  When you download MBAM (free version) all real-time protection programs have to be turned off to allow the download and install to be correct.  I couldn't find the answer to this question.  I noticed in the discussions on the forum that Windows Defender must be disabled, but have not seen others.  Also, I don't know if the product is compatible to Vista SP1.  I guess it is.

  Note to have Norton and Avira active and running is a bad idea. MBAM free is very good, Pro may also conflict with your primary security package, despite what manufacturers State MBAM.

• Windows XP - Explorer runs constantly - could not delete Explorer. The CPU runs at around 70%, constantly.

  Thanks for trying to answer.  I used Norton scan. Not sure, malicious software, but the system is now clean. The Explorer is still running the CPU at @ 70%. With nothing else open but the Manager of the tasks, the CPU still works. I thought that if I deleted the program explore it would interrupt the CPU of the race. The processor is running, and make the unit run very slowly.   Jay

  What do you mean by "delete"? Files can be deleted. But programs must usually be uninstalled, which is a different process.
  Also, you seem to be confusing the following three terms:
  Windows Explorer (which, as Brandon2003 pointed out) allows you to navigate your file system. When you open a folder (such as My Documents), you use Windows Explorer. In the Task Manager, it appears as explorer.exe.
  Internet Explorer allows you to surf on Web pages. In the Task Manager, it appears as iexplore.exe (and probably several instances of what appears there).
  The Explorer - I don't really know what it is!
  Both Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are part of Windows XP. And even if you wanted to delete either, it would be impossible! Of course, you can choose to run an another browser like Firefox, Opera, Chrome, etc instead.

  I have a recurring problem with a file marked by Advanced SystemCare. The file is called kvthost.exe and is located in the Windows system32 folder. Advanced SystemCare is an of Gen Trojan horse and spyware. It cleans only to find when I scan after a week or two...

  Does anyone know what kvthost.exe is. By looking at the file properties, it shows as being created in 2003 and accessed for the last time in 2008 with a 1.1 MB file size.

• My XP OS staged delete me a file in my registry. How?

  I have two dialog boxes that appear when I start my Dell Dimension 4800 and both refer to the same file.  The second area advises me to search for the file in question, and without his discovery, and then delete the registry.  I know this is a delicate matter and does not, but apparently it's an operation I can perform (or my XP OS would not order me to do) and while I was looking for a procedure that would allow me to do.

  Is not like Norton AV software, scanners, they request that single scan for nasties when you run the program and will not interfere with Norton, these can be performed once a week to ensure that you are not infected. Don't forget that you update before each weekly analysis.

  I've upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista a couple of days. I have just run CA Anti-Spy (Yahoo toolbar) and he found the following threat: Trojan.Win32.StartPage.fw it has been impossible to remove this threat. I also ran Adaware, Norton IS 2009 and Spyware Doctor (that I bought just to eliminate this threat) and all gave my PC a clean bill of health. I did a bit of research and it seems that this question relates to the mfplay.dll file in Windows 7. Therefore, can I deny the Trojan horse has highlighted by CA Anti-Spy as no risk or should I delete the file mfplay.dll as some people have recommended? I understand that it is used by Microsoft to track users? Any advice on how I can fix this would be appreciated, thanks.

  NIS 2010 got a decent review, but I do not put Norton products on my clients machines. If you have been happy with it and want to keep, then OK. For my clients, I offer (commercial) NOD32, Avast or Avira (free versions) and use Windows Firewall. I would definitely uninstall Ad-aware and Spyware Doctor. You already have Windows Defender for protection anti-spyware in real-time. I love Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware ("MBAM", free version) and place it on my clients machines. It should be updated and run manually on a regular basis.

  If you keep the NIS, then I would eliminate the rest and use such MBAM as described above. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  HP DV 7 WNDOWS 7 just recently, when I click on a link or an icon on desktop to browse the web, the address appears on the browser bar but it takes ages to open and sometimes I have to keep clicking on the symbol to update it so that it opens, and then when they open some sites, not all keep "not responding" I can't do a system restore I posted before my usual high tower do a system restore and this dialog box appears

  and you are doing malware cleaning mode safe mode with network you have the Net there, unless you use wireless

  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  Are you sure that you downloaded the free version? It is easy to become confused and download the paid version accidentally.
