Migrate local user view Persona profile

With the help of VMware view Horizon 5.3. I have an old persistent VM that the user has a local profile (software developer w / Visual Studio etc) I want to change to use Persona as everybody in our environment. But I don't want to lose its settings (AppData such as Outlook, VS, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).  I don't want to have to re-register/activate a bunch of its software and other things. Is there an easy way to do this?

So I just moved the computer in AD to the OU with view Persona GPO active and has the user logon. He converted his roaming profile.

    Hi Hallie,

    You can try the following.

Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  If windows will load in this mode, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 24 hours prior to the issue of logon and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart as normal in order to check if you can now connect correctly.

Another option if the above does not help is as follows.

Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at f8 that you start the laptop to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select "Start using last good known Configuration" and press ENTER.

  • migration of user to the new environment of horizon profile view

Hello, we have a new environment of horizon view during the installation of hardware new and ready to go

at the moment we saw 5.1 in production. 5.1 environment is configured with dedicated workstations + user data disks. the windows profile is redirected to the user data disk. We also have records of the location of desktop and my documents redirection to a cifs share.

We must abandon our users to the new environment with minimum disruption of our EBU end (IE not re - create profiles). We also want to integrate the management of persona in the new environment of horizon view.

no indication on how to better accomplish the migration would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

With regard to the use of Windows and persona profiles that should be pretty simple migration.  I had a similar situation, and the first thing I would do is to configure persona in your GPOS.  You can use the existing path or create a new path in there is an option for "Override Active Directory chemin_profil_utilisateur if it is set."   Alternatively, you can make the folder redirection with persona at the same location. Again, I would set up your GPOS with the same settings you use for roaming profiles and folder redirection, then remove the old GPO and implement the new persona profiles.  I've lived without interruption of service, but you may need to do a global gpupdate/force on the clients.

  • Cannot access my safe after the migration of user profile

    Hello everyone, welcome to Australia

I have a user who migrated their user profile from windows to the field of our profile by using the small business server 2003 to connect Computer Wizard. This wizard have not migrated users or My content Safe fingerprints.
After connection to the old account and attempts to access my safe with password backup, user could not open it.

Is it possible for the user to access the content in the folder of the safe MYy that these documents are very important. (Take the user to back up only not ;)))

Hmmm maybe it's not possible to access the MySafe because the laptop is a part of the domain of s.
I guess that the laptop was not included in the field when the user has used and saved the files in my safe.
So maybe you could try to reverse the settings and then you might try to enter the folder MySafe.

  • A local user account can be used with VMware View?

I have a bit of a unique situation.  I virtualized PC (off the field) which is basically a controller or a big machine.  To run the software from the vendor, the local user account is required.

Unfortunately, it doesn't allow a local user account to add to the display manager.  Am I missing something, or is it just not possible?

    Thank you!

As said Mark, you can disable Single Sign-on on the desktop so that after you authenticate to view (it must be a domain user) you can then enter any identifying information that you have on the desktop itself.

Policy details are in 5.1 Administrator's Guide Page 163 views and politics is titled AllowSingleSignon:

    http://pubs.VMware.com/view-51/topic/com.VMware.ICbase/PDF/view-51-administration.PDF

You will be able also a step further. After that you disabled SSO on the desktop, you can configure kiosk in view mode that the client used to connect to this desktop computer (if you are using only a single customer) would link up to this office automatically and then the user would simply see the Windows login prompt and be able to authenticate locally.

    How do I do that?

    General information...

I inherited this computer.  Previously, he served as both a team of personal and school computer.  In my view, it is configured to be part of a homegroup, which I cannot access.  I intend to disable homegroup connections.  But I take my time to make sure I'm not breaking the functionality I need.

Group Policy above have anything to do with homegroups?

Despite this, the residential group, Control Panel does not appear should be the group policies.

I find Microsoft Web pages that refer to a Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).  I only found on this computer (yet).

  • A single local user can belong to the Group 2-policy?

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 that I install with a SSL VPN. It's for personal use, and I so didn't need anything other than local authentication.

    I created two group policies:

    internal TunnelLAN group strategy

    attributes of Group Policy TunnelLAN

    VPN-tunnel-Protocol svc webvpn

    value of server DNS 208.67.222.222

    VPN - 4 concurrent connections

    VPN-session-timeout 1440

    Protocol-tunnel-VPN-client ssl clientless ssl

    Split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified

    Split-tunnel-network-list value split tunnel

    blahblahblah.com value by default-field

    the address value tunnel_lan_pool pools

    WebVPN

    internal TunnelAll group strategy

    attributes of Group Policy TunnelAll

    value of server DNS 208.67.222.222

    VPN - 4 concurrent connections

    VPN-session-timeout 1440

    Split-tunnel-policy tunnelall

    Protocol-tunnel-VPN-client ssl clientless ssl

    blahblahblah.com value by default-field

    the address value tunnel_all_pool pools

    WebVPN

As you can see, I would like to have a profile/policy where I only encrypt data will tunnel of splitting my ACL, and I would like to have a profile/policy where I encrypt all traffic.

The question ive been fighting is - it does not seem possible to associate more than one group by user policy. If anyone can confirm this? If it IS possible - can you tell me how I associate the two groups to my local account?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'm running ASA 9.1 (1), 7.1 ASDM. I'd be happy to share several config if requested.

    Hi Brandon,.

You can always set a group policy on a tunnel-group (connection profile). So in your case, you can create two tunnel and specify each lives in group in respect of each type of tunnel-group so.

    !

    type tunnel-group TunnelLAN-vpn remote access

    tunnel-group TunnelLAN-vpn-global attributes

    Group Policy - by default-TunnelLAN

    !

    !

    type tunnel-group TunnelAll-vpn remote access

    tunnel-group TunnelAll-vpn-global attributes

    Group Policy - by default-TunnelAll

    !

When you connect, you can decide which group policy you want to apply through the selection of the desired tunnel-group.

As long as you do not restrict the local user for a specific group (under the user attributes) policy all users can connect to one of the Tunnel-group defined in the ASA so long as they provide key correct pre-dhared

  • Mac OS Server - local users on console does not.  The shared access or ssh on account works

A Mac Mini running Mac OS Server has problems with authenticating the passwords of local users.  Users connect the console of the physical computer running macOS app Sierra and Server 5.2.

I'm looking for a short solution from scratch user and migrating data to a new installation.

My hunch is that there is an interaction with the server application.  The other Macs, I managed on the same network fail server and do not have these problems.

I installed a new version of macOS Sierra and then migrate the old data server on using the migration wizard, but the problem persists.

The server used to have users on the network, but they are all deleted, and all users are the.

In application server, the only services running time machine, the caching server and file server.  DNS, DHCP and Open Directory services are disabled in the server application.

A local user password will work normally when the computer is restarted.  But if the user disconnects, and tries to connect to or use the fast user switching back and forth between accounts, the password is not accepted.  On reboot, it will be accepted.

In addition to passwords are not accepted, other errors when you try to connect to specific customers include:

"Your account is not a valid directory.  For more information, contact your system administrator'

    or

"On behalf of user that you selected is not available."  Check your network connection and try again to the user account.  If you are connected to the network, ask system administrator for assistance. »

If a network is used to access the data of the user using the user name and password, it works.  Similarly, SSH'ing via the terminal using the username and password works.

An admin user can change the password back and it usually works for one login.  Then the password is denied if the user disconnects or use the fast user switching.

Thanks in advance for any help on this embarrassing problem!

I should clarify: it's the passwords of local users on the Mac who stop working (for the connection or fast user switching), until the Mac restarts.

  • Prevent local users to install Firefox

For some reason, the local users are able to download and install Firefox on their profiles. It installs in their file C:\Users\ < user > to \AppData\ and does not appear in the list of software to uninstall so that the local user who placed it.

As a system of administration that does not want any user to install ANY software, unless they are using an administrator account, this is very frustrating. How to avoid as local users on our network, without administrative rights to install this software?

Hello kafri, when the installer for firefox (and many other programs) is run without administrator privileges that he could deliver his program files in this directory to users appdata rather than be installed globally for all users of this computer.

Hi, on a new computer a local user account has been created and loaded with personal folders.

Two weeks later, another user account was created with an address of the user online.

Is it possible to recover the deleted account?

Not sure if the system restore can restore a user account, but worth a try if you have a restore point before the account was deleted.
