McAfee SecurityCenter is disastrous

I had a lot of problems with McAfee Security Center that came with my new Dell 1500 running Vista sp0. It was causing crashes blue screen that seemed to be a compatibility issue with Google Earth.

For awhile, I had uninstalled McAfee and AVG, Zone Alarm and Spybot S & D instead... I had been running these years with windows XP without any problem... I thought I'd see if the problem with McAfee has cleared up so I tried to reinstall it today. I rebooted from the CD.

For some strange reason, he does not see the internet connection so I can't connect to re - register the program or to download updates. It may be a coincidence, but I cannot connect to my McAfee download site account using I.E.7 is... I get the IE cannot display the message on the web page. Looking at the map of the network on McAfee internet connection (wireless broadband on telephone line) being broken, which is not shown.

Is it me or McAfee is a waste of time? Maybe I should go back to the simple and free programs that I know work.

  • {A} Dell XPS 15 L502x McAfee SecurityCenter activation problem

As shown in the topic I have XPS L502x. This morning, I restored my phone to factory settings due to some very strange behaviour of my machine. Restore was successful no problem at all. After that restoration was complete I connected my computer to the internet and at the same time the product activation window McAfee SecurityCenter pop up.

Now, the problem is that it was al most 02:33 hours, that McAfee still connect to MaCafee.com. Even now, while I write this problem he still connects.

Before this last test, I restarted my computer several times out of desperation that can be restart will fix it. But I think I'm out of luck. Something else that my internet is running @100 % navigation, streaming and downloading are very well at max speed.

Please someone help me in this case.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Kind regards.

    Hi abidshahzad,

I replied to your other thread 2 days ago, but you don't have to answer.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/virus-spyware/f/3522/t/19454708.aspx

What kind of "odd behaviour" has been exposing your system that made you decide to restore?

How long lasts your McAfee subscription, and when she did start?

Before restoring the factory settings, your McAfee product had been registered and activated with success?

If so, connect to your McAfee account on the link below using the email address and the password that you used initially when the first record.

    https://home.McAfee.com/secure/protected/login.aspx?

Click the Subscription & Product tab, you see your subscription listed McAfee?

  • Firefox 7.0.1 installed yesterday. McAfee Security is active and up to date, but your check plugins does not recognize the components. No explanation on how to fix this problem. What should do?

In tools | Addons | Extensions, McAfee Scriptscan to Firefox 14.4.1 and McAfee Site Advisor 3.4.0 are apparently active, like the button disable is present.

In tools | Addons | Plugins, McAfee SecurityCenter 11.0.575.0, McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.4.0.135 and McAfee Virtual Technician 6.0.1501.0 even are apparently activated, because the button disable is present.

But when I click on "Check to see if your plugins are up to date", these last three McAfee components are 'plug-ins unknown '. The search button gives just links without end that I don't know what to do.

Silverlight 4.0.60831.0 (that I don't use, not even sure that it is / is), Adobe Acrobat 10.1.1.33, Shockwave for Director 11.6.1.629 (don't know what it is, either), Shockwave Flash 11.0.1.152 and QuickTime plugin 7.7.1.0 are all reported that up to date. I can't believe anything else is NOT up-to-date, as everything seems to be updated automatically. I know that RealPlayer or RealSomething just updated during all these misfortunes of installation.

Why Firefox doesn't recognize some components of McAfee in a single window and not in another? Why not recognize it all? My McAfee security (paid for and satisfying) is somehow disabled by Firefox? I am at risk when you use your browser?

The plugin check page acknowledges that some common plugins play the media on web pages and not of plugins added by as McAfee security software. So no need to worry about this. Just make sure you keep all your software up to date, especially software that deals with the access software and internet security (antivirus, firewall).

  • The difficulty to uninstall mcafee...

    Evening,

First time I did this... I'm trying to uninstall Mcafee so that I can have Windows defender. I read the markets here, which are excellent... But whenever I try to uninstall Mcafee, it won't let me. Said mcafee agent uses certain products. If anyone knows what I can do at this point? I have Windows Vista... Should I bother with uninstalling mcafee? I loaded the essential protection of microsoft and I read that you don't need both...

    Help!

    Forget about using Windows Defender:

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and it automatically disables the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

    If it's not:

  • Uninstallation of Mcafee final

I need to uninstall Mcafee SecurityCenter my Inspiron 531 so I can install Norton Security (our other PC it works). There seems to be a gazillion 'methods' to remove the Mcafee Mcafee itself, Dell and people with PCs is much smarter than me. So, I didn't record the Mcafee yet I should do this uninstall before or after? Should I follow the version of Mcafee with their little program (MCPR.exe) or Dell one? How do you disable the firewall and AV programs?  Apart from that, no real issues!

    Hey sreiner1995,

I don't know what version of McAfee, you have, but I'll assume that you have the version of McAfee SecurityCenter: 11.6 (what I use).

Open McAfee SecurityCenter > Web and Email Protection > firewall > ICS for Progams > Scroll and look for Firefox > click on Firefox, so it's highlighted > click Edit > turn Net Guard off > save

    That should do it.

It is really hard to tell what is causing this BSOD. Can you also tell us the code BSOD? This is important because if you can find a solution on the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

System Restore is always an option. This BSOD can be hardware or software related so I would try a system restore. ;)

Previously, McAfee SecurityCenter has been installed on my pc, but it has been replaced by McAfee Total Protectiononce the subscription has expired. [It isunderlining] I remember getting a Norton trial software installed at a given moment, but this has been removed to make room for software McAfee, to ensure that there is no conflict between the programs.

You should have installed McAfee Total Protection before as your McAfee Security Center subscription expires. If you're lucky, the following may solve your problem:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

1B. download the tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop:http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in # 1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. now run this triple McAfee fix: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

[Note that you you already downloaded the removal tool in my # 1 step b above.] You will restart three times: after uninstalling McAfee Total Protection; After you run the removal tool; and then the reinstallation of McAfee Total Protection.]

    5. after reinstalling McAfee Total Protection, manually & repeatedly update the app until you get a prompt "no update more".

    6. for good measure an another Windows update reset (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058), restart once again & test.

  • CycBot.B + Palevo Trojan cleaning

HI - although ' I run McAfee SecurityCenter protection in real time (+ automatic updates) and to check my PC with Windows Defender, AdAware, SpyBot R & D and malware removal of Microsoft (always up to date, full scans for all), I was alerted that my PC is infected by a trojan (s). Defender argued that it had quarantined / removed it. After that, I checked with McAfee, MMSR, Defender & AdAware, who claims that the PC was clean again. However, SpyBot showed up to 5 or 6 Trojan related entries (identified as related to Win32/CycBot.B + 1 Ref. to Win32/Palevo). SpyBot has claimed to have solved the problem successfully, and a re-scan subsequent showed no other Trojan entries. Meanwhile, I was unable to connect to the internet, but corrected cela by disabling the LAN proxy server setting. Is is safe to conclude that the PC is clean? I always get a Windows File Protection alert indicating the files required for Windows to run correctly have been replaced by unrecognized versions and these must be replaced by the original versions to maintain stability. Any help would be very appreciated by ensuring that your PC is clean. Thank you very much. Neil

  • The computer hangs during startup until after latest upgrade of Windows 7

My new Dell has a little less than 3 months and so far has worked like a dream. It runs Windows 7. The latest Windows updates, which there were 3 were installed as I stopped last night. When I booted the pc this morning he hooked up with the following message: "Operation Applying 51 51 (\Registry\Machine\Components\...) update".

The pc reacts more than anything, so finally, I manually turned off and restarted. The system returns to a previous Restore Point. Later in the day, I turned off the pc how he downloaded 3 updates (probably the same ones again) and the same problem occurred when restarting later. The pc is running McAfee SecurityCenter, which has been pre-installed again.

Please can anyone help with advice for this problem?  Thank you.

    Peter

    Consider yourself lucky.

Because this update was 'critical', he went ahead and downloaded itself last night while I was asleep.

I woke up this morning to a glorious flashing cursor whenever I try to start.  My computer still runs beautifully, now it does not even start.

Thank God for this update, otherwise I might be able to get for the photoshops I was working on that.

Before restoring personal windows comes to talk here about starting of system restore and all the other _ with windows that never worked for me once, I already tried it.

  • Security Center does not.

McAfee SecurityCenter is currently ubavailable as the "Security Center" service is not started or was stopped. Please close this window, restart the computer (or start the "Security Center" service), and then open the Security Center again.

    Hi severe Gauthier.

Follow the suggestions and then check out.

    Method 1

Run the System File Checker tool.

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

    Method 2

You can run a scan complete antivirus.

    Microsoft safety scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-AU/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. He also does the disk check, and you may lose the amount of data.

  • Buffer overflow

Hello... I hope someone can help me! I just turned on my computer and when I try to open Internet Explorer, I get a message from my McAfee SecurityCenter, saying "Buffer Overflow blocked" with a yellow exclamation point. He then said:
McAfee has automatically blocked a buffer overflow.
    On this buffer overflow
    File: C:\Program may Explorer\iexplore.exe
Buffer overflows can cacuse legitimate programs to fail. Other programs that are the buffer overflows, however, can be used to damage your computer, compromising safety and damage important files.
    He asked me then either:
Confidence in the future to this activity
    Close this alert

So I can't get Internet Explorer to work. I get the same alert. I did some reading and saw that the overflow is an attack, and I hope the McAfee caught, but how to stop this buffer overflow so that I can get my computer working again? I am writing from another computer, since I can't get the internet right now.
