Messed up Windows Update?

So, in these last days I noticed my Shutdown button with the shield on this subject. I press the button, close my PC and not to think about until the next time that I stopped and realized that he was still there.

Finally, I click on windows update, and that's what I see:

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/5353/ummx.PNG

Any ideas?

I tried, and it would not even run the first regsvr32 jscript. I wondered why, and then it hit me. I had to replace the language of this French PC in English a few weeks ago and forgot about al.
I changed the default and what language you know?... my problem was solved!

Thank you very much for your promt reply. I'm sorry I couldn't get back sooner.

  • Pavilion G6: Windows Update is a mess...

    Hello

For the last few weeks, Windows Update has become a total mess on my computer.

Just to list the problems I encountered:

1 - Windows Update service consumes too much memory.

2 - when I try to download the updates, the progress at 0%/0kb

3 - I was forced to completely stop the service in the Device Manager, in order to avoid that this a huge memory consumption.

4 after not not downloading updates, the screen displays a message indicating that the configuration updates, before you stop... The same phenomenon occurs when starting upwards.

As suggested by these 4 problems, everything is messed up. I don't know exactly what caused this problem and exactly when it happened... But its something that I just noticed.

Can someone help me please to fix this problem and eventually determine the cause of it?

    Thank you.

    Hello:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to run the tool from Microsoft Windows Update hotfix.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=Windows-7

I had a big problem with Windows Update (would not download the updates), and after wasting hours trying to solve the problem by using the different suggestions I found (including the fix above tool), the only way I could solve the problem was to back up my files, and then reinstall the operating system.

It takes sometimes more time trying to solve the existing problem, only from scratch with a reset to factory or clean install the operating system.

  • Touhpad messed up with Windows update

last night, I installed the windows update, there had been talk to me for the last week or two. After it restarted my computer, my touchpad has completely messed up! I have no my right-click capability or my "slips" for other screens in windows 8. The only thing I can do with my computer is disabled so it is left click well enough until I have to go to the bottom of the present.  Anyone know what to do, or if someone has encountered this problem?
P.S. I tried to go into the settings of the touchpad, but the options that were there before had disappeared.

Thanks for your help Robert, I thought about it however. I just reinstalled the drivers (which do not work front for some reason any) for the touchpad, and it works again. An odd which was fine. I hope this helps for your case.

  • Windows Update has messed up my computer...?

I was going to restart my computer and saw the update windows... so I decided to update my computer so... When windows has finished updating and reloading... He would work for the first minute or so it would freeze... Freeze not literally... but nothing will work and I can still move the mouse but the mouse icon would be stuck in this symbol of loading... (the little blue circle)

At the beginning I thought I would just let it finish loading all that computers in train load... but 30 minutes later, its still stuck on loading... I did a hard reboot, and the same thing would happen... 30 seconds - 1 minute to load windows it would freeze just about anything under its weight...

So I thought the windows update screwed up my computer... I loaded in safe mode and tried to do a system restore, only to discover that my computer system restore has been disabled! ??? ... so now I have no idea what to do... someone please help me I have a lot of work to do... Thanks in advance

on the top of my head, here are my computer specs:

    Windows Vista SP1
    Intel Core i7 940
    12 GB of ram
    NVIDIA FX 1700

    Update on the situation:

I've posted on several technical forums and 2 of them have been asked to go into SafeMode Add/Remove programs and uninstall then windows updates...

The problem with that is that my computer does not record the fact that he just installed an update... It is said that the update performed on the computer has been on the 17th of September... the date today here is Sept. 23...

I uninstalled the 2 updates from 17 without prevail... the problem persists... I load windows in normal mode... and 30 sec-1 min later it freezes just on loading things...

Should I just keep uninstalling windows updates until the problem is solved?

No answer to this problem... two days of discussions of the forum tech 6... 1 hour 4 telephone conversation with microsoft support technology... end result? Reinstall Windows... GG

I understand the update of the program was done badly, it caused this for many people.

This has nothing to do with the Windows updates. It is a parameter of Firefox. Go to Options, Security tab and check passwords do not forget for sites. If this does not work, you may have a corrupt user profile.

    You must do two things:

    (1) turn off the Windows Update Service

    (2) change the settings so that Windows Update will not update drivers

    Hello:

As you know, Windows 10 has made it impossible to hide or ignore updates (or so it seems).

I found this tool from Microsoft that allows you to hide updates that don't work, or mess up your PC if they work, (as a synaptics touchpad update has done on my laptop).

I saved this tool on my PC for use in the future if necessary.

  • Windows Update checks constantly updates

It is why he will never show me updates available for me to download and install.  It s been like this for about a month and has been brought to my attention by the opinion of taskbar informing me that it was not updated to Windows Defender.  I ve tried most of the solutions found on these forums and others similar.

-J' rebooted and tried Windows Update - nothing works.
-J' closed all antivirus, antispyware, and firewall programs (Bitdefender Free Edition, Windows Defender, and ZoneAlarm free edition, respectively)-no result
-J' deleted Internet Explorer browsing history - nothing helps 8´s.
-J' confirmed that the Background Intelligent Transfer Service is set to automatic (delayed start), and its status is started.  The same with the Windows Update service - to no avail.
-In the network of Internet Properties Connections tab settings, I said to automatically detect settings - nothing helped.
-J' tried to reset Windows Update using Microsoft Fix It components in mode by default, and in aggressive mode.  I have to close it with the Task Manager and the Microsoft Fix It twice crashes so that "checking the status of Windows Update.  That is why - in vain.  (Note: I prefer not to change the register myself unless it's my last hope and have extremely clear instructions and detailed on what exacly do;) I heard that you can make a big mess if you do something wrong.)
-In the hope that after Service Pack 2 would solve the problem, I downloaded manually from Microsoft´s Web site, and it is installed.  However - in vain.
-J' have recently scanned for viruses using Bitdefender and have no and some time ago I manually downloaded the Windows Defender updates, scanned my computer of spyware with it and found nothing.

    My system:
    Dell Vostro 410
Windows Vista Business 32-bit, Service Pack 2
Intel Quad Core 2.66 ghz CPU
    3 GB RAM

I got my internet through a LinkSys Router, but Windows Update worked through before router with no problems, and none of its parameters have changed since then.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Continue with the rest of the steps, restart and report results.
Pleae also check in the event viewer for error messages about the same time, the updates are being installed.
Go to start, right click on computer, then select Viewer as well. Use the method copy paste & report back with the full error message.

  • Windows Update: failed. __Code 643 windows Update encountered an unknown error. _ * AND * __I cannot repair Windows 7 with the disc either. My guess is: these issues are related...? __

I have THREE questions which PEUVENT all be linked togther... What do you think?

[I am slot as Windows 7 Ultimate (free upgrade to Dell PC w/purchase) on a Dell 64 bit PC XPS435]
I've upgraded from Vista about 3 weeks ago.

#1 - Two weeks ago I had a problem with the installation of Nero/LiquidTV-TiVo to my PC... (this is also when the problem started).
To get the "Nero" thing figured out, I took the advice of someone on the Forum/Blog of Nero. The person has provided a lenghty explanation how to uninstall LiquidTV completely by removing the registry files... I don't really know what I'm doing in the registry, but everything that I helped my problem of Nero, but I couldn't tell you WHAT I deleted OR if I have deleted any bad subfolders or whatnot!... the next time I started my PC is when the NEW NUMBER is right.

#2 - On my next BOOT, Windows Update has found an IMPORTANT update:

A security update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x 64 systems (KB954430)

.. .and it fails every time, it tries to install saying this:

    Windows Update - failed

Code 643 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

"Get help with this error" provides little or no help... but it says this:
     "WindowsUpdate_00000643" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

All the research I did, the problem seems to be with Microsoft .NET Framework... .and all the solutions I found talking about it, "UNINSTALL all THE .NET FRAMEWORK & REINSTALL" ... I tried and there is no .NET Frameworks listed in Add/Remove, and when I press on ' VIEW INSTALLED UPDATES'... " on my PC it says, "no updates are installed on this computer"... what the _____?

#3 - Today, I thought I would just pop the WINDOWS 7 installation disc and do a repair/upgrade... It will not be upgraded.
He cycles most of the way through, then he Has STOPPED and says this:

The following problems prevent upgrade Windows. Cancel the upgrade, perform each task, (it lists only a SINGLE task), and then restart the upgrade to continue.

    • Windows needs to be restarted if necessary to system files can be changed before you continue.

Does not help restart. He tried 3 times and he ends up doing the same thing.
Is it possible I deleted something out of the register so far here and which is cause of all this?
If so, is it possible to fix WITHOUT doing a new install of Windows 7?
OR... anything can be a problem... Please HELP!

(And please note: I am a first year student college with specialization in computer science... but I just started last semester, so I don't know what I should... yet. - though, I SHOULD have known better than to mess with the registry!) My bad).

Thanks a lot for your time in advance, and I look forward to hear from you!  VikeMike4

    Erwan,
You must read this entire thread and the State, if you have tried the steps listed here or that you tried to fix the problem.  Take a look at this article, because it has a solution for 643 errors: KB971187

  • A no Windows Update has shown as successful

    I tried to install:

KB 890830 (Windows malicious removal tool) and
    Ko 905866 (Windows spam filter)

Today, by using Windows Update.  After having waited 20 minutes and seeing always 0% complete on the installation process on the first KB, I clicked on 'Stop install', and then Windows Update immediately proceeded to the second update (KB 905866) and completed.  No error occurred.

When I open Windows Update again and went to "update history", I see that both of these KB have been applied, but when I opened the "installed updates", I've seen the other installed.  I clicked on search for updates, but the first KB (890830) don't always appear as available updates.

I don't know if it has something to with a recent system restore I did.  Yesterday I restored my system to 11 July, the restore completed successfully, but I realized my MSE definitions are completely returned to 28 June (date where I applied a number of Windows updates), and when I tried to shut down windows, it took considerably more time to close.

Looks like my Windows Update history I messed up.  What should I do?

I am running Vista SP2.  Thank you very much.

Very general, do not think that the restoration of the system as a utility 'Save my ass', please. It's more a utility "well, I tried everything, then...". ».

When you reinstalled Windows, the free McAfee trial has been reinstalled, too. You should have uninstalled then downloaded and free trial / run theMcAfee Consumer products removal tool before installing MSE. (No, it does not matter that you don't use or activate it.)

The fact that you have so would explain well MSE freezing and the eccentric behavior Windows Mail & Windows Update. Follow these steps:

    1. Uninstall (McAfee) Site Advisor and whatever it is named "McAfee" listed in programs and features (seehttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Uninstall-or-change-a-program).

    2. download the Tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop.

    3. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    4. click right on the file you saved in #2 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    5. for good bass, open the following in IE & run the difficulty: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

    6. also, for good measure, open this article in Internet Explorer & run it in DEFAULT and AGGRESSIVE mode difficulty: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

    7. restart & test.

PS: The MRT downloaded & ran end. no need to do anything else.

  • Compatible Windows XP & Windows Update issues from July 2010

I am a technician in a company working with point of sale systems, and we quite regularly do the format / reinstall of Windows XP on different computers.  Since last week, every time the update to a new installation of XP SP3 using Windows Update, Windows and Internet Explorer have errors after the first batch of updates and reboot.  When Windows starts, an error box will appear that says something about an advpack.dll error.  Then, when you open IE, it loads the homepage correctly, but if you try to navigate to another Web site he returns the error "the requested lookup key is not found in any active activation context". I googled both of these errors and have found at least a partial solution to the latter; by setting the IE on the Windows Update home page, you can get the rest updates needed to make IE working again.  However, this always leads to problems with the software that we use, it is based on IE for some of its features.

Someone met these issues with Windows Update recently?  And are there solutions?  This makes my job extremely difficult.

Before anyone asks, I have experienced these problems on several computers (4 or 5 so far), and using at least two different copies of XP, it a regular retail SP3 install disk and the other an OEM SP3 disk.

I realized that if I download IE8 with the first batch of updates, I avoid the problem.  IE8 has apparently struck in the queue of priority on Windows Update to where he tried to install IE8 first, then a few fixes for IE6, which crushes IE8, make a mess of it all.
