Mislabelling of Media Player music albums

My Windows Media is strange. I changed the label to some of my music albums, but he has changed the labels of other albums as well. Tried I delete albums concerned the library and tried to reconstruct these albums 'Add to library' of my music from the hard drive files.

I've done 4 times and each time, the same albums are mislabeled repeatedly and consistently.

Hi Northwestquest,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

We would like to get more information about you to help solve your problem. You better, please answer the following questions.

·         When was the last time it worked?

·         Remember to make changes to the computer recently?

·         What version of Media Player do you use?

First you suggest that you try to check with any other album if labels are getting mislabeled.

I suggest that you try labeling albums automatically and verify if you are facing a similar question.

You can try to match an album in your library with an entry in the online database. If you find a match, the player will download any album art is in the database on your computer.

Note that when the Player downloads album art, it downloads also all other information about the media associated with this album (for example, the name of the album titles songs and so on). If you have manually changed media for this album in your library, the following procedure will overwrite your changes.

  1. Connect to the Internet.
  2. Click the library tab, and then go to the album you want to resolve.
  3. Right click on the album and then click Find Album Info.
  4. If you get an error message that says you must change your privacy settings before you can update media information, follow these steps: click on the Tools menu, click Options, click the Privacy tab, and then select the check box Update music files by retrieving media info from the Internet . Then, in the library, repeat the previous step.

If the Tools menu is not visible, show the Classic Menus.

  1. Do one of the following:

·         If the correct album information or artist appear in search results, select the entry and then follow the instructions on the page to update the album art and media information automatically. If the correct album information do not appear in the search results, follow the instructions on the page to search using different search criteria.

·         If the correct album is displayed with an icon of displayed generic music as the album art, album art is not available for download. See the how to add album art manually in this topic.

  • Help! windows 7 Windows media player: the album (with album art) icons are HUGE! How to make their small new

HELP! Im not sure how it happened, but today, by using windows media player, I think that I leaned on my keyboard, by chance and somehow my icons have grown from small (such as 4 cm wide) to huge (as 9 cm wide). I put it on the "icons" option and always have. I tried to find out if there was a zoom button or something that would cause this happens on my keyboard, but there is not, it's just a standard keyboard. Then I tried switching modes, for "tile" of fashion, but they are huge in this point of view too, only 3 albums are now through my screen, when there used to be 6. I prefer them smaller, because it won't take long to scroll down threw them, I sense a tun of the music. I looked in the settings and can't seem to find a way to change their return. Please let me know if you have a solution for me! Thank you guys!

    HI Branika,

    Apology for a delayed response.

You can try this procedure and check if it retains the size original album art information of the media file in Windows Media Player:

    • Open the media file in Windows Media Player. Click on the file and then press F4. Now the album art will not be displayed.
    • Press the F4 key from the keyboard. This will reset the size of the info from the album. This works very well for a specific file. You can also choose to support those who don't have the default size and use specific keys to reset.

If this does not help, we will proceed with several troubleshooting steps ahead.

We will restore the size of album art using the registry change and check if it helps. Check out the link and follow the suggestions that are marked as an answer:

Note: Please make sure that you back up the registry files before you start the troubleshooting steps listed above.

  • Windows media player 'find album information '.

Earlier this week the 'Find album information' feature stop working.  Display only the computers at home and at work

"Server Error" "500 internal server error." "There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."

I have this problem on three computers that are running windows 7 and a Tablet under windows 8.  This function works perfectly before this week.  I thought it might be a problem with the server "fai.music.metaservices.microsoft.com", but after a week, the problem is still there.

Is this a problem with the end of Microsoft servers, or did a recent update screw up everything?

I can't even service that would allow me to manually enter album information.

    VERY FRUSTRATING.

Can someone help me?  I have a problem with the recognition of music files (MP3, WMA, etc.) in Windows Media Player 12 (version 12.0.7601.17514).  I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit, on my computer tower to my main hard drive. I store my media (mainly), MS Office, PDF, and other various files on disc 2 of the secondary, internal size TB.  I have an external USB hard drive enclosure I can insert my player with internal 2 TB.  This allows me to take my multimedia files with me on vacation at home.  I can use this external box to read the media on other people's computers files, when I go on vacation.  When I put the internal drive in the external case in media players, the files appear, but do not work.  Their Player Windows Media displays a red "X" next to a lot of music album files and, when these red "Xs" appear, they appear in a cluster through the album of music together.  On my home computer, these Reds 'Xs' do not appear!  Another thing, some of the albums mysteriously disappear and reappear weeks later.  However, some of the files, when I play, his corrupt and static as in some places.  Sometimes the music files will play at Midway until it cuts and a red 'X' appears.  What happens here?

  • WIndows media player music sorce

Hi, I have on my computer a few music files in various formats, lower quality formats are used with iTunes for usage of mobile devices but I have the best quality formats that I use to listen to music around the House and I use the 'windows media player' but when I open the drive it is load all music files , I would limit the player just for higher quality files, and if I try to create a playlist I don't understand in the forms of album with all of the work of art as.

How can I solve this problem?

    Thank you

It must only be including these defined folders in the library music in Media Player.

However in the iTunes preferences, you can set a different location for its library. Or hold the SHIFT key when you start iTunes to get the ability to change/create a new library.

  • Windows Media Player 11 album art is missing

Hi, this is a mystery, but suddenly and without reason obvious, almost half of my albums do not show all arts album no matter what view, I use. However, when I browse through the files in Windows Explorer, I see that images (Folder.jpg, AlbumArtSmall.jpg and so on) are still there. And even if I stick a new image in the album inside WMP no album art appears.

    Thanks for any help!

I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

  • Where Windows Media Player store album art?

I have many, many of the audio CD WMP shows the album art to album and several other points of view.  I have another application, in that I try to get the work but the application will not find work rip CD or by using the function «find album art»  I have a vague feeling that the other application does not search the work to what whether the 'head office' doesn't sell. ? !  In any case, if I could find where album art are kept in WMP, I could try to transfer it to the other application.  I looked on some of the CD and cannot find any file or subdirectory.  Similarly, I can't find any subdirectory under WMP where work could be stored.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Turner

Copy the files in the top level of this folder in the same folder on new pc...

    C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

You can probably just copy the entire folder of Media Player above.

  • Windows Media Player music library maintains itself duplication

My library of music guard preparation itself and I cannot understand why. I went through it and deleted duplicates twice now and a few days ago, they were back.  If I go in my libraries in the menu start none of my music splits just to the music to Windows Media Player list.

If you have transferred once the song of Media Player. Do not open files in Explorer again. If you do, it will transfer the songs an extra time. So if you want to listen to your music, start by opening the media player and songs by finding th eosngs it.

    It can be useful :)

Right-click on a music file or video file, from the small menu select open with. A dialog box opens. At the bottom, make sure always open with (or a similar text is CHECKED. Select WMP and apply or OK your way back. Repeat for other types of files.
