iBooks PDF files (you can save this content using transfer purchases in iTunes.)
    • Synchronized content from iTunes, as imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books and photos
    • Photos already stored in the cloud, like My Photo Stream and iCloud photo library
    • Tap Settings ID
    • Settings and information Apple pay
    • Data activity, health, and keychain (to save this content, you will need to use iTunes backup encrypted ).

Let me know if this clears it for you.

  • iCloud backup after iOS 10 - some files were not available during the last backup

HI - we are a company with about 350 users of iPhone and iPad.  I put this in the iCloud in the community section, but I've seen other users have the same problem in this section, so I thought I would add here.

In order to stop users add their own e-mail accounts on the iPhone that lock us the device through restrictions - deactivation of the accounts section.  It stops and then access the iTunes settings.  In the test of iOS 10.0.1, we have one of the devices (a 16 GB 5 s, who had been a backup at 7:20 that morning), improved 9.3.2 that went well with no obvious problems, then, after a few days to leave the handset to the function, we have lifted the restriction and the backup on iCloud to find any backup not occurred since the upgrade and a message 'some files were not available during the last. backup"in its place.

If all our staff upgrade their phones (we gave says not yet) then the backups look like they stop.  It is easy to fix, as a manual backup, will complete the process, but you have to remove the restriction to do this.

We tested on iPhone 5, 5 s, air iPad iOS 8 to 9.3.5 and all have this problem.

I have exactly the same problem, 16 GB iPhone 5s as well. I plan on raising at my Genius Bar appointment today.

  • Independent external drive for Time Machine backup

Can I save two external hard drives independently in two separate backup drives?

2 TB DHM supported with a 2 to DHM

    and

5 to DHM supported with a to 5 DHM

The 2 TB drive holds the content inventory which changes often but never amounts to more than 300 GB.

5 TB disk holds archived folders which adds, with about 30 GB of data, once a month.

Time Machine is not really suitable for this. The only way I can see it could do would be to an installation to be excluded from the backup disk, then do the backup Time respective Machine. Then return the exclusion so the opposite road is excluded, then backup to the backup Time opposite Machine.

This should be clear would be a completely manual process, in fact you realistic would switch off the Machine in time to avoid that it auto backup on the drive bad between manual backups.

However other backup programs more sophisticated pourrait be configured to do this automatically.

  • Hi, Firefox does create backups of autmatic of bookmarks, then save them in a default location?

I had to reset my PC & re - install FF without first using a manual backup of bookmarks. The reset process apparently retains all data files, but does not keep Apps. I hope I can do my new Firefox to the old bookmarks file and... Hey presto... I retrieve my favorites?
(Thanks in advance for your suggestions)

The usual kind of reset in recent versions of Windows keeps your old user folder but it moving here:

    C:\Windows.old\Users\your-user-name\

You will find this file? If so, your Firefox data are probably here - and here's how I suggest to access:

First of all, it would be useful to set windows to display the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

    Then click in:

    Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\

Note: you may find a cache under AppData\Local folder, but everything important is under AppData\Roaming.

Here you can find one or several folders named random semi. Who has most recently updated content is probably the one you want to restore from.

    Bookmarks only

Go down the old bookmarkbackups folder and copy the last two backups in a location such as the desktop.

The restore feature will replace the bookmarks in Firefox by default (and what you added since the reset) with all like bookmarks. If you want preserve newly added bookmarks, use the first, export function before the restore, then the import function later. The following articles have details:

    Success?

    Complete restoration

This post has my suggested procedure to resurrect your old wide profile in your new installation of Firefox. Please note the use of the copy instead of move throughout the process. This allows you to try again if it fails somewhere along the way.

  • I have a new iMac and I want to make a backup of my iPhone, I lost my dates of the will? because in this computer I have no backup I made before

    Hello

I bought an air iMac, and now I would like to make a backup of my iPhone on this computer.

but the question is, if I do not have the backup that I did before, it is possible that I lost my dates?

because the computer I had entered is not an iMac.

    Thank you

    Francesca

    Hello Francesca Montani,.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

Congratulations on your new iMac! I understand from your message that you want to create a backfile to your iPhone 5 c, but are afraid of losing the data on it. I know how it is important for you to keep your data on your iPhone 5 c and to create a backup file for it.

When you plug your iPhone 5 c in your new iMac, iTunes should open. Your iPhone 5 c should also receive a message asking if you trust the computer. Go ahead and trust of the computer.

iTunes should display a page that says: Welcome to iTunes and you give 2 options. You want to choose the option to play up like new. Don't worry, it will not erase anything from your iPhone. The next page, you should see if the page summary of the iPhone. You should see a picture of an iPhone and a description.

In the middle of the right side, you should see a section called manually backup and restore. To create a backup file, select Back Up Now. This article has steps and a picture to help you create an iTunes up. I have also highlighted the steps below:

The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

    iTunes

    1. Open iTunes and connect your device to your computer.
    2. If a message asks you to Trust This Computer or device password, follow the steps on the screen. If you have forgotten your password, get help.
    3. Select your iPad, iPhone or iPod when it appears in iTunes. If your device does not appear in iTunes, know what to do.
    4. If you want to save data of health and activity of your device iOS or Apple Watch, you must encrypt your backup: check the box called Encrypt [device] backup and create a memorable password.
Write down your password and store it somewhere safe, because there is no way to recover your backups iTunes without this password.
If you do not need to save your health data and activity, you can make a backup that is not encrypted. Just click Back Up Now.
    5. After the end of the process, you can see if your backup completed successfully in the iTunes preferences > devices. You should see the name of your device with the date and time that iTunes created the backup. If you encrypted your backup, you should also see next to the name of your device.

    Best regards
