MigrateStarter.exe is necessary?

I recently formatted my laptop, then did Acer backup image. I migrate and MigrateStarter.exe on my external hard drive to store backups. I need them now?

The files are part of the NTI solution included like Acer Backup Manager.

If you want to keep and use backups with Acer Backup Manager, it would be safer to keep the files.

Win7 Ultimate not use or need conhost?

    Hello

Yes, the Conhost.exe file is needed under Windows 7.

It was included in Windows 7 to fix a few problems that appeared in Windows XP and Windows Vista.

You can see a good explanation of these issues and the reason why the conhost.exe is necessary in the following article.

What is conhost.exe and why is it running? :

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/4996/what-is-conhost.exe-and-why-is-it-running/

If you are sure that the Conhost.exe does not appear in the folder System32, perform the following test.

    1. click Start and type cmd.exe in the area of Research .

    2. in the results, right-click the Cmd.exe file and select run as administrator . This will open a command prompt window.

    3. leave open window command prompt. Right-click in the taskbar and select Task Manager.

    4. in Task Manager, click Show processes from all users at the bottom of the window.

    5. make sure that the process tab is selected, and check if you can find one instance of the Conhost.exe file in the Image name column.

    Let us know the results.

I had spyware called "vista defender pro" on my computer, so I downloaded "super anti-spyware", scanned my computer with it and deleted the spyware with it.  Now, many programs have disappeared so I want a system restore, but when I click on system restore it asks me to choose the program I want to use to open the file.  What can I do?

  • my computer started running slow recently

I think I have a virus that slows down my computer and some websites do not load or not load images, and it is a very recent thing, since it is not happened to my computer since I got it. I was wondering if there is a website where I can check the Task Manager processes and programs that end in "exe"? I want to just make sure that it is not one of those programs that slows down my computer like a virus or something. I s Malwarebyte and spybot search and destroy computer programs and when I scan my computer, both programs said that my computer is clean

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

In fact, computers that run Windows need winlogon.exe running at all times, because it allows users to log in and out of Windows. Process Library reports that winlogon.exe is necessary for a stable computer
system, therefore ending does not process. Because of the prevalence of winlogon.exe on computers, viruses and worms sometimes use a similar name to winlogon, such as "winlgon.exe." You shouldn't have several running winlogon process, if you do you probably have spyware.

Then I suggest that you run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and see if that helps.

Note: Data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

If the suggestion above does not work then, try creating a new user account and see if that helps.

  • Documentation and standby VCB

Try to get the suspension of scripts to work in ESX 4 (ditto for 3.5 U4 incidentally), I discovered that the documentation is either incomplete, or simply incorrect.

I speak only of virtual machines Windows here, but in several messages on this community and other forums, I see the same thing for Linux guests.

The VCB backup guide says in 2 different places to freeze the scripts:

    -ESX 3.5 U2 pre: pre-antifreeze - script.bat and post-thaw - script.bat in c:\Windows

-U2 3.5 and later: 1 single script that takes freeze and thaw as arguments, located in the program Vmware Tools directory, subdirectory backupscripts.d

On the two ESX 4U1 and 3.5 U4, using VCB 1.5 U1, I had problems to freeze the scripts to work when you use the format of path and the script described in the documentation.

In the hostd.log of the ESX host, I found entries that showed the C:\Windows\pre-freeze-script.bat starting, instead of the script, I expect, based on the documentation, so I put the scripts there, and they worked.

    So, what is everything?

Is there someone who can provide accurate information on the use of scripts of gel, and where they should be put? (please don't point me to the documentation on the Vmware Web site, I read that and it is wrong, as I described above)

It does make a difference if I installed Vmware VSS provider or not? (two cases I had the problem with, has no, and I have not tested in a virtual machine, it was still installed)

The new location is only used if VSS is installed with VMware tools. In order to get a solution that works always place just a wrapper on the new location that points to the original scriptname remaining on the old rental (%windir%\System32). Please keep in mind that the current versions of VMware tools changed his installation on 64-bit windows path. So be sure that you create the folder "backupScript.d" in the right place and keep an eyes open if your upgrade tools where already implement you the sleep scripts.

    1. create the file 'backupScripts.d' in /path_wher_vmwaretools_installed/

    2. place the wrapper "vcb.bat" in "backupScripts.d".

    3. create the pre_freeze and post_thaw.bat files in c:\windows

    4. create 2 text files (vcb_msg_start.txt, vcb_msg_stop.txt) to send msg in c:\windows (only 3 attachments are allowed here)

I have attached the files of my solution which has also written to a log file and also by e-mail [1] notify if you wish. You can test the current full thing with a "vcb.bat gel" and "vcb.bat thaw."

blat.exe and sleep.exe is necessary for sending email from the command line
