migration of DB of Solaris 8i to 10g windows

There is a duty to pass db solaris8 (dbversion8170 to the window Server 2003 (10204 already installed))

DB is large, about 80 GB, what would be the best approach?

I think to create new db on windows and export and import data... questions/suggestions?

  • 8i/windows 2000 server and import export in 10g / windows 2003

We took the 8i/windows 2000 server and import export in 10g / windows 2003 server.

I created the empty database in 10g (sys, sysaux, temporary table space) and

made other tablespaces from the database of parnet with autoextet

    When importing in 10 g / windows server 2003, it throws IMP-00015

After importing all trying to connect to other databases using db link (created before export), the error message is ora-02019.

HOW TO GET ALL THE privileges to use & roles (sys & object) after importation.

Another thing is to know how to check the integrity of a database after importing in 10g.

What are the steps I need to take before exporting?

I have disabled all triggers before importation, what I need to do before exporting?

I activated all triggers after the import.

    Hi all

We intend to migrate our application/database to the new server. Please let me know how to save/fast time of this migration.

I went through the document below, but it seems that this will consume more time.

    Application: 11i

    DB: 10G

    Platform: AIX

    Kind regards

    MD

Option 2: What backup should be restored? Do you mean restore backup DB with APPL_TOP, COMM_TOP & OA_TOP? We need to copy anything else here? and do we not have any document to this option?

Restore all files from node level database and the application without exception.

Option 3: To copy the files, we need to copy db_top, data_top, appl_top, comm_top and oa_top. We need to copy anything else here? and do we not have any document to this option? I hope we can run level dbTier/apps adcfgclone giving the source xml files.

Copy all the files mentioned in the doc of rapid Clone. If you chose to go with this approach, then you need not file context source as quick Clone will create new ones for you (must be identical to the source ones).

  • Migration from Linux to Solaris

    Hello

We are migrating an Oracle on Linux for Solaris 10.2.5 database step. Does anyone know a note of metalink I can refer please. All I need is a reference to a metalink note or formal Oracle document please. I'm well aware of the measures to be taken, but need formalized for my client.

    Thank you very much

If the endianesses are the same, you can go for a transport database, otherwise transport tablespace:

    Ms. K

    Hello

It is a difficult and tedious process?

    It's just an upgrade :)

Which is easier, upgrade to 10g or 11g upgrade?

-I suggest that you go with 11 GR 2.

Are these notes I received for the correct upgrade? 11g (452783.1); 10g (362203.1)

Yes, but go instead with 11 GR 2 - Note: 881505.1 - version of Oracle Applications 11i with Oracle 11 g Release 2

What is the notes I need to perform the upgrade?

In addition to the above document, please see:

Which do you recommend? 10g or 11g

    11 GR 2

Can you share what do I watch and pay attention during the 9iDB EBS upgrade? The most difficult part or "stone of stumbling"?

Make sure you have a backup and try the upgrade on a TEST instance first.

  • Migrate from Dictionary Managed Tablespace locally managed - 10g

Is there a document that indicates best practices to migrate the management measure dictionary managed tablespace to locally managed with automatic segment management space.

I read that we can migrate using the DBMS_SPACE_ADMIN. TABLESPACE_MIGRATE_TO_LOCAL Procedure, but is not very clean because existing data will still use the managed dictionary and new lines inserted will follow the local space management, is this correct?

    Can someone please provide comments?

    Thank you
    KeV

Kevin, my personal opinion is that future space management will be much easier for the DBA if the ADMINISTRATOR creates new tablespace by using local management instead converts the tablespaces in place. When the packaged DBMS_SPACE_ADMIN. Procedure TABLESPACE_MIGRATE_TO_LOCAL serves the existing objects are not resized and parameters such pctincrease are still in force. Convert the tablespaces bring their problem of fragmentation of space with them.

New start. Also if you want to use SAMS you put on when creating tablepsace so new is necessary in this case. ALTER table move and alter index rebuild are an easy way to move most tables/index to the new tablespace. The old exp/imp can be used for objects with long columns.

I saw the free space fragmentation problems in a tablespace which was not converted-allocation automatic. The use of auto-allocate will considerably reduce the likliness of a problem free space fragmentation, but in some cases, you may still experience the problem.

  • Migration from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 10g

    Dear friends,

I need to move my tables with data from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 10 g. How can we make the best possible?

    Please guide me.

    Nith

Here are the 4 options (it is perhaps more)

    * 1.* export to text file in SQL2005 and load text files using external table in Oracle

    * 2 in the Oracle ODBC for SQL Server connection configuration and simply pull the data using create table abc to select * mytable@sqlserver - if the oracle is on windows, this should be quick, free and painless, it works under unix as well. Examples

    http://www.databasejournal.com/features/Oracle/article.php/3442661/making-a-connection-from-Oracle-to-SQL-Server.htm
    http://www.easysoft.com/applications/Oracle/database-gateway-dg4odbc.html

    * 3.*, I think that you can configure the connection between SQL SERVER and Oracle

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/280106

or and I hate this solution in general, but it works in the content is low

    * 4 in MS Access link to ORACLE and MS SQL Tables (two linked tables) and then create the insert query to move the data from the server sql for oracle - this solution works, but it is quite slow.

    2 stay on 9.2.0.8 and do not update to 10 g +.

It resembles a traditional DAQ driver VI, which is logical since the VI comes from the era LV6.

With Win7, you need to install the DAQmx drivers. This means also all the Subvi located in your traditional DAQ program must be replaced with DAQmx Subvi.

  • forms 10g window > cascade

In 9i that used for our windows cascading perfectly, but in 10g it doesn't seem to work. We have slightly changed the structure of our menu and have a window, used as a menu which I assume is the cause of the problem but I wanted to know if someone shed some light on exactly what all this and if you have any control over it to try to find the problem.

I just tested 10.1.2.3 and 11.1.1.4 use JRE 1.6.0_25 and it seems that this cascade is working properly. Windows are cascaded from the top left corner to the bottom right as expected. The window width is increased to 70% of available window width. This seems too expected behavior. You can see the exact behavior even in the report designer, as you do when running.

If you don't want the resizable windows, set the property of the window for "Resize allowed" not at design time. This can be set during execution. Alternatively, if you want that the resizable window, but do not want this behavior when you call cascading, you need to change code. You might like putting the trigger WHEN WINDOW RESIZE logic. However, I would recommend this carefully because all the code that you insert in this trigger would also occur any time the user deliberately tried to change the size of the window.
