MicroSoft update for Media Player shows never like a blocked 'Pop-up-Message' on My Favorites bar?

I had A Hacker today try to invade my computer through «free of the anti-viral» software download  I couldn't get the window closed so I shut down the computer. I called "The Geek Squad" and they said it was safe to start. "Two hours later, I received a request via my bookmarks bar, (a message had been blocked) that,"microsoft"wanted to update my windows media player.  I have never noticed an update come Microsoft like that then I saw deny access. Is it possible for an upcoming MicroSoft update in this way or how can I check the message without activating any download?  Later, I tried to find a Media Player update on the MicroSoft Web site, but did not find anything, however I'm not sure I was able to navigate as well as necessary to get the answer. Please help me.

donpatchi,
For Windows Media Player, it has settings to verify updates of the separate drive of the Windows Update service.  If you open WMP, click Tools > Options > Player tab, you can change the frequency of when checking updates.  Also if you click help there is an option to check for updates.  So if ever you see an update for WMP and you don't know if it is authentic, you can always start the process to search for updates yourself.

If Windows update is set to automatic, then you should see a notification for these updates come from the notification bar (the area of the taskbar near the clock).  As with WMP, if you ever have a question or a question about an update, you can start Windows Update yourself and watch the updates that are currently available prior to installation.

Since it sounds as if you may have picked up some types of malware here are a few links with some good info on the protection of the malware\virus.

Can I clean an already infected computer?

I hope this helps.

  • my Media Player shows no music, or rip music of the inserted disc. What can solve this problem

my Media Player shows no music, or rip music of the inserted disc. What can solve this problem

    Hey Lucky,

You can try the steps in the follwoign and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can try to rebuild the media player library, and then try to extract again

This problem can occur if the media library is corrupt. Rebuild the library and check if this solves the problem.

    Follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Player.

    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.

    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Player.

    b. Click Start, click Run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft and then click OK.

    c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.

    d. restart Windows Media Player.

    Method 2:

You can also try to change rip settings and check.

For more information, you can consult the following article:

  • Windows Media Player shows the library ghost

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I deleted everything in my music library, but Windows Media Player shows that I have several albums there. When I try to play songs, WMP says that they aren't there. When I try to delete them, nothing happens.

Something seems to have gotten corrupted, but I have no idea how to solve this problem.

You can erase the Media Player library altogether by the removal of the database

    Output Media Player

Run services.msc and stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

In the box start the search menu, enter %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft , and delete the folder Media Player.

Open Windows Media Player and it will recreate the database from scratch, so you will get the computer search for media files dialogue.

    I use Windows 7 update.
Microsoft Update for hp LaserJet 3015 PCL 5 driver does not install. He says 1 optional update is available almost every day, then when I try to install, it does not install and it says that the update is not necessary. Even once when I check updates, it says 1 optional update for the printer is available from Microsoft. And the story continues. I tried to reinstall the optional update, but the same problem persists perennielly

Looking for HP for the pilot because it is better to get these live drivers from the manufacturer. TaurArian [MVP] 2005-2010 - Update Services

No, these aren't the droids, uh, I mean the drivers he was looking for.

In fact, it's better to get the new drivers from the HP website, you will notice the link you provided that the options only are available for this printer under Windows 7 drivers universal. I regularly have problems with universal drivers and strongly recommend to avoid as much as possible.

I agree with the question of the original poster, which, after more than two years, remains unanswered by Microsoft. It seems that MS has a driver PCL 5 (not universal) updated specific 3015, but it fails to install the Windows Update control panel. I finally gave up on it, right click on the update and selected the option to hide it from view.

Why bother with a solution when I use the button "Sweep-It-under-the-carpet" practice of Microsoft?

I recommend one of the K-Lite codec packages available here to download and install. The regular package should be enough, but you can opt for the full package.

Once you have downloaded the package on your computer, you can right-click on the installation. EXE andrun as administrator to avoid any problems with the installation.
