Microsoft update error 3701

Hello
I am running vista 32 bit, I tried to update, but I got the error 3701. You have any suggestion to solve the problem please?

Thank you

Hello kar Natassa,.

Method 1:

There are a few things that could cause this problem, try the following steps in the first place.

1 open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, and then clicking Administrative Tools.

2. double-click on Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3 right-click the Windows Update service, and then click on stop.

4. click on Start, then click all programs, then click Accessories, and then right-click on command prompt and choose run as administrator.

Type:
net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll/s
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll/s
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wucltux.dll/s
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wudriver.dll/s
regsvr32 wups2.dll/s
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wups.dll/s
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuwebv.dll/s
net start wuauserv
output

Restart the system and see if it can be updated now.
If this does not resolve the issue you can also try to repair the BITS service by following the below article:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/940520.

Method 2:

Download the .net Framework removal tools "dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip" from the link below
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/attachment/8904493.ashx

Run the tool and you should only remove this version for which you receive error code. (i.e. you should only remove .NET Framework 3.5 & its application solutions packs)

Then, restart your computer and manually install the following updates in the order
(1) package Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 from the link below:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4e35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

(2) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 from the following link:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=ab99342f-5d1a-413D-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=en

(3) now, download & install .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 64

I hope this helps.

First of all, I went to the Microsoft Download Center and download a Windows XP SP3 ISO.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?ID=25129

I then installed DAEMON Tools and mounted the ISO and ran the Update Service Pack 3 from Microsoft.

I then rebooted my machine and re-visited the Windows Update page and this time it worked and downloaded and installed the updates.

Try the steps mentioned in the links below and check if this is useful:

(NOTE: important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.) In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.)
