  I m new to modular data acquisition. I need to gain about 10-12 simultaneous analog inputs for the quality of food and the transient analysis. As NI CompactDaq specifications States that it can accommodate 7 - simultaneous tasks while for NI CompactRIO, no information is mentioned in its specifications.

  Yes, you will be able to do it with a cDAQ.  As long as you are in a frame, you can share the same time base and start on the same trigger.

  Another question, is there a method to determine how many virtual machines that I can host on one computer? Many people seem to ask this question, but I'm yet to find one another answer that wave "between 10 and 20 virtual machines" or "up to 50 vms' if I know what are my physical features and I know what operating systems and applications I don't want run on virtual servers, is there a way to calculate whether my hardware will be able to host virtual machines?

• How many vCenter servers?

  Hi all

  Earlier today, we have 1 x VirtualCenter Server 2.5U4 which has 3 x wired on ESX 3.5U4 hosts, is one of our main offices.

  We now install some (probably ESX 4 given his imminent release) ESX host to a second location of main office. These two places are linked by a 100 MB connection.

  My question is, would it be a good or bad idea to use the existing VirtualCenter Server 2.5U4 (improved to vCenter when it comes out) to manage both of these places, or it would be better to have a vCenter dedicated for each location.

  Benefits: 1 server to manage, all ESX hosts in a single console.

  Cons: License required Extra vCenter, another deployment of SQL required, 2 servers to manage and connect to.

  What are your opinions? Is there a reason I should use specifically not just a box of vCenter?

  Technically speaking, it should work perfectly. And you aren't yet nearly as many hosts a vCenter may have... I would use a central system, it would make more sense indeed. Remember that you might want to increase the heart rate:

  I have a soft when it starts loads up to about 200 images small gif for the web server.  Code looks like this:

  It worked well in testing for a few dozen images.  But now I'm he runs with about 200 images and about half the images load fine but the other half I get an error:

  Error 2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent.

  Whenever I run it, different images succeed and fail.  It gives me the feeling that I have somehow reached a limit either the number of concurrent threads of URLRequest that Flash can run, or the number of competitor HTTP request that the image server can manage... or maybe that there is a time-out on the charger I can do longer?

  I'm not sure on the limit, but I would probably load successively, instead of all at once. A way to get there would be a loadCounter variable set to 0 - then call a function that load myArray [loadCounter] - when you are finished, increment loadCounter - if it is still less than myArray.length recall the function of loading.

  We want to broadcast direct meetings with the majority of users access to our inTRAnet. 320 x 240, 30 fps, dual 2.8 GHz, 4 GB server of widows. Anyone with a similar setup to use EGIA service 200 or 500 concurrent users? We have two campuses and I need to know if I need spec a second server if we get above a certain number.   FMS should be able to manage your 500 customers without a problem by using the configuration you mentioned (some of my apps regularly see many times more than that on a single server). I use a slightly beefier processor in my boxes... quad core Kentsfield Xeon / 4 GB ram.

  That said, also, make sure you have enough flow to your NETWORK card to carry the traffic. To 500 concurrent clients, a current of low-bandwidth of 300 Kbps puts you on point 150Mbps, so you'll need to run the numbers before commit you to a single network is used for in the case where you can't have enough juice for one box.

• cold vsphere 4.1 - should migration take how long?

  We begin the process of upgrading our hosts and components vSphere 4.1 to 5.5.  We have to increase the RAM on the hosts and therefore need to move some virtual machines between hosts.

  Some of these virtual machines have no VM Tools installed, so they must be cold migrated.  Stop, migrate, restart, rinse and repeat.

  I'll do some tests, but my previous experience on it's a little blurry.  Let's not storage, just the virtual machine.  I remember this will only take a couple minutes to complete.

  What is your experience with this kind of cold migration how long does?
