Microsoft Windows 98 Professional (simillar Windows 2000 Pro)

Windows 98 Pro offers IE 5 for IE 6. It is marked in Windows 2000 and NT technology and it is built for the FAST program in 1998. Often, it doesn't have Internet until end of 1999 because IE 4 and 4.5 is still there in 1998 and 1999. Windows Media Player runs from 6-9 Series.

    Hello

Note Windows 2000 and Windows 2000 Professional can only be upgraded to Windows XP Professional. You cannot upgrade Windows 2000 to Windows XP Home Edition.

  • I have a computer that has Windows 2000 Pro, I can use the disk to upgrade to Windows XP with this OS?

I have a computer that has Windows 2000 Pro, I can use the disk to upgrade to Windows XP with this OS? It's

an old computer, but it works very well.  I want to switch to XP using the Windows upgrade disc. But

in the specifications it lists only 98, 98 Second and ME as an operating system you can upgrade.  Thanks John

Provided the specifications of the computer meets Windows XP you can switch from 2000 to XP. If it does not meet the specifications, you may upgrade the computer first or get a new one which is more cheaper today.

In addition, please note that you can only switch to Windows XP Professional. If it is a home edition you have then it will not work. You can refer to the link below on how to update your copy of Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro.

  • Was Windows 2000 Pro?

Hey. I heard people talking about Windows 2000 Pro with respect.

    "This is a fantastic product!

    Well. is this true?

    Hello

Windows 2000 is a line of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal, desktop computers business, laptops, and servers.

Published on February 17, 2000, it is the successor to Windows NT 4.0 and is the final release of Microsoft Windows to display the "Windows NT" designation.

He was replaced by Windows XP for systems of office in October 2001 and Windows Server 2003 for servers in April 2003. Windows Me was released seven months after Windows 2000 and a year before Windows XP, but Windows Me was not intended to be, nor served it as the successor to Windows 2000. Windows Me was designed for domestic use, while Windows 2000 is designed for businesses.

He had a lot of new features such as the update of Desktop Windows, Internet Explorer 5, (Internet Explorer 6, which entered in 2001 is also available for Windows 2000) Outlook Express, NetMeeting, FAT32 support, Windows Driver Model, connection sharing Internet, Windows Media Player, support for WebDAV etc.

That being said, it seems that there is a problem with the machines boot devices.  My best advice would be to get into the BIOS and make sure that your boot drive is first in line for the startup process.

    PLEASE NOTE:

BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can resolved e. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • Windows 2000 Pro system/disk physical conversion into virtual machine

Fairly new to the world of the VM and was directed to VMWare for possibly a problem for us.

We have a gentleman with an older system running Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) with a ton of software installed.  We put in place a new Win7 Pro system for him, but he won't Cross and reinstall everything (in addition to the time involved, some of the software is older and Win7 compatibility is probably a problem).

We were originally at a switch KVM allows you to switch between systems, but then I found in the converter and thought this would be a great solution for him.  My thoughts are to use the converter to create a virtual machine from its old system/hard drive and install Player on its new Win7 system, it can fire up to his old Win2000 environment when he needs to work - and we can empty the old physical system.

I have scanned through the documentation for converter and understood that I would need a version of Converter before 4.3 (like, 4.01 or earlier?).  Now, what should I install on it have to happen?

Do I need to set permissions on its legacy system to expose the discs on the network?

Can I get the old HD and connect it to the new system and convert this way?

Do I need to install something on the source and the host system to do this?

Once I can understand this point, we may need to conduct a number of other older systems, it keeps alive for the same reasons.

I guess I should ask first - is that what this application is designed to do?  Or it fits into another software solution?

Thank you very much for any information/guidance someone can provide - greatly appreciated.

(PS.  Please don't just live/link me to the documentation.  As mentioned, I went through that, and I'm not real familiar with the setting/process, so that really helped a lot.  Thank you once again.)

VHDs are used by VirtualBox and VirtualPC
    VMware uses the vmdk files

You start converter on the Win2000 and tell him to "convert THIS machine.
It then creates a vmx file plus a vmdk file.

On the Win7 host you install VMplayer or workstation, and then simply double-click the vmx file... If everything works as expected

  • Replace windows 2000 Pro with Win XP Pro SP2

What could be the best way to go about changing of OS witout losing Dat and the files on the PC. Would appreciate all comments and helwith the new facility.

    Thanks adavance

Start the computer to the Windows 2000 Professional operating system. Insert the CD in the DVD in the usual way. Run the Setup program. Select the upgrade installation. Follow the prompts. Everything should be OK with your user files and applications still in place.

    Should be. No guarantee.

Best to make sure you have backups of all your files of the user, including electronic stores you want. Also. Make sure that you have a way to reinstall your programs. If you need print creitical. Make sure you check the availability of the XP drivers for your printers. Remove the Windows 2000 drivers before the update and install XP drivers after. Even if the printer uses the same driver for 2000 and XP, I would like to remove it before upgrading. Less liklihood of problems.

  • How can you tell the difference between Microsoft Windows 8 Pro Full version and upgrade?

For previous versions of Windows, for example, Windows 7, it was very easy.  Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade has 'Upgrade' printed on the outside the box in the upper right, as well as on the discs themselves, while the full version does not work.

See here for example of the box: http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/193/e/0/Windows_7_Ultimate_upgrade_by_LucasVN.jpg

    For examples of records, see here: http://headsetchatter.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/snapshot-1283367118.977272.jpg, - http://www.microsoftcheapsoftware.com/ekmps/shops/samehxm/images/microsoft-windows-7-ultimate-sp1-upgrade-[3] 148 - p.jpg

With Windows 8 Pro, I can't find any distinctive feature.  I bought the full version and upgrade of Windows 8 Pro, but after their installation on several dozen calculates, I lost track of which boxes and discs are which.  And there seems to be no way to understand who is who...

There is never any full retail versions of Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro box. Only Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro OEM System Builder licenses were full versions. It's the best way to confirm.

Since the release of Windows 8.1, in retail box copies are full versions.
