  • difference between gateways, voice and Porter

    Hello

Someone might well want explain (or provide a url link) the main difference between the voice gateways and a guard?

    Concerning

    Hello

Your best source of information is the book of Cisco Press 'Cisco Voice Gateways and guardians (GWGK)' which explains these 2 more in detail. I have included information to help...

    The role of voice gateways:

In a VoIP environment, voice gateways are the interface between a VoIP network and the public switched telephone network (PSTN), a private branch exchange (PBX) or analog devices such as fax machines. In its form the simplest, a voice gateway has an IP interface and a legacy phone interface, and it manages the many tasks involved in translation between protocols and transmission formats.

At least one gateway is an essential element of any IP telephony system that interacts with the PSTN or analogue devices. In addition, when the front doors are configured correctly, many can resume when it is inaccessible to a Cisco CallManager.

The gateway that enables communication between the two networks by performing tasks such as these:

Interfacing with the PBX and the PSTN or IP network.

Support IP call control protocols, more than time-division multiplexing (TDM) call control protocols.

For calls between VoIP and PSTN closing networks and REPETITION of the call media and noting the call setup and teardown artist.

Providing additional services, like call hold and transfer.

Relay of DTMF multi-frequency (DTMF) tones.

Supporting modems and analog fax via the IP network.

In a Cisco CallManager network, a gateway must also do the following:

-Support the CallManager redundancy in replacement of spare CallManager.

-Support survival call when no CallManager is available.

Gateways communicate with other gateways, guards, their end points or their control agents, such as Cisco CallManager call or a PBX.

Protocols that use Cisco gateways for voice signaling and media are:

    Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP)

    H.323

    Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)

    Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP)

    Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP)

The role of guardians of the voice:

Access controllers help scale of large VoIP networks. Businesses that are geographically dispersed, networks of voice, or that have become so important that they are difficult to handle, could opt to segment their network. In a network of CallManager, you can create multiple clusters. In this case, you need to configure a full mesh of connections via the WAN IP to connect all segments or clusters. You need to configure the dialing information for each remote location on each bridge and CallManager cluster.

It is preferable to use the guards. In a network that has doormen, trunks are necessary only for the keeper and the goalkeeper keeps information of remote endpoint.

When you use access controllers, gateways and CallManager to register with their goalie. Doormen divide the network into 'zones', or groups of devices that fit to a particular access controller.

When an H.323 gateway receives a call that is intended for a remote phone, he asks the guard for the location of the endpoint.

If the call is for a different area, you can configure the guardian to allow it only if sufficient bandwidth is available. In more complex networks, you can use a directory gatekeeper to maintain information on all areas.

You can configure routers Cisco with the Cisco IOS appropriate as guardians H.323.

Any help would be appreciated... Gateway is only interested to collect money.  They have no interest in serving the poor suckers who buy their products (computer is 2 years old so it is out of warranty).

    Thanks for the reply.

Fortunately, I solved the problem myself (after 19 hours of stress).
The problem is that the recent hard disk has something different that no longer ages and makes pre-service pack 1 (SP1 solves the problem) versions of Windows 7 incompatible. My set of recovery disks have been created the day I bought the computer, which had no windows updates installed at the time.

There is an "easy solution" on the Microsoft support site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466753/en-us

Unfortunately, their method works only if you have a Windows 7 installation disc, which does most of the people who buy computers pre-built manufacturers. Essentially, the solution is to install SP1 from a disc when don't give you the possibility to load drivers during installation, an option that the gateway recovery disks.

So I thought that, theoretically, if I use my recovery discs to get a clean install on a hard drive that works, then use windows update to get updated (or at least to get SP1), and then make a set of NEW recovery disks (using windows backup: start > all programs > maintenance > Backup and Restore), I should be able to use these discs to install the new hard disk.

    It worked.

So for someone else who has this same problem with new hard disks, I hope that the above is easy to understand. If not, ask someone else more savvy and show them this thread. Do not forget that at the end to create new recovery disks, it will ask you if you also want to create a 'system' repair disc. DO THIS! This is the disk that you need to start from when you are ready to install.

Also: If your new hard drive is bigger than the one that you have created the new recovery disks, the partition on your new hard drive (once everything is installed) will be the same size as the one that you have created the records on. You will need to use a kind of editor of score for re - size. I recommend Gnome Partition Editor. http://www.gparted.org

Burn gparted Live CD and him, resize your partition, and you're done (google for more in-depth instructions).

Thank you, theloungelizardK, for the offer on the ISO, but I don't need. :)

  • Lync 2013, what is the solution

To date, Lync 2013 is compatible in some way?

If a customer makes a migration from 2010 to 2013, runs out of service?

How long Cisco solve this problem? Hello and thank you all

One step could be to say to your customers to complain to the 'provider' they always change

things for the worse, I don't see a real reason why they had to remove h.263. And if they change things why

they should not be able to support a standard way of h.264...

We tried at least with the customer of 2013 and which works with the advanced media gateway.

It will depend on what hardware you have in your network.

As it comes to the topic future ware, you couldn't get a straight answer here in the Forum.

I recommend you talk to your Cisco contact to get some information under the NDA.

  • Meeting of Lync hosted

Hello.  Is it possible for a registered point SCV endpoint to join a Lync hosted a meeting with several video participants?  I used the Lync deployment guide to integrate my Lync and VCS networks successfully, but I can't get this function runs.  I was wondering if it is still supported.  Thank you.

I can't say anything on the Polycom systems, but its two parts, what video and audio codecs that are used.

In these multipoint or live meeting call, seems like RTAudio and RTVideo.

These are supported for example with the Advanced Media Gateway also.

But in addition to point-to-point calls (which work well with the VCS itself, especially with the VCS X 7 B2BUA)

I can't say if there is any provider in addition to Microsoft supporting the multi-party internally of Lync.

I think that its using some SIP owner XML extension.

In any case, you might have a Cisco / Codian MCU connected to the VCS and host a multi-party meeting

with Cisco, Lync and 3 participants out there. It would also provide a continuous presence

and not only light up like Lync.

Further, let me quote part of the:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/Telepresence/infrastructure/VCs/config_guide/Cisco_VCS_Microsoft_OCS_2007_R2_and_Lync_2010_Deployment_Guide_X7-0.PDF

" To join a conference GPM/Lync (AV MCU)

Using a client MOC/Lync to invite someone else to join in the call does not work if the third endpoint is an endpoint registered to control VCS Cisco, or endpoint registered for control of VCS Cisco is already in the call and another GPM/Lync client is introduced in the call.

This is because when the MOC/Lync client invite someone else to join in a call, the MOC/Lync client tries to create a conference by using the e-mail owner Microsoft xml (in the SIP messages), and it is not supported by standards-based video endpoints.

Cisco VCS control or based on the video standards endpoints supports Microsoft owner signs.

Note, however, the use of Multiwa "y on endpoints can reach customers GPM/Lync in an ad-hoc conference (see the Cisco VCS Multiway deployment guide)". ""

To answer your question, no not on the Conference hosted Lync, but you can use a microcontroller of Cisco.

    Martin

  • Portal Oracle for DRDA 12 c for clusterware installation

Hello, we have tried to install DRDA 12 c on our clusterware RAC environment, but installing the software 12 c will not give us a screen as 11.2 that will ask us to select all clusternodes. Can someone explain how we do it?

I checked the download pages and a single download available.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Did you run the installer on the disk media gateway?  If so, all you need to do is choose on Oracle_home and instal it y.

For the other question on access to DB2 databases that you need to configure an instance of the gateway separate for each DB2, you want to access.

For example, you woul derwiche 2 gateway init files.

    initgtw1.ora - HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = database DB1

    initgtw2.ora - HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = DB2 database

If you still have problems with the installation could give you the details of the whichmedia you are using and the exact steps you followed?

    Kind regards

  • AWS provides an AMS SIP instance

The link below points to a version of the AMS, which refers to the "Extended" instance that allows 25-foot SIP.

Adobe Media Server 5 scope on the market of the AWS

Although no where on the page it refers SIP... and how to buy the 'Editor settings' configured ports do not show ports SIP 5060 or other necessary for SIP.

So... This offer SIP but failed to mention it?

If not is there a version/instance, which will be soon or currently available SIP?

Support for SIP ports has been deprecated in AMS for AMS 5.0.7.

This link lists Adobe Media Gateway as an abandoned product. It allowed the SIP feature in Flash Media Server.

  • SE connect - FMG - SIP confusion

    Hi all

We try to universal voice configuration for our project Connect.

The Cisco Call Recorder communicates with the server to connect, but we struggle to Connect and FMG to cooperate.

On the same host as Connect (it had been on its own server, although the behavior was apparently the same), we installed the FMG.

When you create a new provider to Test Dial-In Audio the process times out.

  • FMIS 4.5 SIP support?

I see in the product comparison matrix that FMIS 4.5 allows SIP ports, but I'm not find any documentation or API related configuration

Is there a documentation available? Flash Media Gateway has been deployed in FMIS? We can manage incoming calls from SIP with FMIS now?

    Thanks Nikhil.

In fact, I found the answer I needed. FMG has not been incorporated into FMS, it just comes with it. So, documentation isn't in the docs of FMS... installation of docs FMG with FMG.

  • Media Center 2005 crashed I loaded Windows XP sp2. Installing XP cannot load explorer.exe and another dll file... Need help or information on how to request recovery of microsoft disk MC2005... Gateway has not.

Help please... I have a gateway gt4024 designed with Media Center 2005. Recently, the system was not "acting accordingly so I tried to reload the OS." I realized that I didn't have the recovery disc, then I decided to load XP Professional I had on it. The law on the computer is as it has been installed correctly and then I get a message saying explorer.exe could not be loaded properly or the drive perhaps is corupted and the same message to another .dll file. Once completed, I can reboot and use the computer, but then the windows installer will not work and the drivers are still present on the hard drive. Now, I loaded the new operating system before and I know that pilots are not supposed to be always present on the system. I then put a new hardrive has had the same problem. So, I then took the hardrive and placed in another computer that was be a dell and load xp fine without error. Can someone point me in the right direction. I contacted gateway to another Media Center recoverydisk, but they said because the computer was no longer under warranty, that they did not have the specified disc and to contact Microsoft. A link would be useful.
