• Masters folder structure and iCloud limiting.

  Recently tried to return to the Photos to see how it feels with Sierra and using a program which produces extensions that I love for external editing of photo editing. I am wanting to integration through devices, iPads, iPhones, etc.

  I imported my images, 260 GB so and 35,000 points and created a new library. Out of curiosity I watched the masters record and it has the usual structure up to the date on which I imported the but they are all in a single folder (the date of importation). Although they were from many files, I did just pictures of my library of images. It is a library which dates back to 2001 or more. (I don't have a solid backup in place plan...)

  Masters record is not organized by the date of the photo capture, but the date of the session of import - year, month, day of the import.  It was the same in Aperture and iPhoto. So, if you have imported the photos on the same day, they will be in the same folder.

  All the photos in the photo library of the system will download to iCloud, if you enable iCloud photo library.  More than one library allows to limit the upload selected photos. • Opening, lack of masters after importing the iPhoto library

  I have a large (about 14 000 pictures) iPhoto library, which seems to work correctly when opened directly into iPhoto 9.6.1 or directly in Aperture 3.6. When open in one of those, all the "originals" or the "masters" can be located, and there is no problem.

  I want to merge this library in a large Aperture library. I tried to do this using file-> import-> library, who ran with no error message. After the work of import, most photos imported into iPhoto show an error icon, indicating that they are absent from their master. There are about 9 500 photos with masters missing, according to opening. I can use the tool to "Locate the referenced files", and then I see all these pictures with masters missing have "null" as the name of the volume in their way, and their path begins with the year of the import job.   To reconnect the master, I can navigate to the iPhoto library container and click the 'Masters' folder in the library container. As soon as I click on the folder of "Masters", the tool referenced files locates the record (since the rest of the path matches). See the screenshot:

  This method will not work for me, however, because the button "Log everything" does nothing.   have you tried to repair or rebuild the iPhoto library before trying to merge into the Aperture library (Aperture 3 User Manual: repair and rebuild your Aperture library)?

  is the library with the iPhoto in question on an external disk library?  If so, how the hard drive is formatted?

I then tried Google pictures and to my surprise, the pictures I deleted still get uploaded to Google pictures even if I them deleted on my Mac, still 300 + of them.

  I am looking for .mov in the masters in my library folder, and I always find my deleted videos. I tried to use unwanted CleanMyMac to photo but it is not deleted.

  Is it possible to remove the so-called "deleted" photos and videos without completely deleting my library of Photos, or should I make a cool library to start over?

  Yes, they are all necessary, no, you cannot remove an any of them, and if you don't you will damage the library.

  So, once again: no duplicates, nothing to delete.

  1. move the library on an external drive. The easy way to do that is to get a small flash drive and leave it permanently attached to your Mac,

  2. get a bigger internal drive.

  That's all.

  I clean my system and hoped that someone can tell me if my Masters iPhoto file was separated altogether from the new master files of Photos?  These two files communicate with each other, or they are completely independent of each other?  I use pictures now, and I guess my pictures, it draws from its own masters file.  Can I safely delete the masters iPhoto without losing all the photos?  Masters iPhoto file is approx. 113GB and the file Photos Masters is about 140 GB, so I guess they are independent of each other.  I appreciate the help.  Thank you!

  Hello Momto2,

  Thank you for posting.  The steps that you talk in aid only appear when you place media (disc) Virgin in the drive.  Once you format the disk, formatting can be changed, unless you use a rewritable disc.  So to answer your question, the only way to have the other type of format is using another drive and recreate the CD.

  Before that you can copy files to a CD or DVD, the disc must first be prepared using a process called formatting. There are several ways to format a CD or DVD drive. The choice of format determines which computers and other devices will be able to read the disc.

  1. Insert a disc into your computer's DVD or CD drive.

  2. In the dialog box that appears, click on burn the files to disc.

  3. In the engraving, a disc dialog box, type a name for your new drive.

  4. Click Show formatting options, and then click one of the following formatting options:

     • Live file system

     • Mastered

  5. Click next to prepare the drive.

• My burned disc will show on other computers, even if I chose the format "mastered".

  Recently, I burned a DVD however, even after the selection "MASTERED" it still will not display on any other system, I tried all the help advice on closing and finalize a CD/DVD, but always without success.   Due to virus I had to rebuild PC using the RECOVERY partition on hard drive. All windows updates have been applied to date (August 2011). Before the virus problem (July 2011) WAS able TO SELECT THE "MASTERED" OPTION WHEN YOU are GOING to USE WINDOWS TO BURN a VIRGIN DVD + r. NEW once AGAIN, this WORKED BEFORE, NOW THE MASTER OPTION IS GRAYED OUT.  I have a brand new DVD + R blank and tried several of them thinking it was the disk (I've used this same brand (magnavox) DVD + R 4 years now never this problem of the "controlled" option is grayed out.) I use the same DVD burner which came with the PC and it allowed me to select the option "Mastered" last month (July 2011). I am using Windows HomePrem 32-bit OS (originial system that came with PC and this allowed me to select the mastered option last month. I applied all the updates Win at present. I have no other problems with the PC. Once again, driving the nail: this WORKED BEFORE, last month on the exact same hardware and the software/OS (Juillet2011), then why this option appears GRAYED out now?  This question has been asked before and 'experts' simply stressed totally USELESS MS pages showing how to select either under control or direct - I DO NOT NEED THIS HELP as I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO SELECT either option and what each is for. • Burn a disc > mastered is unavailable / greyed.

  Help!  Just got my new Blu Ray Sony burner and 35 compatible bd - r media.  When I try to format it, I get an error.  I thought the problem, it's live file system vs mastered, and I need to choose the mastered option.  However, the ISO image is not available.  It is grayed out.  It is a Vista 64-bit operating system.  I looked everywhere and found no answers on how to turn on the option of the ISO image.  Someone can explain why this option is not available or how to turn it on?  I have updated the firmware of this player.  Vista sees very well.  It drives me crazy and I feel like I've been had and wasted a 140 $.  Please help on this issue, if not for me, but all others who cannot find an answer to this problem.  For the record, I am not a newbie, but am very good at working on computers.  Why mastered is grayed out?
