  Just got a laptop computer to support the lab and installed Labview. For reasons that I don't have understands THAT MAX does not see the com and USB ports in the laptop. The IT Department gacve my rights to admin ID. Any ideas what's happening?

  Dennis, as usual, is correct.  Please check if you have installed NI-VISA.  There is an article in the knowledge base on the way in which com ports are not in MAX unless NI-VISA is installed.  The link to this article is below.

  How to display a thumbnail view of pictures?  When I open the folder what I see is a generic panoramic picture rather than individual images.  My vista does not list the thumbnails in the dropdown display menu.  Before updating the Windows I used to be able to see thumbnails of my photos views when I opened the files with images inside.

  Here's a possibility... go to... Start ORB / Control Panel.
  Folder options / tab / files and folders / uncheck
  "Always show icons, never thumbnails" / apply / OK.

  (If files do not appear... open the fall
  window and choose... All files)

  Click (highlight) left the files and the left on the Open button.

  You can see the files in the "Multimedia content" pane

  In the right column... left click on the tab "Output"...

  Open the drop directory window and choose an output folder.
  (This is where you will find your converted file)

  On the left, click on the button "encode".

  Wait... video encoding CPU intensive and can
  be a slow process. It is always best if you do not have
  multi-task while files are encoded.

  Now... try import you again. File WMV in Movie Maker.

• MAX does not display the option "features an Interfaces"-not able to configure any device

  I am facing a weird problem. I have LV2009 SP1, MAX 4.6 and DAQ 8.9.5 installed in my PC. Note here that LV2009 SP1 is accompanied by DAQ 4.6.2 9.0 & MAX. But for a project to support that I installed DAQ 8.9.5 & 4.6.0.Now MAX MAX displays only the 'Software' and the 'IVI Drivers"under my system and also lists the"Remote System". But there is no list of the devices and Interfaces. What could be the problem? When I upgraded to the DAQ 9.0, MAX was perfect. But I can't use it for my project because the DAQ 9.0 architecture is very different from older versions (one is that it requires a manual uninstall of the old versions of data acquisition before installing important DAQ 9.0). That being said it's that DAQ 8.9.5 cannot be used with LV2009 SP1? Should I install a patch for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• MAX does not see the cards as DAQmx

  I have three cards OR in my machine: PCI-6602, 6120-PCI and PCI-MIO-16-4 (aka PCI-6040E).  For some reason any my measurement & automation explore (MAX) does not see them I expect.  He sees the card PCI - MIO in the DAQmx and NOR-traditional DAQ records, but he sees that the other two in the traditional NO-DAQ folder.  I should be seeing them all DAQmx AFAIK.  I read in a post on this forum that I can be a corrupted database MAX; so, I renamed and restarted does not.  I have applications that I programmed in Delphi that see, acess and use all three cards using traditional DAQ, so I know they work, at least to some extent.  When I use LabVIEW, he sees only the PCI - MIO map for operations of DAQmx and I'd like to find a way to make all three of them consider DAQmx.  I believe all three cards are compatible with traditional DAQ or DAQmx.  My installed software versions are: LabVIEW 7.0, MAX 4.2.1.3001, NOR-Spy 2.0.0.16, 1.70 OR-488. 2 NOR-DAQmx 7.0.7f0, NOR-PAL 2.0.0 OR-SWITCH 2.00.49156, NI-VISA 3.1, NOR-DAQ 7.4.4f7 traditional (I also tried 6.9.3f4 version without success).

  I hope that it is something with a simple fix.

  Did you look in the Readme for DAQmx 7.0? It was the first version and these devices were not yet supported. The latest version of DAQmx you can perform with LabVIEW 7.0 is version 8.1. These cards are listed as being supported.

• Why 'Device and Interface' lack of tree MAX Config?

  I am trying to integrate a range of LeCroy WS64MXs with LabView, but no luck so far.  In the measurement and Automation Explorer program, there is no worksheet named "Devices and Interfaces" in the configuration tree.  All I have is 'My system-> software' and 'remote systems.  Max version 4.5.0f0.  This sheet should be there by default and if not, how it added to the tree?

• MAX does not detect the module

  I am part of a team of the FRC and putting in place a Board very easy test to use to test the components.

  I try to use a cDAQ-9171 therefor, with the modules normal FRC - 9201 analog, 9403 for digital and 9472 solenoid.

  When I connect the cDAQ to the computer, MAX detects it and displays it in the tree view on the left. However, when I insert a module (9403), it does not detect it.

  I can do a device simulated, and a simulated inside that module and which works very well. But of course that accomplishes nothing.

  Any ideas? I tried Googling this problem, but I guess that my research skills need work because I found nothing.

• Printer does not appear in "devices and printers".

  I recently "upgraded" to Windows 8, after that my laptop was stolen and have spent hours trying to restore comparable to my new functionality.

  My workhorse printer, I've used extensively with Windows 7, is a EPSON Artisan 1430

  I have correctly installed by download on the new computer and print a test page, but the printer does not appear in the devices and printers folder, so I can't use it.

  It is listed in the Device Manager folder, under the Print Queue, but of course, it is not usable there. Who does nothing but confirm that it is installed.

  My devices folder and shows the default two printers printers I don't have not and CUTE PDF, which I installed it without problems.

  Can someone help me with this headache?

• Mirage does not list the info of the base for certain machines...

  Impossible for the life of me figure out why Mirage does not show what base layer has a machine. It seems random see photo below. When the base coat is not listed, you can apply layers app because the option is grayed out. The only way I can fix it, is to re - allocate a base layer. but isn't ideal...

  I can only imagine that you have may have removed a CVD and Centraliced the CVD again without choosing a BaseLayer.

  If you do this, then you will get CVDs where no BaseLayer will be shown and then the only way to solve this is really to give the last reused BaseLayer on this device.

  If it appears out of the blue so it's a bug of Mirage and you open a support for this call.

• MAX does not see the cRIO modules!

  I have a cRIO-9073 and C 3 (9401, 9239, 9263) modules installed in slots 1-3 respectivly. I can configure the chassis correctly upon arrival 2 months ago and I managed to acquire by a module 9234. Now that the 3 mentioned c modules arrived I installed and have a problem - MAX of nothingness, or analysis of LabVIEW RT engine cannot see modules. Attached are MAX.png and DiscoveryStatus.png that depict. NOR-RIO is version 4.00 and corresponding set is completely downloaded to the cRIO. I do not understand the concept of software cRIO yet but I'm positive, that is the same as used to work the first time that I had tried. The network is OK - host is 100.0.0.1, cRIO is 100.0.0.100 and they see.

  I susspected that perhaps specific drivers are needed for these particular C failet, but I can't verify that the status of software.

  Basic details to accept and understand the CompactRIO concept is spread across many different documents, and it's really hard for the newbees to grasp, so debug/fix situations.

  Does anyone have an idea what is causing my problem?

  This message can be considered "solved!" I was finally able to remove the program with the HP disk. I tried to reinstall (overwrite) the program, but I received a message that the installer has detected that the program is already installed. I wanted to try it manually, so I 'opened' the disc, you click on "setup" and received the same message. At this point, I was ready to try anything and noticed the "Launcher" icon and thought, what the heck, can't hurt to try at this stage, so I clicked it. I wasn't expecting the screen, I had, who said that it would be to uninstall the program. I thought it was too good to be true and easy way (after all), but after that it's over, I checked my Add/Remove programs and my 'problem' program was gone.

  Thought I would post this so anyone who might encounter the same problem can try this.

• Add-ons Manager does not list the Add-ons

  I've updated to Firefox 6.0. Since doing so, the Add-ons Manager does not appear Add-ons (it is installed or those who have been disabled by the upgrade).

  The Add-ons Manager simply displays an hourglass "Loading" and no progress.

  A number of my modules was not suitable for Firefox 6.0 and were disabled during the production of process that the Manager screen does not load then I don't see a checklist of these installed or disabled. They appear in the troubleshooting information.

  Make sure that the "Get Add-ons" tab is not enabled on the subject: addons page.
  
  You can click on the tab 'Extensions' to see the installed extensions.
