Hello world

I bought a new XPS 8300 & it comes with 18 months of McAffee

Is it still a bad choice & I should throw away & stay with my AVG, my old faithfull

I also run Spybot S & D, MBAM, & Spyware Blaster, as well as my D-Link router for my firewall

Am always will listen to any suggestion, the Group has to offer

Thanks to you all

Hi Bob:

Recently I bought an XPS 8300 (nice system!) which came with pre-installed McAfee.

I must tell you that I never activated McAfee and uninstalled as soon as POSSIBLE. I did so, based on my personal history of problems with McAfee (admittedly a long time ago), but also because many problems reported in this forum over the years with this McAfee AV. resisted not well the tests independent websites - I trust, and I understand not why Dell continues to consolidate this annoying with his PC AV.

I can't comment on AVG, I left years ago. I used the free Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE 2.0) on this system, with no regrets.

To be honest, if you are behind a hardware firewall using Windows 7 and practicing safe surfing, I don't think it's important a bunch which AV you use. But I still recommend MSE as the simplest solution.
