  First thing, I would say that it is a recent issue is to use the system restore to a date when the sound worked OK.

  If this does not work, connect a headset to see if the sound is returned to its former glory. It will also be interesting to try external speakers too. In addition, perform a reset on the screen, just in case.

  If you are still having sound problems, go to the Device Manager & uninstall all audio devices. Restart your PC and Windows will now re - install the. Once done, restart - check sound levels.

  Finally, if it STILL does not work, back up & reinstall Windows from your recovery or disk partition. Only then can we check if your sound card is at fault. If, after a recovery, there are still questions, then a new sound card will not solve the problem!

• Not changed map of video on HP m8400f desktop; Cannot install the Driver

  Card video NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT to my HP Pavilion m8400f Desktop computer has failed. replace the defective video card with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 video card.  Display is back, but now the computer is SUPER SLOW.  I can't get access to enough RAM to install the CD for the driver for the new card!  Tried Safe Mode - could not install the software driver on the CD.  Simple operations (such as opening Windows Explorer) is about 3 minutes.  The HP Startup Repair utility takes forever.  I want to run Norton Antivirus, but the computer is so SLOW that it takes an hour to see my desktop icons.  I put my old card back video; the graphics have been shredded as 'The Matrix' and startup performance was just as slow.  Any suggestions (in addition to buying a new computer)?  Can't the basic functions of Mode safe without the video card?

  (Sigh) Given that the CPU of the computer of my 6 year old works 100% (even with only a race application), I decided to cut my losses and buy a new HP Envy 700-327c desktop PC.  In the meantime, I do backups of files from my old PC to an external hard drive; What was once taking 10 minutes is literally take 10 DAYS because the CPU is running so SLOW.  Thanks for your help.

• Double partitioned Pavillion Desktop does not start in Windows 8

  I have a desktop HP Pavilion partitioned with Ubuntu installed next to Windows 8. For the most part, I'm working on Ubuntu, half, which is fine, but I have some important files on the windows half too. Recently, when I tried to start Windows in the boot selection menu, a long stream of errors came up through the screen and put me right back to the beginning. Something along the lines of 'invalid path UEFI.

  I was also informed that the Ubuntu Startup Repair utility should work to fix, and I tried to run a live CD of Kubuntu. The problem is, the computer will not also boot from CD - I changed the boot order to make it work, but he acts as if there is no disk in the drive.   So, I U2415 on the way, as well as a cheap temporary video card with HDMI but no claim of MHL. To simply use an HDMI cable or a cable MHL support? If a cable can now support regular HDMI and HDMI (MHL) on the road then I suppose I should get this one.

  I would switch to four memory cards 1 GB to 4 GB of Ram.

  Can the o/s hardware support and such configuration?

  Illgp, welcome to the forum.

  The operating system (OS) is 32-bit.  Therefore, you can install 4 GB of memory, but only 3.25 GB will be used by the operating system.  This is your computer on Crucial'smemory.  Crucial makes good, memory at a reasonable price.  Read the information on the page I provided so that you need to know.  Do not hesitate to ask help from customer support.  They are very useful.

• The Pavillion desktop hard drive cage removal

  My computer warns of hard drive failure imminent, so I record everything with cloning software, got a new drive and opened the compujter to disks.

  My computer has a "flag" on the front, but no label product identification!  Support forum for HPs shows how to remove the hard drive on two different cage styles desktop Pavilion, but mine is completely different.  Because I can't find a model number or product, I can't ask HP about it through their support email system.

  The right side of the casing comes off, but the left side is riveted in place permanently.  There are two screws holding the cage to the frame, but after removing the cage remains stationary.

  Any suggestions?

  I can't understand how to operate the first CC 2015 with my GPU (AMD Radeon 7730 M). It gives me an error message and not the lauch. Whenever I have to disable the card so I can launch the first. I worked very well with the 2014 version. Then I've upgraded and CC 2015 and it will not start. I read some people saying there is a conflict with some AMD drivers, then I disabled my card and first CC 2015 really worked without computers. Someone had this problem?

  Since you can see things on your computer and working with Pr off AMD card, you probably have a graphic chip Intel integrated on your CPU or the motherboard.  I activate the AMD card, then turn off the Intel chip in the Device Manager or the BIOS/UEFI.  Which should allow Pr work with the AMD card and do all kinds of goodness OpenCL available to you.

• HP PAVILION SLIMLINE S3370.UK: update ATI 2400HD to one with HDMI graphics card

  Looking for some advice - I have this HP PAVILLION S3370 with this 2400HD ATI graphics card machine

  The reason why I'm looking to upgrade the card is simply for HDMI support. I have bought converters and VGA splitters but had problems with resolutions where I'd get a display on a screen and a message put on the other, so I thought that I should just upgrade the card to one that has two vga and a HDMI output in this way I can project to the second screen and with a card with the sopport software update I should be able to adapt to the screen with scaling options - as I can on my other machine - and yet always use the computer screen when I want to sit at my desk.

  The problem I have is the technical terms of the cards. I uderstand that due to having a HP Slimline I need a low profile & PCI Express x 16 card but newer cards make no mention of DDR2 SDRAM - and instead, I know GDDR3 - I'm asuming it is just the memory of the card use - type, but that would be coimpatable with the installation of my machine?

  For example this map would be a suitable replacement? EVGA NVIDIA GT 610 Graphics Card - 1 GB If Yes can you contact why. If this is not suitable could make you alternative suggestions - thank you.

  I apologize for the niavity of this issue - but it's been years since I have been embarrassed to have to upgrade graphics cards and I forgot the more I find myself with. I am based in the United Kingdom and the machine itself is running Windows 10 - the current graphics card manages the Sturmovik game Sim plane no problem and while I want to really just support HDMI for streaming movies I don't want to lose my support in game.

  I think you should be able to squeak by with this card and derisory of your PC power supply 160W.

  The AMD Radeon attracts a maximum of about 20 Watts and the GT610 around 29 Watts.  IMO, 9 Watts is not that big of a difference to blow your PC power.

  I see that it comes with low profile brackets, so there is no problem with this arrangement, etc.

  You're right about the memory.  That concern me too much back in the day, that the memory graphics specification did not spec PC's memory.  Graphics memory is independent of the PC's memory, and there is no conflict.

  The only thing I don't know... but easy enough to fix.

  The PC being produced in 2007 may have a BIOS that does not include how video cards with HDMI ports work regarding audio.

  On these old PC several times when you install a video card with HDMI output, the PC think that not only you have installed a video card, but that you have also installed a sound card (because of the HD audio chip on the video card).

  Thus, the BIOS only disables the video edge, it also disables the audio system too.

  So, after installing the video card and drivers, if your integrated sound card is missing, restart the PC, go into the BIOS, look for the audio setting on Board (it cannot exist without first adding the video card, so there may be no use in looking for it now).  You can watch now of course, but do not be alarmed if it does not exist.

  Audio setting will be set to auto or off.

  Change the active setting. Save the setting here where you made the change, and again when you exit the BIOS.

  After reboot and return to Windows, integrated audio system needs to be restored and the HDMI audio works if HDMI cable connection is detected.

  Another reminder... before install you your new video card, make sure that you uninstall the current drivers.

  To do this, go to Device Manager, click to expand the category of device display cards, do a right-click on the map of chart amd radeon HD 2400 that there are listed, select uninstall, select uninstall driver.

  Do not restart the PC you are prompted.

  Go to the menu programs in the Control Panel, then uninstall all current AMD Catalyst software.

  Once this is done, stop, disconnect the PC and remove and replace the video card in your PC.

  I have connected the HDMI cable to connect the TV to the HP laptop.  The TV shows no video or audio output.  I've updated the BIOS, Qualcomm, Realtek HD audio and Synaptics touchpad driver wireless drivers from the HP site.  I installed the HP support assistant who doesn't show that my video class driver is Microsoft Basic graphics card.  I couldn't find an HDMI driver.  Am I missing any update driver or chipset?

  Have you tried right clicking on the shortcut to start Palm Desktop and choose 'run as administrator '?

• 32L1375D - no sound on HDMI using PC not connected

  My HDTV has been replaced by Toshiba (backlight went) the new tv is a 32L1375DB.
  Everything seems fine, except when I connect to my PC via HDMI I have no sound.

  I have check and out HDMI AMD is selected by default on my pc windows 7 (processor i5, 8 GB ram, AMD HD 5870 graphics card). But under supported formats says 0.

  Audio over HDMI works perfectly on old TV and nothing else on the system has changed. The xbox, which is also connected to the new TV works fine. I tried the HDMI cable from the Xbox with the tv and tried on the two hdmi ports on the TV with the same result, big no picture no sound.

  Someone else had this problem? Can someone give me advice on how to solve it?

  Sorry mate, but I guess that this issue has nothing to do with the Toshiba TV but your PC settings.
  Usually, you have to choose the HDMI (or digital) in the settings of your PC.
  Panel of-> sound-> the Read tab

  Here you will see all available devices. In order to get the sound through HDMI out you must choose this device as default.
